No support.

It's pointless. The advantages you mentioned — id est, support and contests — are both already available in the fanfiction section.

Fanfiction is just normal fiction without character- and world-building; realistic fiction excludes world-building anyway, so there isn't much difference there at all. Even in fanfiction, creating new characters is very common. Therefore, there is no discernible difference between fanfiction and free original fiction.

I said fanfiction unrelated!

Get some glasses.

I just think that some creative writings simply don't fit the fanfic forum.

I just said that the line between fanfiction and original fiction is so thin it really can't exist.

For example, I have a story based entirely on Lucky Star — indeed, Konata Izumi is the main character. However, it's composed almost entirely of original characters, I constructed two worlds and a language for it, it's in a completely different genre, and it's really impossible to tell that the story has anything to do with Lucky Star except by wild mass guessing and word of god. Where does that go?

Ultimately, there's no point in separating fiction from fiction.

That, my friend, is Fan-Fiction as you're using other people's characters and writing in their universe.

Still, Role playing needs to be separated from from Fan-Fic and get an OOC/Character Submit sub-forum, and then I guess Fan-Fic could have this. I'd use it for my Screenplays, which are currently no-where as General is a spammy hellhole. So yeah.

I still say pointless taxonomy is pointless. Besides the horrible insult to fanfiction writers, YCMaker won't waste his time with this; he barely answers good suggestions.
