O and NHL WON best sports game (WTF?)

Better than Madden or Fifa winning it.

True true just a shock to see it

Best Fighting Game

Street Fighter IV

wut...Who were they up against?

Tekken 6

BlazBlue

Soul Calibur: broken destiny

and Street Fighter IV won?! Personally street fighter shouldn't have won anything' date=' all his competitions were superiority better lol.(except for maybe Soul Calibur, never played broken destiny)

[/quote']

Sf 4 is a very good besides seth XD

tekken 6 was not that good

soul Calibur was eh

Dont know wat blazblue

i would say sf4 would of one hands down

It's a painfully generic modern game filled with more grey filters than I can count, which relies on bad humour and poor beat 'em up gameplay in order to impress the more casual mooks of gaming? If heaven means lots of people sitting around playing Assassin's Creed, then I'll take hell - Uncharted 2 is boss.

Mostly an okay list' date=' but some of them are laughable. Chinatown Wars being better than Bowser's Inside Story is just not true, [b']and Assassin's Creed is blargh[/b]. Also, Halo music is dire. I mean, painfully generic choral stuff.

f*** you motherf***er. Hell has a special place for people like you.

The happy room?

I dunno they fixed that with Assasin's Creed 2, it was really good especially compared to it's predecessor. The story's a little jumpy but meh. It's still a great game.

Seth was simply pathetic. I can't believe how the God of darkness and chaos can be such a little bit-=V.

========

Anyways Street Fighter 4 is good(hell I still have fun with it) fighting game of the year...eh...

The gameplay itself just feels slower and more sluggish, so that's a downside for me but you can get over this. I just imagined it as a new game and I got over on the first day, and than the annoyance came in.

Fighting game tries to pride over how balance their characters are, especially capcom who were gloating about this for god knows how long. Game finally came out, and tiers went up so fast it wasn't even funny. I know balance is impossible and all you can really do is try but WTF!? Sagat and Zangief so OP it's not even funny. It's like seeing a 5 star with 3400 ATK. Yeah it's vanilla and it still has some things to get use to it but it's pro outweighs it's con so much the scale tipped over and fell to hell.

(ironically the use too OP Akuma was nerfed to the point of 'lol' keep-away-or-die)

another thing they gloated about. Story, I know fighting games don't usually have good stories(aside from IMO anything AKSYS makes) but if you gloat about it you better have it or else I'm gonna get annoyed. Than yet again Seth bla bla

and online, well not going to go their because that is it's own monster. Lag is sometimes too frequent and they're not even lag but rather lolspikes and broken leaderboard/points system.

So yeah it's a great game, fighting game of the year..Hmm doubt it.

Maybe Super Streetfighter 4 might fix the above ^ I surely hope so.

It still has far too many quick-time events, far too little colour saturation, and far too many poor innuendo jokes for my liking. If it were a human, it'd be an angstsy teen, who is trying to make people take him seriously by acting "mature" - or at least, "mature" as he sees it. In my action adventure games, I prefer it when they cut that crap and get straight to the point - see: Majora's Mask, ICO, Uncharted 2.

ICO = sexy

Uncharted 2 = looks sexy, I dunno. Haven't had the honor to play it yet. I need to buy it.

Majora's Mask = great, but lol to get to the point.

====

but I do agree with the angsty teen bit. It does happen quite a bit, but it's still 8/10 game and I do not regret buying it.

I'd push it down to low 7 myself. Then again, I obsess over small details and I'm extremely difficult to please, and my tastes can also be considered somewhat eclectic.

Also, play Uncharted 2. It's godly good. If I was to name three inspirations for the next Zelda game (and Zelda is my favourite series, quite easily), they'd be ICO, Uncharted 2, and Metroid Prime, because those are easily the best three action adventure titles since Majora's Mask. (well, technically Metroid Prime is an FPS, but in all aspects aside from the view point, it feels more like an action adventure title. If you've played it, you'll know what I mean)

Here's what happened to all you people with no Spike TV.

Awards

Game of the Year

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

I thought Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would win this. Stupid VGA' date=' never getting it right.[/b']

Best Xbox 360 Game

Left 4 Dead 2 (And it's not even a 360 exclusive lol)

Correct, its not a 360 exclusive. Its still a good game though...

Best PS3 Game

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Heard it was good but not sure if its the best of PS3 this year

Best Wii Game

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Figured as much as its just the hype that got this award. Metroid Prime Trilogy should won this instead.

Best Handheld Game

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars

Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story or Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days should've gotten this instead of GTA: CW

Best Shooter

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Deserves this award

Best Fighting Game

Street Fighter IV

Surprisingly, I thought Tekken 6 would win this.

Best Action Adventure Game

Assassin's Creed 2 (Yes motherf***ers)

This game deserves this award. Amazing F***in game!

Best RPG

Dragon Age: Origins

Can't disagree on this one unless proved otherwise

Best Multi-player Game

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

I agreed with this

Best Original Score

Halo 3: ODST (lolwtf?)

Ugh, this game sucks. Period. Doesn't deserve any awards!

Best Game Based on a Movie/TV Show

South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play! (XD)

lol, wut?

Most Anticipated Game

God of War III

Don't own a PS3 but I agree with this one.

Also here's some s*** they announced,

Rocksteady's follow-up to Batman: Arkham Asylum revealed, YES!!

Yes!!!!!!!

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands features a Prince that probably

spends a lot of time blow-drying his hair, Please don't cancel the new trilogy's sequel because it's better then the Sands of Time plot

Sands of Time was epic. The new PoP didn't do so well in my book.

We got our first real look at Halo Reach, lol Halo

Crap, another Halo game is coming.

Yeah so the B:AA sequel was the only noteworthy thing and it was said if the first was profitable they would announce a sequel.

Agreed.

Bolded words are my opinions.

By not liking Assassin's Creed II, would that not imply my standards are even higher than yours? By extension, indicating my tastes are much more refined than yours? Rather than question my tastes, Cyber Altair, I'd question yours. Take any action adventure game over the past decades that could be considered revolutionary (ICO, Majora's Mask, Ocarina of Time, Uncharted 2, Okami). ICO pioneered the "all alone" atmosphere, Majora's Mask had some of the best characterization of all time at that point, Ocarina of Time introduced action adventure games to 3D, Uncharted 2 brought intensely smooth gameplay, and Okami's art style was unique. Now let us look at Assassin's Creed II: it doesn't have a stand-out or particularly enthralling atmosphere. There are more games than I count that revolve around assassinations, and Assassin's Creed doesn't really do anything to set itself apart. The characterization is frankly dire. None of the characters particularly stand out, because none of them are believable - they're all just making pale attempts to be "badass". There was no new massive gameplay twist, nothing particularly original. The gameplay can hold its own, yes, but it is plagued by too many quick-time events and interrupting cutscenes during action to ever be considered particularly smooth. The art style is exactly the same is the majority of this generation's games - they took what may have been an attractive game, sucked all the colours out, and replaced everything with grey, brown, and dull greens. Assassin's Creed II brought nothing whatsoever to the industry, and totally failed to stand out, and as such, it is just yet another dull, generic game.

Uncharted 2 clearly should have won that, and failing that, Batman: Arkham Asylum deserved second.

You're funking with me right?

If you hold Okami highly because it has a unique art style you're a funking idiot because art style was nothing compared to the interesting game play, Uncharted 2 was Tomb Raider with a funny guy with dick and higher production values. I'll play by your "one feature makes a game awesome logic" and state that Assassin's Creed is funking awesome because it pioneered exploration in-game by introducing a vast open world game where you can climb to high places and jump on hay stacks when that by itself is not the only feature. The game seamlessly merges with history to provide an entertaining story along side an interesting (flawed yet interesting) combat and improved upon the repetitive aspects of the first.

You want gameplay twists? Ok you can blend into any group of people, assassinations now occur in any place and there's an economic system. Oh and there's a lot more weapons now in addition to a hidden gun and a poison blade.

Also how in the name of God is this a generic game when no other game is funking close to the game. I mean PoP is linear (no matter how open the new game was it's still linear), Tomb Raider and Uncharted are also linear even though the Uncharted series attempt to change that with certain big area's to allow combat to change. Also Batman: AA was an amzing game but still very different from Assassin's Creed.

In short, funk you because you're a funking idiot.

We have just found out that Deucalion is an idiot with no sense of taste.

Eh' date=' not quite. After all, he liked Metroid Prime and Majora's Mask.

[/quote']

I didn't play them but didn't everybody like them anyway? That's beside the fact a gamer will get anally raped if he says he dislike any of the games.

Video gaming is about immersion and escapism - ideally, the perfect video game is one in which the environment is totally believeable and you can almost feel there. An art style which helps accomplish this can easily excuse poor gameplay. Gameplay is not the be all end all - take Earthbound (Mother 2). It has intensely painful gameplay at parts, but had such an immersive atmosphere that it was an excellent game.

Uncharted 2 was Tomb Raider with a funny guy with dick and higher production values.

By that logic, Assassin's Creed is just Hitman with an effeminate protagonist.

I'll play by your "one feature makes a game awesome logic"

'cept that ain't my logic. Most of the games I mentioned were consistently good through-out, AS WELL AS having something which revolutionized the industry

and state that Assassin's Creed is f***ing awesome because it pioneered exploration in-game by introducing a vast open world game where you can climb to high places

lol.

lol x2.

The game seamlessly merges with history

Seamless like hell.

to provide an entertaining story

The story was only entertaining if you have less grasp of narrative and plot development than a Twilight fan

along side an interesting (flawed yet interesting) combat

It was hideously bad. This by itself wouldn't be bad, Mirror's Edge had bad combat but made up for it in other areas, but when you compound it with Assassin's Creed II's total ineptitude in other areas, it's just disappointing.

was and improved upon the repetitive aspects of the first.

Which isn't hard. They barely had to try to improve the faecal mess that was the first.

You want gameplay twists? Ok you can blend into any group of people,

Been doing that since Hitman.

assassinations now occur in any place

Been doing that since Hitman.

and there's an economic system.

It'd be harder to find a list of games that doesn't have a working economic system these days. I mean, Chinatown Wars has a far better one than Assassin's Creed II, and that's a handheld game.

Oh and there's a lot more weapons now in addition to a hidden gun and a poison blade.

So sticking in a few more generic weapons makes a game good now? Times have changed.

Also how in the name of God is this a generic game when no other game is f***ing close to the game. I mean PoP is linear (no matter how open the new game was it's still linear), Tomb Raider and Uncharted are also linear even though the Uncharted series attempt to change that with certain big area's to allow combat to change. Also Batman: AA was an amzing game but still very different from Assassin's Creed.

The most recent PoP is, yes, but the older ones certainly aren't. And how is Batman: Arkham Asylum "very different" from Assassin's Creed II? They're both action adventure titles which revolve around exploration and non-linearity. Assassin's Creed is generic in multiple ways: visually (which I've touched upon so often I really shouldn't have to again), musically (the soundtracks are the unmitigated piles of generic neo-classical stuff we've been hearing since Ocarina), and thematically (although I will give II credit in that it avoided this more than I did. I may as well have been called Prince of Persia: Assassin's Creed).

In short, f*** you because you're a f***ing idiot.

Because obviously, ad hominem and swearing makes you look like such a big man. What's next? Posting a picture from 4chan telling me "STFO and GTFO"? Where's the flair? You're so booooring.

Uncharted 2 was Tomb Raider with a funny guy with dick and higher production values.

By that logic, Assassin's Creed is just Hitman with an effeminate protagonist.

Because Hitman was about a hired killer that parkour'ed in a free open world and stabbed suffocated people with piano threads.

I'll play by your "one feature makes a game awesome logic"

'cept that ain't my logic. Most of the games I mentioned were consistently good through-out, AS WELL AS having something which revolutionized the industry.

lol.

Emphasis on climbing, as in scaling building not landing on a chopper atop a mountain or walk to the top using a magically created path.

and jump on hay stacks when that by itself is not the only feature.

lol x2.

Google Sarcasm, it's a wonderful thing.

The game seamlessly merges with history

Seamless like hell.

It might not be correct but it never bends any point to justify the plot. Hitler is stated to be a Templar but they never broke recorded historical content to make sure what the say make sense.

to provide an entertaining story

The story was only entertaining if you have less grasp of narrative and plot development than a Twilight fan.

Very funny, what's next? God of War had a shitty story because Kratos doesn't express emotion?

It was hideously bad. This by itself wouldn't be bad, Mirror's Edge had bad combat but made up for it in other areas, but when you compound it with Assassin's Creed II's total ineptitude in other areas, it's just disappointing.

Your mother was disappointing, Assassin's Creed II wasn't. Unless you're an idiot who can only get out of a combat using "Counter Kills".

was and improved upon the repetitive aspects of the first.

Which isn't hard. They barely had to try to improve the faecal mess that was the first.

That's laughable, Assassin's Creed had an extremely amazing environment that fulfills what you search for in a game ie. immersion and escapism

You wanted improvements, If every game must always do something not done before we would have stopped making games by 2004 or simply stopped making sequels.

Oh and there's a lot more weapons now in addition to a hidden gun and a poison blade.

So sticking in a few more generic weapons makes a game good now? Times have changed.

Overusing the word generic doesn't make you smart.

Batman: AA was non-linear? The hell you smoking? Just because you heard a genre of music doesn't make every single song in the genre bad. What game put's you in the Third Crusade and the Renaissance? No seriously give me the name of a game based in any of those periods.

In short, f*** you because you're a f***ing idiot.
