*insert gasp here* I've never played a Final Fantasy game

Ok, so I've never played a Final Fantasy game, not really anyways. I've sat down and used the controller to do stuff, but I've never owned or really played a FF game, so here's my question:

 

What Final Fantasy game would you recommend for a newbie to the series that can be played on the PS2?

 

I already know FF7 and FF8 are some of the best, according to my friends, but my parents are probably going to be the ones buying it and they might be hard to find. If possible, I would like it to be one made for the PS2, but it isn't necessary.

You could try FF7, but I've never played it, I've only heard it's good. I only started playing FF recently (about a month ago) and started with FF1 and FF2 for the GBA.

Or maybe if you can't decide on a Final Fantasy Game, maybe you should get Kingdom Hearts? KH is awesome.

Final Fantasy 7.

It's expensive as a disk set, but if you've got a PS3, you can buy it over Playstation Network for $10.

It is insanely good. I played it nonstop when I got it first. Despite being 12 years old, it's practically addicting.

I've played and beaten both KH and KH2 and almost beat chain of memories.

 

Anyways, since i can't decide, I'm going to tell my parents 7, 10, or 12 since I've heard lots of good stuff about all 3, so yeah.

Just VII and X that's about the only 2 FF games I hear about that are extremely worth playing for the PS2.

If you can get FF& then do it is the game of games, without doubt the best of the bunch. The best of PS2 is FFX then a close second is FFXII, FFX-2 is for hardcore fans I think so avoid it like the plague it does suck monkey nuts lol!!! Oh and everyone has overlooked FF9.

 

Has anyone else noticed between all your friends there is a bit of a marmite feelin towards FF8??

Skew PS2 FF Games, get IV for teh DS or buy teh original.

 

Anywho, I'd say go with VII, VIII or X. They're my PS2 faves.
