Drake: Forever

Stupid rich boy need to go back to his day job at Degrassi.

I don't even need to be a big fan of hip-hop/rap to know that this guy seriously sucks.

Leave rap/hip-hop to the pioneers' date=' they were the only ones who knew how to do it right.

[/quote']

if we used your logic, then rakim's oldest songs would be playing on tv everyday, which would just get boring after a while. And do you hate him bcuz of where he came from and what he's done before, or have you actually listen to his songs and think that he can't rap?

I try to keep an open mind but I just have a different view on rap/hip-hop.

I don't dislike him because he is from a TV show but he was just better off staying there, since his music is (in my opinion) terrible.

Death Metal doesn't know a damn thing about Rap. Which is why we need a Hip-hop / Rap Flamethrower. To make the ignorant ones like him leave.

If he actually bothered to listen to the lyrics, he'd have something more valuable to say.

Your totally right.

Let's look at these lyrics.

[spoiler=Lyrics from the song Forever]

[ Chorus ] *Drake*

It may not mean nothing to y'all

But understand nothing was done for me

So I don't plan on stopping at all

I want this sheet forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

I'm shutting sheet down in the mall

And tellin' every girl she the one for me

And I ain't even planning to call

I want this sheet forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

[ Verse 1 ] *Drake*

Last name Ever, first name Greatest

Like a sprained ankle boy, I ain't nothin' to play with

Started off local, but thanks to all the haters

I know G4 pilots on a first name basis

And your city faded off to brown, Nino

She insists she got mo' class, we know

Swimmin' in the money, come and find me, Nemo

If I was at the club you know I ball, chemo

Dropped a mixtape, that sheet sounded like an album

Who'd have thought a country wide tour be the outcome

Labels want my name beside an X like Malcolm

Everybody got a deal, I did it without one

Yeah, jabroni, I'm about my business

Killin' all these rappers, you would swear I had a hitlist

Everyone who doubted me is askin' for forgiveness

If you ain't been a part of it, at least you got to witness, bastards

[ Chorus ] *Drake*

It may not mean nothing to y'all

But understand nothing was done for me

So I don't plan on stopping at all

I want this sheet forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

I'm shutting sheet down in the mall

And tellin' every girl she the one for me

And I ain't even planning to call

I want this sheet forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

[ Verse 2 ] *Kanye West*

I used to have hood dreams, big fame, big chains

I stuck my dick inside this life until that jabroni came

And went hard all fall like the ball teams

Just so I could make it rain, all spring

Y'all seen my story, my glory

I had raped the game young, you could call it statutory

When a jabroni blow up, they gon' build statues for me

Old money, Benjamin Button, what? nothin'

Nuh, superbad chicks giving me McLovin

You would think I ran the world like Michelle's husband

You would think these niggas know me when they really doesn't

Like they was down with the old me, no you fuckin' wasn't (fuckin' wasn't)

Uh, you're such a fuckin' loser

He ain't even go to class, Bueller

Trade the Grammy plaques just to have my granny back

'member she had that bad hip like a fanny pack?

Chasing the stardom'll turn you to a maniac

All the way in Hollywood and I can't even act

They pull their cameras out, and God damn they snap

I used to want this thing forever, y'all can have it back

[ Chorus ] *Drake*

It may not mean nothing to y'all

But understand nothing was done for me

So I don't plan on stopping at all

I want this sheet forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

I'm shutting sheet down in the mall

And tellin' every girl she the one for me

And I ain't even planning to call

I want this sheet forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

[ Verse 3 ] *Lil Wayne*

Ok, hello it's the martian, Space Jam Jordans

I want this sheet forever, wake up and smell the garden

Fresher than the harvest, step up to the target

If I had one guess, then I guess I'm just New Orleans

And I will never stop like I'm running from the cops

Hopped up in my car, and told my chauffeur to the top

Life is such a fuckin' rollercoaster then it drops

But what should I scream for? this is my theme park

My mind shine even when my thoughts seem dark

Pistol on my side you don't wanna hear that thing talk

Let the King talk, check the price and pay attention

Lil Wayne, thats what they gotta say or mention

I'm like Nevada in the middle of the summer

I'm restin' in the lead, I need a pillow and a cover

Shhh, my foot's sleepin on the gas

No break pads, no such thing as last

[ Chorus ] *Drake*

It may not mean nothing to y'all

But understand nothing was done for me

So I don't plan on stopping at all

I want this sheet forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

I'm shutting sheet down in the mall

And tellin' every girl she the one for me

And I ain't even planning to call

I want this sheet forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

[ Verse 4 ] *Eminem*

There they go, back in stadiums as Shady spits his flow

Nuts they go, macadamian, they go so ballistic whoa

We can make them look like Bozos

He's wonderin' if he should spit this slow

funk no! Go for broke

His cup just runneth over, oh no

He aint had a buzz like this since the last time he overdosed

They've been waiting patiently for Pinocchio to poke his nose

Back into the game and they know

Rap will never be the same as before

Bashin' into the brains of these hoes

And establishin a name as he goes

The passion and the flame is ignited

You can't put it out once we light it

This sheet is exactly what the funk that I'm talking bout when we riot

You dealin' with a few true villians

Who stand inside of the booth truth spillin'

And spit true feelings until our tooth fillings

Come flying up out of our mouths, now rewind it!

Payback muthafucka for the way that you got at me

So how's it taste?

When I slap the taste outta your mouth

With the bass so loud that it shakes the place

I'm Hannibal Lecter, so just incase

You was thinkin of savin face

You aint gonna have no face to save

By the time I'm through with this place, so Drake

[ Chorus ] *Drake*

It may not mean nothing to y'all

But understand nothing was done for me

So I don't plan on stopping at all

I want this sheet forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

I'm shutting sheet down in the mall

And tellin' every girl she the one for me

And I ain't even planning to call

I want this sheet forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

Let compare these to a song by Immortal Technique.

[spoiler=The Lyrics for Death March]

[DJ Green Lantern]

This is an invasion, an occupation

Immortal Technique, the evil genius DJ Green Lantern

And you're now in the state of guerilla warfare

It has been spread by the superpowers of the industry

To the 3rd World underground of the streets

This is for all those who've been labeled extemists, maniacs, terrorists

sheet.. Welcome to the 3rd World

[immortal Technique]

Yeah.. Yeah..

Invansion and rampant monetary inflation

That brought us all to the footsteps of this nation

Peruvians, Haitians, Ecuadorians, Nicaraguans, Colombians, Salvadorians

Invansion and rampant monetary inflation

That brought us all to the footsteps of this nation

[2x]

Invansion and rampant monetary inflation

That brought us all to the footsteps of this nation

Peruvians, Haitians, Ecuadorians, Nicaraguans, Colombians, Salvadorians

They call us terrorists after they ruined our countries

Funding right-wing paramilitary monkeys

Tortured our populace then blamed the communists

Your lies are too obvious, propoganda monotanous

And that's not socialist mythology

This is urban warfare through the streets of your psychology

So I'm like the legs of a paraplegic really

Cause I'm still part of you even if you can't feel me

You can never debate me, The M4s at your baby

Like troops with gats in Iraq do daily

So you can marginalize the way you portray me

But don't get Hollywood and try to play me

We can shoot it out in the theater like troops in the 80s

New Jack City classic crap era, mack-milli

Shouting BET is not black-owned on Rap City

You got a contract to kill me JABRONI, that's fine

Cause there's a contract to kill your family when I die

So when your car explodes, don't be surprised

Soldier, I'm like Marine Corp C4

Even blow the spot with the beat rocking at 3/4

Canvas the flow like the ghost of Michaelangelo

This is the anthem, Immortal Technique and Green Lantern

Don't say sheet jabroni, you don't want the "check, check"

To become a ..chick, chick.. You know what I'm sick with

Lyrical tuberculosis, cocaine overdoses

Blood coming out your noses, that's when death approaches

March to my death smilin, laugh if the end's violent

There's no escape from this political asylum

Revolutionaries don't fear execution

Cause the death of my visible Constitution

Is just the beginning of spiritual evolution

God will reincarnate me as revolution

[DJ Green Lantern]

You can't take out a revolution

You can't kill a idea

funk is you stupid?

You kill that man, be becomes Immortal

[immortal Technique]

Ignore the triplets, this is a fully loaded four-four

3rd World underground hardcore

Street-hop, locked and loaded, JABRONI you should know it

Blast the door to the game open and overthrow it

Now tell me you don't see the dramatic difference between the guy who sings about himself and the guy who sings about real world problems.

Maybe I'm not some tool who sits by the radio and bops my head to the cool song of the week but I know the difference between good rap and bad rap.

Feel free to disagree with me, I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all or an asshole but I just want you to understand my opinion on the matter.

Sorry in advance if this offends you, it's not my intention to start a huge flame war.

@Death Metal

i respect your opinion if you think rap/hip hop is bad, it just sounded like you hated drake from his TV show and not his music. And with you argument about Drake vs Immortal Technique, a lot of rap is bragging about how good you are, that's reality. some people talk about the chain on their neck, some use metaphors and play with words to do it. Actually, most if not all of the the greatest rappers bragged about them self in some way.

I don't mind hip-hop/rap.

Hell, I even listen to it frequently. Every genre of music has problems, even Death Metal. I just like to have a moral or reason behind the lyrics, which to me is the second most important part of a song, right behind the instrumental work. Conceitedness is part of human nature so I understand how one could brag about themselves but it's becoming a commonly reoccurring theme within the rap and hip-hop industry and that is what bothers me the most.

If that makes any sense. =p

I want this s*** forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

I'm shutting s*** down in the mall

And tellin' every girl she the one for me

And I ain't even planning to call

I want this s*** forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

[ Verse 4 ] *Eminem*

There they go, back in stadiums as Shady spits his flow

Nuts they go, macadamian, they go so ballistic whoa

We can make them look like Bozos

He's wonderin' if he should spit this slow

f*** no! Go for broke

His cup just runneth over, oh no

He aint had a buzz like this since the last time he overdosed

They've been waiting patiently for Pinocchio to poke his nose

Back into the game and they know

Rap will never be the same as before

Bashin' into the brains of these hoes

And establishin a name as he goes

The passion and the flame is ignited

You can't put it out once we light it

This s*** is exactly what the f*** that I'm talking bout when we riot

You dealin' with a few true villians

Who stand inside of the booth truth spillin'

And spit true feelings until our tooth fillings

Come flying up out of our mouths, now rewind it!

Payback muthafucka for the way that you got at me

So how's it taste?

When I slap the taste outta your mouth

With the bass so loud that it shakes the place

I'm Hannibal Lecter, so just incase

You was thinkin of savin face

You aint gonna have no face to save

By the time I'm through with this place, so Drake

[ Chorus ] *Drake*

It may not mean nothing to y'all

But understand nothing was done for me

So I don't plan on stopping at all

I want this s*** forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

Let compare these to a song by Immortal Technique.

[spoiler=The Lyrics for Death March]

[DJ Green Lantern]

This is an invasion, an occupation

Immortal Technique, the evil genius DJ Green Lantern

And you're now in the state of guerilla warfare

It has been spread by the superpowers of the industry

To the 3rd World underground of the streets

This is for all those who've been labeled extemists, maniacs, terrorists

s***.. Welcome to the 3rd World

[immortal Technique]

Yeah.. Yeah..

Invansion and rampant monetary inflation

That brought us all to the footsteps of this nation

Peruvians, Haitians, Ecuadorians, Nicaraguans, Colombians, Salvadorians

Invansion and rampant monetary inflation

That brought us all to the footsteps of this nation

[2x]

Invansion and rampant monetary inflation

That brought us all to the footsteps of this nation

Peruvians, Haitians, Ecuadorians, Nicaraguans, Colombians, Salvadorians

They call us terrorists after they ruined our countries

Funding right-wing paramilitary monkeys

Tortured our populace then blamed the communists

Your lies are too obvious, propoganda monotanous

And that's not socialist mythology

This is urban warfare through the streets of your psychology

So I'm like the legs of a paraplegic really

Cause I'm still part of you even if you can't feel me

You can never debate me, The M4s at your baby

Like troops with gats in Iraq do daily

So you can marginalize the way you portray me

But don't get Hollywood and try to play me

We can shoot it out in the theater like troops in the 80s

New Jack City classic crap era, mack-milli

Shouting BET is not black-owned on Rap City

You got a contract to kill me motherf***er, that's fine

Cause there's a contract to kill your family when I die

So when your car explodes, don't be surprised

Soldier, I'm like Marine Corp C4

Even blow the spot with the beat rocking at 3/4

Canvas the flow like the ghost of Michaelangelo

This is the anthem, Immortal Technique and Green Lantern

Don't say s*** b****, you don't want the "check, check"

To become a ..chick, chick.. You know what I'm sick with

Lyrical tuberculosis, cocaine overdoses

Blood coming out your noses, that's when death approaches

March to my death smilin, laugh if the end's violent

There's no escape from this political asylum

Revolutionaries don't fear execution

Cause the death of my visible Constitution

Is just the beginning of spiritual evolution

God will reincarnate me as revolution

[DJ Green Lantern]

You can't take out a revolution

You can't kill a idea

f*** is you stupid?

You kill that man, be becomes Immortal

[immortal Technique]

Ignore the triplets, this is a fully loaded four-four

3rd World underground hardcore

Street-hop, locked and loaded, motherf***er you should know it

Blast the door to the game open and overthrow it

Now tell me you don't see the dramatic difference between the guy who sings about himself and the guy who sings about real world problems.

Maybe I'm not some tool who sits by the radio and bops my head to the cool song of the week but I know the difference between good rap and bad rap.

Feel free to disagree with me, I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all or an asshole but I just want you to understand my opinion on the matter.

Sorry in advance if this offends you, it's not my intention to start a huge flame war.

Nas, Tupac and Biggie sang about themself.

Just say it, Hip Hop is dead.

Hip Hop is dead.

Even after it's dead MTV and the Radio have continued to mutilate it's dead corpse into something that sounds almost nothing like it's predecessors. Then again, that is the music business right? At least there are still some good artists out there but most of the good ones are already dead.

Stupid rich boy need to go back to his day job at Degrassi.

I don't even need to be a big fan of hip-hop/rap to know that this guy seriously sucks.

Leave rap/hip-hop to the pioneers' date=' they were the only ones who knew how to do it right.

if we used your logic, then rakim's oldest songs would be playing on tv everyday, which would just get boring after a while.

Last name Ever, first name Greatest

She insists she got mo' class, we know

Swimmin' in the money, come and find me, Nemo

If I was at the club you know I ball, chemo

Who'd have thought a country wide tour be the outcome

Labels want my name beside an X like Malcolm

Everybody got a deal, I did it without one

Everyone who doubted me is askin' for forgiveness

Nas, Tupac and Biggie sang about themself.

Just say it, Hip Hop is dead.

Do I have to get on the Tupac thing again? Tupac was not the average mother funker who couldn't help but praise himself. This dude was a funking genius. He foretold his own death, all the while encouraging his people to get up outta the ghetto. And even then, he could spit lyrics about his mama.

Rap is only conceited when you bring in negative minded amateurs to the game. Human nature is valid, but the human mind overwrites that entirely, thus Tupac.

And if most of the good Hip-Hop Artists were already dead, there would be no Hip-Hop industry. It really would be dead. But none of you niggas seem to get that the industry can't die so long as people like myself are still here.

Oh and Death Metal, your argument was invalid. Because if you compared every rapper's lyrics to something like that of Immortal Technique's, you'd know that more than 60% of rappers spit about the same real world ideas and problems. That was just your way of bullshitting your way out. Try again. And if you want more examples, I can get 'em.

Dude, I'm sorry, but shut up. There are these things called opinions. Yeah, we have them. Death Metal even said he was just stating his opinion. Not everyone has to have the same view on music as you. Even what you're are saying is an opinion. I disagree with about half of what you said, because it's an opinion. We all have opinions. Now, what about opinions do you find so hard to understand?

Don't say s*** b****, you don't want the "check, check"

To become a ..chick, chick.. You know what I'm sick with

Lyrical tuberculosis, cocaine overdoses

Blood coming out your noses, that's when death approaches

March to my death smilin, laugh if the end's violent

There's no escape from this political asylum

Revolutionaries don't fear execution

Cause the death of my visible Constitution

Is just the beginning of spiritual evolution

God will reincarnate me as revolution

[DJ Green Lantern]

You can't take out a revolution

You can't kill a idea

f*** is you stupid?

You kill that man, be becomes Immortal

[immortal Technique]

Ignore the triplets, this is a fully loaded four-four

3rd World underground hardcore

Street-hop, locked and loaded, motherf***er you should know it

Blast the door to the game open and overthrow it

Now tell me you don't see the dramatic difference between the guy who sings about himself and the guy who sings about real world problems.

Maybe I'm not some tool who sits by the radio and bops my head to the cool song of the week but I know the difference between good rap and bad rap.

Feel free to disagree with me, I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all or an asshole but I just want you to understand my opinion on the matter.

Sorry in advance if this offends you, it's not my intention to start a huge flame war.

Nas, Tupac and Biggie sang about themself.

Just say it, Hip Hop is dead.

Do I have to get on the Tupac thing again? Tupac was not the average mother f***er who couldn't help but praise himself. This dude was a f***ing genius.

Pac's gone right?

Don't get me wrong but Pac and Biggie changed the industry once, they're both gone and do what you will and try to commerce their songs and try to make up stuff that's supposed to help Rap back into its fit, it won't help.

The industry might not've changed, but rap did, and its transformation killed it.

[spoiler=Lyrics from the song Forever]

[ Chorus ] *Drake*

It may not mean nothing to y'all

But understand nothing was done for me

So I don't plan on stopping at all

I want this s*** forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

I'm shutting s*** down in the mall

And tellin' every girl she the one for me

And I ain't even planning to call

I want this s*** forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

[ Verse 1 ] *Drake*

Last name Ever, first name Greatest

Like a sprained ankle boy, I ain't nothin' to play with

Started off local, but thanks to all the haters

I know G4 pilots on a first name basis

And your city faded off to brown, Nino

She insists she got mo' class, we know

Swimmin' in the money, come and find me, Nemo

If I was at the club you know I ball, chemo

Dropped a mixtape, that s*** sounded like an album

Who'd have thought a country wide tour be the outcome

Labels want my name beside an X like Malcolm

Everybody got a deal, I did it without one

Yeah, jabroni, I'm about my business

Killin' all these rappers, you would swear I had a hitlist

Everyone who doubted me is askin' for forgiveness

If you ain't been a part of it, at least you got to witness, b****es

[ Chorus ] *Drake*

It may not mean nothing to y'all

But understand nothing was done for me

So I don't plan on stopping at all

I want this s*** forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

I'm shutting s*** down in the mall

And tellin' every girl she the one for me

And I ain't even planning to call

I want this s*** forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

[ Verse 2 ] *Kanye West*

I used to have hood dreams, big fame, big chains

I stuck my dick inside this life until that b**** came

I want this s*** forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

I'm shutting s*** down in the mall

And tellin' every girl she the one for me

And I ain't even planning to call

I want this s*** forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

[ Verse 3 ] *Lil Wayne*

Ok, hello it's the martian, Space Jam Jordans

I want this s*** forever, wake up and smell the garden

I want this s*** forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

I'm shutting s*** down in the mall

And tellin' every girl she the one for me

And I ain't even planning to call

I want this s*** forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

[ Verse 4 ] *Eminem*

There they go, back in stadiums as Shady spits his flow

Nuts they go, macadamian, they go so ballistic whoa

We can make them look like Bozos

He's wonderin' if he should spit this slow

f*** no! Go for broke

His cup just runneth over, oh no

He aint had a buzz like this since the last time he overdosed

They've been waiting patiently for Pinocchio to poke his nose

Back into the game and they know

Rap will never be the same as before

Bashin' into the brains of these hoes

And establishin a name as he goes

The passion and the flame is ignited

You can't put it out once we light it

This s*** is exactly what the f*** that I'm talking bout when we riot

You dealin' with a few true villians

Who stand inside of the booth truth spillin'

And spit true feelings until our tooth fillings

Come flying up out of our mouths, now rewind it!

Payback muthafucka for the way that you got at me

So how's it taste?

When I slap the taste outta your mouth

With the bass so loud that it shakes the place

I'm Hannibal Lecter, so just incase

You was thinkin of savin face

You aint gonna have no face to save

By the time I'm through with this place, so Drake

[ Chorus ] *Drake*

It may not mean nothing to y'all

But understand nothing was done for me

So I don't plan on stopping at all

I want this s*** forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

I'm shutting s*** down in the mall

And tellin' every girl she the one for me

And I ain't even planning to call

I want this s*** forever mayne ('ever mayne, 'ever mayne)

This is an invasion, an occupation

Immortal Technique, the evil genius DJ Green Lantern

And you're now in the state of guerilla warfare

It has been spread by the superpowers of the industry

To the 3rd World underground of the streets

This is for all those who've been labeled extemists, maniacs, terrorists

s***.. Welcome to the 3rd World

Yeah.. Yeah..

That brought us all to the footsteps of this nation

Peruvians, Haitians, Ecuadorians, Nicaraguans, Colombians, Salvadorians

Funding right-wing paramilitary monkeys

Tortured our populace then blamed the communists

Your lies are too obvious, propoganda monotanous

And that's not socialist mythology

This is urban warfare through the streets of your psychology

So I'm like the legs of a paraplegic really

Cause I'm still part of you even if you can't feel me

You can never debate me, The M4s at your baby

Like troops with gats in Iraq do daily

So you can marginalize the way you portray me

But don't get Hollywood and try to play me

We can shoot it out in the theater like troops in the 80s

New Jack City classic crap era, mack-milli

Shouting BET is not black-owned on Rap City

You got a contract to kill me motherf***er, that's fine

Cause there's a contract to kill your family when I die

Soldier, I'm like Marine Corp C4

Even blow the spot with the beat rocking at 3/4

The industry might not've changed, but rap did, and its transformation killed it.

i agree notorious. but i blame society and US government.

when 2pac was still with us, rap was probably at its highest when it came 2 him. almost the whole game wanted him out, as prior to the shooting(the one where he blames diddy, biggie, someone else) it was seemed to the media that alot of the rappers goin there knew about this b4 the shooting happened. then the stories of him deciding 2 bcome muslim. the government heard this, n so they had enough of choosing 2 kill him. bcuse in his songs u cood hear the lyrics clear n sometimes u wood hear him talkin about (with the result official) how the government is is bein fnked up and wat they were doin 2 him. so of course they had 2 shut him up. they got the people 2 kill him. so society is also i blame. suge knight got his guys 2 kill him. same happened 2 proof. he was reavealing content of freemasonry-american connections or something like that. so they made it clear killing him at that club.

society comes here 4 the most now. since pac's gone, or so they say, people forgot about him. now these bastards like trey songz, soulja boy, etc. decide," hey, i think im better than those old geezers. i can rap!"

and now here we are in my neighbor hood. the girls and boys r listening 2 those retards n r like," yo this is so live! this is the chru rap! its sick!" but no. n then i try 2 put a screw in their head, their like, " nooo r u dum? these guys r the best! just go n listen 2 the corpse's music, or the sycho's rhyming, u dont know rap! their music ruining it!" but no. wen god is giving them the oppertunities of future legends like eminem, they dont care n go to horrible $H!+ like the new boyz, gucci maine,(WAT THE F*K OF A NAME IS THAT!?) chris brown, and them. with the government.

These are examples of good Hip/Hop.

Pretty much every mainstream hiphop album that came out after the turn of the recent millenium is bad.

IYO.

why did this thread becoming such an arguement? anyways' date=' I still love the song Forever (no one can deny that eminem went crazy on this track).

[/quote']

Eminem killed the whole track by himself. :P

Oh, and on the topic of Gucci Mane, Soulja Boy, and retards like them, it is inevitable to say that they are embarrassments to the Hip-Hop industry.

Well. Here's the thing about mainstream. The Label pays the artist a lot of money to decide what their image is going to be. What you end up getting is a rapper who used to be good turning into a sellout that raps about selling drugs and having sex with women in bikinis. These rappers leave impressions (subconscious or not) on a large percentage of young people who listen to the music (particularly' date=' poor black males and suburban white kids). These kids then connect the dots and realize that if they sell drugs, they'll start banging hot chicks and buying lots of rings and necklaces. As soon as they start selling their drugs, they meet a GOOD drug dealer who leaves an even larger impression on them because he DOES have an expensive car and expensive clothes and he DID sell drugs to get it. The difference between our upcoming drug dealer and the successful drug dealer is that the successful drug dealer sells to a select group of people, has reserve money for a lawyer, and has taken plenty of other safety precautions (which will probably fail him eventually anyway). Okay, now our kid is ready to start selling drugs. He is successful for about... 6 months. He gets a call from someone setting up a drug deal somewhere within a mile-wide radius of a school zone. So the kid goes to meet these people and finds that there's about 20 cop cars around him because the person he's [i']selling[/i] too was busted his/herself, and is narking to keep out of jail (because that's what cops do, they blackmail people into narking). So now the kid is going to jail with some hefty charges unless he narks. Naturally he chooses not to nark, because that would be CONSIDERABLY more dangerous for him than just doing his bid. As soon as he gets out of jail, he decides that he's done with the drug game and starts looking for a job. No one will hire him though! That's because he's a convicted felon now. He can't go to college, he can't get a job, he can't do sheet. Unless he gets a break from SOMEONE and actually gets a job or acceptance from a college, he's going to probably sell drugs again because that's ALL HE CAN DO. Rinse and repeat. After getting caught with drugs 3 times he is sent to state for life. All of this happened to him because of a slur of subconscious attacks, including music choice, friends... and more...

Meanwhile: the rap artist, who was probably college educated, raps about selling drugs or being a gang to get rich even though that's not how he got rich at all.

Or he does like Soulja Boy and raps about how funking retarded cool he looks when he does his revolutionary dance, which I suppose doesn't have any affects like the ones I described on a kid... But it's still funking dumb as sheet.

Either way, it sucks dick.

Tl;dr: funk the industry, funk cops, and funk mainstream artists like Lil' Wayne and Soulja Boy too.

Eminem doesn't really count as traditional mainstream.

Because he came into the game late. But he came in with Dre. What's your point?

He doesn't really count as mainstream because mainstream is an insult. =\

Name one good thing that's mainstream. TWILIGHT, ADAM LAMBERT, LIL' WAYNE...

I just saw two songs by him. They ft. Chris Brown and Lil' Wayne. I automatically assumed they would suck.

I listened to the one with Lil' Wayne. It did suck.

OMG, that is the worst case scenario. If you really believe this happens that much at all, your crazy. i understand how you can hate mainstream, but if it's because of this, you hatred is completley irrational.

OT: eminem is by far the best, but i still like kanye, wayne, and drake. (wayne's verse was the worst, but he wasn't terrible)
