I've got another RP, this time a possible teaching RP.

You play a crewmember on the TCNS Yuri Gagarin, a long-range "pathfinder" ship, a ship that can survive for years without any other human contact, as well as be able to establish a fully-functional colony on a planet. The ship is equipped with the latest Drill Drive, as well as self-defense systems against any hostiles. Basically, you work with the other crewmembers as theship travels around.

That's pretty much a Life RP in space. Give it a more interesting plot or it will degrade into a common Life RP. Maybe space zombies? Space pirates? Random teleportation? Infection?

Well, they will have to contend with other alien species that they come across, some of which might be hostile, as they explore various star systems looking for a suitable home for their colony.

That's a good base for a plot, but it needs a hook. Something radically different to add something different to the RP.

Also' date=' make sure to include fakemon in your RP, it keeps it from being too stale and, to prevent a massive influx of Digimon lines used in the anime, make a rule that no two people can have the same Digimon and that no one can use a Digimon line from the anime (which is where fakemon would come in handy)

 

And, make sure that the Digimon are characters, not just living breathing weapons and have a unique Digivice at the very least, maybe make it different for each person so that the RPers need to use some creativity

The problem with fakemon is that too many noobs start posting applications that just begin to piss me off.

Well, ask them for pictures of the fakemon, as to prevent them from just coming up with crazy fakemon and ruining the RP.

No. Bad idea. Then you get pictures of Sephiroth and have things like KingEmperorChaosdrangemon. Make them write it out. in excruciating detail. Trust me when I say that will work better than anything as quality control.

 

Btw, I'm very fond of Fakemon as far as digimon is concerned. The anime itself makes up the things essentially on the spot, and more than any other mon series, it makes you feel like you're just copying what's already been done if you use existing guys.

I want it to be based around three separate organizations, who don't realize they're but puppets to a higher power. I also want to incorporate, not special abilities, but special weapons. Weapons that emphasize the character's fighting style of choice.

 

For example:

Well I've just recently joined the Role-Play community, and I plan on making my own RP. Where the story is about a massive MMO game called F.A.R. (Fully Automated Robots). And as the title implies, it's about robots....er....mechs (whichever you prefer). The main idea of the RP basicaly came from an Manga I've been wanting to work on, but because of my shecdule, I've been denied that chance. So I just thought "Why not share the fun?" So I decided to make it into a RP.

 

The begining of the Story starts out with a guy named Erin Farly (that's actually my name in real-life), who made a Story....er....manga where there was this massive MMO game, about peopel taking there Mechs, and battling against each other. Something like in the .Hack series, and Dragon Drive. So a couple of decades down the road, his.....I guess my dream comes true where the technology is advance enough, where I can finally get my wish come true.

 

But at first, the game F.A.R. starts out as a arcade/console game. But later evoloves into this giant MMO game, which is really popular with the world (Again, like the .Hack series). Where people are literally fighting with each other across the globe!!! And they can fight with any mech they so choose. Like Gundamns, Zoids, those mechs from Evagellion, and Vandread. All this takes place in an timespan of 100 years (where I'm most likely dead by then).

 

And just like anything that uses computers, and internet usage, F.A.R. gets a type of virus, which at first, is deemed as a nuisance, and the owners of the game try to delete it, but it's immune to any diagnoses, and programs. Where the virus eventually grows, and becomes more violent, where it interferes with players, and causes problems, like lose of data. But it gets much worse, where the Virus itself becomes so unstable that it targets the CPU's of major governments, and there military CPU's. Then the U.N. tells my greatest creation to be shut down, because of a Nuclear bomb threat that the Virus did on a Military CPU. But then I protest (even though I'm dead in the series), that we can take care of the virus, and delete it.

 

But the U.N ignore's my plea anyway, and shuts down the game. But when they do, a mass majority of players are still online, and they get stuck in the game (There minds are in the game though).

 

Well that's how far I've gotten. So I really need feedback on this.

Give us details about this virus. Does it manifest itself in the game interface? If so, why? Is this a virtual reality game? Do the players manifest as pilots or the mechs themselves? What are the conditions for death? And most importantly, how do they get the hell out?

Hahahahaha!!!! Thank you Otaku-Sama. But I think I speak for every creator when I say that the greastest beef for us are questions like that. Again, Thank You, since I myself haven't thought of these.

 

Now I have a bad habit of making up things up on the spot. With that being said:

 

When you suggested the term 'death' that was never my original intent, since all they're doing is just fighting each other via. Mechs, where one person loses, they lose. Simple as that. But what I'm debating about right now is "Should the RP take place in the Mechs themselves, or should it be carried out by the players? Not the Mechs, but the Players. Like in the .Hack series."

 

Moving on here:

 

When you asked about the Virus, it's like saying "How did the Zombies arrive in George A Romero's moive, Dawn of the Dead appeared?" Now I'm not trying to bag on you Otaku-Sama, but what I'm impling is that sometimes the greatest mystery don't have to be revealed. And orginally, my main focus wasn't on the virus itself. I only introduced the virus character as a anchor. To get the plot moving, and to use it as a type of Antagainst. But as the game part. Yes, it is a Viturtual Reality game.

 

But for the past of the player piloting the Mech, I was thinking of giving the player a type of parthner. Like a A.I. Co-Pilot, to help the player move forward. Like in the Digimon series (if you have watched that show), where they're giving an parthner to fight with. Or the player can choose an another player as a Co-Pilot.

 

Lastly, I've also been debating about how should the story progess. I already know that I mentioned this earlier, but I'm wondering how the story should be told. Through the Mechs, where the players are controlling them most of the time. Or by the players, where they're doing most of the action, instead of the Mechs.

 

P.S. I myself am not sure on how they would get out.

What I meant by 'death' was memory deletion due to the mind been trapped within the game, unless of course they can respawn.

Memory Deletion eh? Well I'll be honest, I had many influences when thinking of the plot of this. Namely the Matrix series, Digimon, and the .Hack series. Now if you don't mind me asking, how would you solve that problem? Since I really don't have a clue about that now, since you brought up that subject. I'm now thinking about that now. Well I'm just making up now, is that they fall in an type of coma. Put them in a life and death sitution. Something like the Matrix. Where when they die in the Matrix, there mind thinks it' so real that it litteraly dies on them, where in physical human anttomy, the body can't live without the brain,

 

But I wanna ease up on the violence a bit, so I'm just thinking of putting them into a comma, where they might die, or might live.

 

How does that sound?

Well, when a body loses it's conciousness (mind), it can still operate autonomously as the brain is still physically operating on an unconciousness level. I assume that when the protagonists are trapped in the game, their bodies are merely left in a comatose state until the mind is returned to the body.

Errrr.......Yeah....Yeah!! That's exactly what I was thinking! But so far for now, my only problem is just how the story should be unfolded. Through the mechs, where they are doing all/most of the action, of the players, where they are doing all/most of the action. I've been thinking about trying to merge both, but for some reason, it doesn't really pan out in my mind. But for now, I think I'll just wing it.
