Another Percy Jackson? Nothing is overdone. You can take the basics of one things and turn it into a completely different thing.

It's not 'Percy Jackson'. >_>

It won't be based off of already existing Gods. I'm making up practically everything. The only that makes it 'slightly' related to Percy Jackson, is the fact that it uses the word 'God' and 'Demigod'.

How about using an existing system of gods that are little known? Maybe the Aztec or Bablyonian gods? If you want to make a proper polytheistic religion, you need a incredibly complicated web of marriages make it full of incestuous rape and messing with the mortals.

Nahnahnah. I might actually just not bother making any Gods and keep them unknown for the whole RP. The only known God would probably be the one that tells the PCs.

Like I said, they don't have to be the off-springs of the Gods, just beings of great power.

that sounds like it could be quite interesting. it would need a lot more then just fighting though. things like stuff happening between each match and there only being one match per weak would probably do well for leaving plenty of room for a proper story and lots of character development.

I was planning something like that.

So far, I'm sure of this:

The Demigods can pretty much be anything as long as it doesn't cross into god-modding.

The tournament will be held on a planet solely created for that tournament. There will be various different areas of battle and different tasks.

Also, whoever wins gains 3 reps and all of my points which, -looks at point count-, is a lot.

Nothing much to the people who don't care about it, but hey, nice incentive.

Otaku, I expect you of all people to know that I'll decline anybody if their god-mod or spam. I don't give warnings in my RPs, just bans.

I don't want to give a face to my Gods mainly because they don't need one. Hell, they barely do anything in the RP. The only God that has any significance would be the God that summoned the contestants.

Funny how those seem to be the only common lines between the ancient religions.

Anywho, I'm vehemently opposed to offering a tangible reward for 'winning'. Generally all it does is encourage players to RP to win, rather than to further a plot, develop character or do anything aside from try to scream "My Kung-Fu is better than yours is!" at the top of their lungs. Trust me, even good RPers aren't immune to getting carried away.

unfortunately, that is very true blazing hydra.

anyway, i had a couple of rp ideas that i wanted to share. i have been thinking about crating them, but need help filling in some of the details. anyone care to share any ideas that they might have?

[spoiler=rp ideas]

[spoiler=trigun rp]

It is now many centuries after the final events of Trigun. Plants and humans now live side by side in peace, and the desert planet now much more closely resembles Earth. However, there are always those that would take advantage of the plants kind and giving natures. Many of them have been led away into captivity and are being used as energy supplies. This leads to another plant who takes the same stance as Knives once had, to "kill the spiders in order to save the butterflies". However, there is also someone who wants to save both, just like before. However, unlike Vash, he is not opposed to squashing a few of the 'spiders' to save the rest, if there is no other way to be found. Thanks to advances in technology, humans can now wear armor that to a limited extent will afford them some of the same powers that plants have. A number of humans want to destroy the plants, just like the one plant wants to destroy the humans. Most humans and plants want to find a peaceful way to end the conflict, although they will fight those causing the problem, and even each other, if need be. It is an uncertain time where relationships are not always what they seem, and the threat of war hangs over all like a black cloud.

that is what i have thus far. it still needs work though.

[spoiler=code geass rp]

It has now been sixty years since the the final events of Nightmare of Nunnally. Empress Euphemia and the nation of Brittania have joined the United Federation of Nations, and have been members of it for the past fifty years. All is peaceful in the world. However, all is not well. Unbeknown to all, many Brittanians, both pure blood and naturalized, who wish to ressurect Pax Brittania and begin conquering once again. The time of the Demon King is nigh upon them all, and Geass powers have been freely given once again by the new demon king, C.C., formerly Lelouch Vi Brittania, Lelouch Lamperouge, and Zero. this has given birth to a new generation of Wired Geass users. Some are part of the growing group of inssurectionists. Others are a part of the peace keeping force created by Zero himself, the Black Knights. In recent months, some members of the Black Knights have discovered the plot to resurrect Pax Brittania, and have started quietly amassing their forces, creating a new corps. of elite combat troops organized for the sole purpose of bringing the plans to resurrect Pax Brittania to an end, the Knights of Zero. The stage has been set, nearly all requirements have been cleared. now all that is left to do is inform Empress Euphemia of the situation, carefully choose a group of Brittanians to infiltrate the insurrectionists, and strike before they can realize their plans for a coup de'tat.

and that is what i have thus far for the code geass rp thus far. as you can see, it takes place after the events of Code Geass: Nightmare of Nunnally. any thoughts on either of my rp ideas?

Naturally, but I have an idea to sort of avoid this.

First of all, it won't always necessarily be a fight to the death. In some instances it might just be a vote off where Demigods vote off whoever they want, or a quest that involves puzzling and the slaying of some monsters. In some other cases it might be just a full blown out war, where the better Demigod commander wins.

Second of all, Demigods are naturally supposed to be strong. I'm not talking about Hercules strong, I'm more into the lines of fallen-angel-sniper strong. I'm trying to balance some creativity in character making, while not necessarily having overpowered characters.

But hey, if you have some ideas how to avid what you mention, do share. ;/
