Chapter 1

 

This moring I woke up to a frosted window and the sound of cheerful children running around outside. I was feeling just as cheerful as them. My name is Mimi Imray, I'm a 16 year old girl with long, green hair. I am 5"7 and I really enjoy duelling. Today, I am going to enrol at Duel Academy. The only thing I didn't know was that today wasn't like any other day. Something strange was going to happen to me...

 

After breakfast, I decided to have some fun before leaving for the 3 hour trip, so I ran outside to talk to some of my friends. Straight away, I spotted my best friend, Blossom. She is 13, but despite our age difference, I really enjoy hanging out with her. She has fairly short, platinum coloured hair that drops down to her shoulders. She is 5"3, only a few inches shorter then me, and just as I do, she loves duelling. I ran over to her to say hi, but she was focusing on something behind me. All I remember was hearing Blossom screaming out my name.

 

I woke up, and was laying down in my bed. My forehead was aching, so I decided to look in the mirror to see what could cause such pain. I had a bright yellow gem encrusted deeply in my forehead. I screamed, but it was like I was the only person on earth. I started to rush out of my room, but then noticed something quite strange. My duel disk had...changed? It wasn't possible, was it? I walked over to it and picked it up. Instead of being the vivid blue and orange it was usually, it was yellow and white. And what was this? There was yellow gems all around the brim of the duel disk. I wondered what had happened. I looked at the time. 12:30. Wait, 12:30!?! The bus left for duel academy in 5 minutes. I hadn't had time to say goodbye to my friends. The only friend to come with me was Blossom.

 

I hugged my Mum and Dad tightly, gave them a peck on the cheek, and walked onto the bus. "See you later!" I yelled, and then the bus left. I quickly located where Blossom was sitting, and then walked over to her and sat down. "Hey" I said.

"Hi," she replied. "How are you?"

"I'm fine," I replied. I knew Blossom was the only one who had seen what was behind me. I needed to know what it was. "Yourself?" I asked.

"I'm great," she replied.

"Awesome," I said quietly. "Hey. Blossom," I asked.

"Yes, Mimi?"

"You dont happen to remember what you saw behind me, do you?"

"What are you talking about?" she asked strangely.

"You know, when I walked over to you. You saw something behind me, and then my eyes closed."

"What? Are you feeling ok?" she asked.

"Yes, I answered. Oh, except for this." I lifted up the hair from my forehead and revealed the gem. Blossom just stared.

"Ummm..." said Blossom. Then she didn't reply for the rest of the trip.

 

When the bus stopped, every student stepped off the bus except Blossom. She still seemed to be shocked about what I had shown her 3 hours ago. "You coming?" I asked.

"Huh? Oh, yeah." she answered.

"Why are you so freaked out?" I asked.

"I just want you to be ok," she replied.

"Well, we better get going. We don't want to be late for orientation."

 

When we got to the main hall, the principal, Chancellor Sheppard, a young, fat man with a small beard, began to talk. "Welcome everyone, to Duel Academy! Before we start, I would like to make an announcement. There is going to be a new dorm, only admitting 5 students. The dorm is going to be the high dorm, and will be called...Horakhty Silver." Murmurs filled the gigantic hall. "Quiet! Now, I would like to announce to you that there is a brilliant new duelist here at the school. His name is Mathew. Mathew, could you please stand up?" A boy with short blonde hair stood up. He looked only about 14 years old and was very small. "Now, could everyone go to their entrance duel?"

 

I stood there, staring at my opponent. He was a muscular man, wearing a grey t-shirt and long, white skinny-jeans. "Hello, Mimi" he said. "My name is Denryna. I am your tester. Quickly now. You go first."

"Ok. Draw!" I yelled. "Excellent! I summon Skilled Dark Magician (ATK:1900) in attack mode. Then, I set a card and end my turn."

"Nice move. I draw. I summon, Goblin Attack Force (ATK:2200), and attack your monster." (6000+1900-2200=5700)

"Hmph."

"I set 2 face-down cards and end my turn."

"Draw! Now, I activate Mystical Space Typhoon. I destroy the face-down card in zone 2. Now, I summon Magician Valkyria (ATK:1600) in attack mode. After that, I activate Rush Recklessly, increasing her attack by 700. I destroy your Goblin Attack Force, and activate Magician's Circle. I choose to Special Summon Dark Magician Girl (ATK:2000). Then, I set a card and end my turn." (6000+2200-2300=5900)

"Ok," said Denryna. "A little damage isn't much. Draw. First, I summon Marauding Captain (ATK:1200) in attack mode, and activate his effect. Come forth, Command Knight (ATK:1200). Due to her effect, both her and my Marauding Captain get 400 attack points. Then, I equip Marauding Captain with Synchro Boost, putting his attack up to 2100. Now, Marauding Captain, destroy Dark Magician Girl!" (5700+2000-2100=5600) "With that, I end my turn."

"Wow," Mimi said. "You are a good duelist. Draw! Excellent. I activate Lightning Vortex, and then discard Apprentice Magician. Then, I summon Breaker the Magical Warrior (ATK:1600) and put 1 spell counter on him, increasing his attack to 1900. Now, I attack directly! (5900-1900=4000) I end my turn."

"Hmmm...I set a monster card, and end my turn."

"Ok. I activate Pot of Greed, and then activate the spell card, Polymerization. I summon Dark Paladin! (ATK:2900) That's not all. I activate, De-Fusion, and Special Summon Dark Magician (ATK:2500) and Buster Blader (ATK:2600). Now, Dark Magician, attack his face-down card."

"This card is Morphing Jar (DEF:600)," said Denryna. "I activate his effect, so we both discard our hands and then draw 5 new cards."

"Fine with me," I said. "Now, Breaker, attack! (4000-1900=2100)Then, Buster Blader, end this duel."

"I don't think so. I activate Sakuretsu Armor, destroy your Buster Blader." said Denryna.

"Ok, I end my turn."

"Draw!" I activate Fissure, then, I activate my face-down card, Waboku. Then, I summon D.D. Warrior Lady (ATK:1500), removing from play both our monsters. Then, I activate D.D.R. - Different Dimension Reincarnation, and bring back D.D. Warrior Lady (ATK:1500) by discarding Blizzard Warrior, and equip her with Axe of Despair, bringing her attack to 2500. I end my turn."

"Argh. I draw. I activate Brain Control, (5600-800=4800) taking control of your Warrior Lady. Now, I attack your Life Points directly, depleting all of your life points." (2100-2500=0)

"You duel with your heart, Mimi," said Denryna. "I wish you luck."

"You too!" I screamed, and then Denryna left.

 

Back at the hall, I walked over to Blossom. "So, how did your duel go?" I asked.

"Horrible. I lost!"

"Alwell, It's ok."

"Settle down everyone!" screamed the Chancellor. "It's now time to tell you what dormitory you are in." He then told everyone who was in Slifer Red, and they went up and got their outfits. "Now for Ra Yellow. Blossom, could you please come get your outfit?" Then he told everyone who was in Ra Yellow and Obelisk Blue. "Quiet now. First for Horakhty Silver...Mathew Dozen! Second...Lucas Dozen! Thirdly...Michael Loda! Fourthly...Bob Miniscule! Lastly...Mimi Imray!"

 

 

 

Chapter 2

 

I was shocked that I got accepted into Horakhty Silver. I walked up and got my Silver and White outfit. "Thanks," I whispered to Shepard. "I appreciate it."

"You're welcome," he replied. As I started to walk off the large, brown, wooden stage, I noticed a sad look on Blossom's face. I hadn't know why she was sad. I thought she would be happy about me getting into Horakhty Silver.

"What's wrong?" I asked intentively.

"Nothing, except I just wanted to be in the same dormatory as you. That's all," she answered quietly.

"Well, we can always hang out when we don't have class or dinner." I said.

"I guess. Well, I better get going. I have something to do," And with that, she left.

 

Later on, Blossom went to see the video's of the test duels. She wanted to know how good they were at duelling, so she decided to go to Denryna, who had a copy of the video. "Excuse me sir, could I please watch the video of the test duels? I would like to see how everyone duels."

"Sure," Denryna replied. "Here you go, take this." Denryna handed Blossom a small, rectangular, black Video Tape. Blossom ran back to her yellow dormatory and inserted the tape into the television. After an hour or so, Blossom had watched all 5 Horakhty Silver duels. She noticed that every duelist seemed to have something in common.

"Sure, they were all great duelists. That was something, but not what I had seen," Blossom thought to herself. "What was it? Their duel disks! That's what it was. There was 5 different duelists, and five different duel disks. They where all white, but they had different colours. Yellow, Red, Blue, Green and Purple. And...Wait, what?!?! They all had gems on the brim of the duel disk." And then she realized. The others must all have gems in their forehead aswell. But why only the people in Horakhty Silver? She had to find out.

 

Meanwhile, I went to say thankyou to Sheppard for accepting her into Horakhty Silver. When I was outside of the room, I heard the Chancellor talking. "Good job, Denryna." he said. "You have done your job excellently. You have conviced Mathew, Lucas, Michael, Bob and Mimi that they thought they got into Horakhty Silver for being good duelists. They are unaware that they only got accepted because they are the chosen ones." I walked into the large, scenic room.

"I heard what you just said," I exclaimed. "Explain it to me. Now!" I demanded.

"Denryna, could you please leave while I explain to Mimi what we were just talking about," Sheppard said. Denryna left the room, and the Chancellor started talking to me. "Mimi, as you heard, we didn't choose either of you because you are good duelists. We chose you because you are the chosen ones. Do you remember a few days ago, when you fainted?"

"Yes, how could I forget?" I replied.

"Well, Hashiharu, the Lord of Gems, cursed you. He made the 5 of you Gem Duelists. Gem Duelists are people who can create Gem Duels. Gem Duels are a special type of duel, which increases all the Gem Duelist's monster's attack and defence points by 500. Also, if their opponent loses, they get sent to the Gem Dimension. The Gem Dimension is a place where Gem Duelist's victims are sent, and they cannot leave unless all 5 Gem Duelists are killed, aswell as the Gem Lord." I just sat there with my eyes wide open and my mouth just as wide.

 

"How could I let this happen," I thought to myself. I never knew who I really was, but the power inside me was overwhelming. I had to have a Gem Duel. But I didn't want to lose, so I went to sleep to have a rest before I duelled.

 

The next morning, I woke up with a few cards on my chest. I picked them up and looked at them. They were Dark Magician of Chaos, Silent Magician Level 4 and Silent Magician Level 8. I was so excited. There was also a sheet of paper underneath them. It had a brief stratergy written on it. Excellent. Now, I needed someone to duel against. Who was someone I knew I could beat? Blossom! I ran to the Ra Yellow dormatory, and Blossom was standing outside. "Hey," she said.

"Hi," I replied. "Blossom, do you want to duel?"

"Sure, why not." She activated here duel disk. So did I. Suddenly, the whole world turned into a shiny, rainbow, gem like playing field. "What's happening?" Blossom asked.

"Don't you worry, Blossom," I answered. "It'll be ok. I'll go first. Draw. Now, I summon Silent Magician Level 4 (ATK:1000). Afterwards, as I am a gem duelist, his attack is increased by 500 points, placing him on 1500 attack. Then, I activate Swords of Revealing Light. I end my turn."

"Ok, draw. Now, I special summon Cyber Dragon, due to it's effect. Then, I tribute summon Thestalos the Fire Monarch. I choose the 3rd card in your hand."

"Ok, you made me discard Dark Magician of Chaos. This means I lose 800 Life Points." (6000-800=5200)

"Then, I end my turn." said Blossom.

"Draw!" I yelled. "Now, I set a monster card and end my turn."

"Ok, Draw."

"Now my monster has 2 Spell Counters on it, putting his attack on 2500." I exclaimed.

"Hmm...What to do...I activate Soul Absorption. Then, I tribute summon Mobius the Frost Monarch, and return your swords to your hand. Then, I activate Swords of Revealing Light, and end my turn."

"Draw. Ok, I flip my monster, Cyber Jar (DEF:1400). We both discards all the cards in our hand and draw 5 new cards. This means my Silent Magician now has 5 counters on it, so I sacrifice it to summon Silent Magician Level 8, (ATK:3500)but his attack is increased by 500 due to my gems, leaving him on 4000 attack. Then, I sacrifice Cyber Jar to summon Dark Magician Girl (ATK:2000), and she gains 500 attack due to my gems. Then, she gains another 600 attack due to her effect. When I used morphing jar, I discarded Dark Magician. This means that she is on 3100 attack. Now, I can attack with my Silent Magician due to his effect, destroying your monster. (6000+2400-4000=4400) Now, I end my turn."

"Wow Mimi, you are getting better! I never knew that you had a Silent Magician. Anyway, Draw! I set 1 card and end my turn."

"No monster cards? Well this is easy. I attack directly with Silent Magician Level 8. (4400-4000=400)

"I activate Inferno Tempest! I remove all the monsters from our graveyard and our deck from play. That is 26 cards. (26 x 500 = 13000) This means I gain 13000 Life Points." (1300+13000=14300)

"Lucky," I murmured. "Anyway, I activate D.D.R - Different Dimension Reincarnation, and discard Apprentice Magician, then add Dark Magician of Chaos to my hand. Afterwards, I activate Double Attack, and discard Dark Magician of Chaos. Now, I choose my Silent Magician Level 8 and he attacks. Then, I end my turn." (14300-4000=10300)

"Draw," Blossom said. She looked sad. "I can only set this one card. End turn."

"Draw!" I felt sorry for the girl. "Ok, I activate Mystical Space Typhoon, and destroy your Swords of Revealing Light. Then, I summon Skilled Dark Magician (ATK:1900) and increase his attack by 500 due to my gems. Now he is on 2400 attack. All my monsters, attack directly! (10300-4000-3100-2400=800) Now, I end my turn."

"Ok, I draw," whispered Blossom with her last breathe. "I...want...to...go...down...fighting. I summon Cyber Dragon, and then attack Silent Magician Level 8." (800+2100-4000=0)

"Looks like I win," I said. Blossom started dissapearing.

"What's happening to me?" screamed Blossom.

"Oh no! I forgot. If you lose the duel, you get sent to the Gem Dimension. The only way to get you out is if the 6 Gem Duelists die. I'm so sorry. I really am!" I screamed. Blossom just dissapeared, while crying at the same time.

Well, this doesn't look half bad. Actually, it's...*looks closely* Actually, it's not great, either. First off, describe a bit more. It's OK, or okay, and not ok because that just bothers me for some reason, to not describe the duel so much, but describe scenery and emotions and what-not a tad bit more.

Second, wow. Author insert AND Mary Sue in one fatal blow. She's apparently you, except with super-weird green hair, and she's got a Yugi magician deck (which I can tolerate) and the power of exxtreme luck. And now she has a gem in her forehead so she looks Hindu, I guess.

Third, I got confused at the end of the duel. At first I thought Mimi (you) LOST because you put her two quotes into separate paragraphs, which is odd.

Fourth, Scarlet lives in Japan? Scarlet? Japan? WHAT THE-SCARLET'S NOT

Fifth and last, spelling and grammar's a bit off. Use spell-check. Alwell's not even a word. Oh, well is probably what you're thinking of, though.

Hmm interesting story I like the idea of having gems in people I wonder if you'll make more people have gems in them.

 

Now you could improve on the dueling skills because you removed DD Warrior Lady from play and then brought her back with monster reborn WTF??? you may want to trade Monster Reborn with D.D.R Different Dimensional Reincarnation to make that move legal.

 

Also you could have attacked with Dark Paladin and then played de-fusion and attack with Dark Magician and Buster Blader but the way you did it was fine.

 

I hope to see more of your work and from a new member its not bad still room to improve ;D

I'm sorry but the duel doesn't make any sense and I know that the monsters gain 500 atk because of the Gem Duel and that part is nice but why did Silent Magician add that spell counter in the first turn of the duel?

Uh... Dark Paladin? You do realize that card and its constituents are horrible, right?

 

Anyway, hate to MyST this after I just ruined that other fic of yours, but I'll tell you that this one, at least, is salvageable. I like that you aren't raising the stakes all that high; a personal conflict is much more in keeping with the premise of the show than ancient evils and whatnot. Break the main character a bit, give her some flaws and make her... y'know, less Mary Sue-ish, and this'll be fine. Just don't run in the same vein as the show, which is horrendous.

 

Yeah... at the rate this is going, the plot is perfect for the show's tone so far. DO NOT introduce any ancient evils... yet. Just focus on the personalities of the Duelists and maybe shoehorn in a Duel against some Guardians of the Gem Dimension, and this could be the archetype for what Yu-Gi-Oh! ought to be.

"I'm fine," I replied. I knew Blossom was the only one who had seen what was behind me. I needed to know what it was. "Yourself?" I asked.

Negi: *Mimi* "Great subtlety was required to ask my totally-not-lover a question about the giant yellow stone in my head."

 

"I'm great," she replied.

Lucia: *Blossom* "I completely forgot about everything that happened earlier, btw. Also, did you shave your beard?"

"I don't think so. I activate Sakuretsu Armor, destroy your Buster Blader." said Denryna.

Lucia: *Denryna* "—and I'm pretty sure I don't have this many cards in my hand, and I like the word 'and.'"

Negi: *Mimi* "I don't have time to introduce anyone else, so I'll stick with my girlfriend and me."

 

Then he told everyone who was in Ra Yellow and Obelisk Blue. "Quiet now. First for Horakhty Silver...Mathew Dozen! Second...Lucas Dozen! Thirdly...Michael Loda! Fourthly...Bob Miniscule! Lastly...Mimi Imray!"

No, you couldn't; activating De-Fusion would end the Battle Phase, which can only be reached from Main Phase 1.

 

Ch2 will be a lot easier to MyST, I'm afraid. You really oughtn't have Chancellor Sheppard mention the Gem Dimension; Mimi is no longer sympathetic after she sends her ambiguously lesbian best friend to the Shadow Realm.
