Merin smiled when she heard Tiberius stopping the man sneaking up on her. He seems trustworthy after all. Either that, or he just wants to impress me, but the results are the same...

She began to fight another opponent, who suddenly stopped in the middle of the battle, only to get punched in the face.

Now for that guy who was sneaking up behind me... Merin turned around. She found herself standing behind him, off to the left a bit, while he faced Tiberius. I'll wait until they start fighting before I make my move...

Tiberius looks at the man. His Stance was a shaolin monk stance. He had read about it, but never faced it before. So Tiberius starts to circle around his opponent, looking for any weak spot in the opponents defense. The green man mirrored his movements in his fighting style. Tiberius decides to wait for him to charge him.

Kris watched from the back. He had been inching slowly backwards after he came out of the forest. In the forest a man had come up to him and had said, "Keep your guard up, be prepared, it's time for the ambush," So kris was ready and had an easy escape if they were to powerful, but he doubted it. No need for your powers yet kris. He thought, easily dodging a clumsy attack and kicking the attacker in the back of the head, knocking him out cold. "Now, just try and lay a finger on me. Just a finger, if you manage that i'll surrender." Kris explained to them, after all, they didn't know how fast his power reacted. Another, more experienced looking, ambusher attacked and was knocked out with a quick blow to the back of the neck. And another, and another, untill there was only one left out of the thirteen that had surrounded him before. "Now, do you want this to be easy or hard?" Kris said, scaring the ambusher a bit, "Okay, since you didn't answer i'll take it as hard." Kris lunged and feinted to get round the guys back, flicked his leg and tripped the guy up then stepped on the stomach of the guy to knock him unconcious. "Now, time to see if anyone reveals their power and see if I can find a weakness in it." Kris said, jumping up to a tree.

"Who says he gets to be the only one?" Merin replied to Ryu. She was intent on finishing this test as soon as possible to move on to the actual schooling part.

Two more hooded men appeared from the woods to the left of Merin. The green robed man began to move towards Tiberius. Merin glanced to the side, noting that those two were probably there to stop any interference in this 'match'.

These guys ambushed us! Too late to ask for a formal match. Merin began to approach the green robed man quickly. As expected, the two other moved to intercept. One came up behind her, so she stopped suddenly, and turned around, delivering a high kick to the side of his face.

One down. As the first one fell to the ground, Merin allowed the second to move in closer without approaching him. She then maneuvered herself so that her opponent was in between herself and the green robed man. With everything in place, she began attacking. A flurry of punches and kicks were exchanged. Merin grabbed his hand in attempt to throw him, but his glove came off instead.

A chance! Hope this works... Merin went back into the battle, deliberately fighting defensively. Her opponent began to fight more aggressively, until the point where Merin grabbed his now bare hand.

Gotcha! Merin attempted to use her Life Drain power. The robed man's eyes widened from the sudden shock his body was receiving, making it look like Merin was crushing the bones in his hand. Not much life, but this is enough! Merin punched the now dazed enemy with her other hand in his gut, following it up with an uppercut, and ending with her shoving the enemy down with both hands.

Her enemy slid across the ground and ended up next to the green robed man's feet. Merin stared at the green robed man intently. If you want to continue, I'm going in there to fight, too.

All Joseph did was watch, dispatching any of the assailants within a 5 foot radius of him with ease, but his interest was the green robed man, though once he saw the bow between them, he knew he should not interfere, but apperantly Meirin didn't catch that, so he jumped over her."Well well, I didn't know we would have an Ataska in our midst this year." he could tell her last name even without her announcing it, after all, he did beat the younger Ataska into unconsciousness."I know you're all giddy about being here, but getting in between two fighters who have bowed to each other is rather rude, your brother sure knew that." he really didn't mean to sound it,but he sounded like a jerk.

Kris scanned the ground, looking for some really either intense fighting or people getting destroyed. He noticed one of the girls, merin he remembered, fighting exceptionally well and some how suck the life, no soul, out of her opponent. He'd never seen a power like that but it seemed she could only use it when touching her opponent. To bad she'd never be able to lay a finger on me, She could have posed a threat. He thought.

Merin turned around to see Joseph, of all people, chiding her. How dare he mention Karl like that! About a year ago, Joseph went out of his way to deliver a crushing and humiliating defeat to her younger brother, Karl. Her brother had been defeated before, of course, and most of the people in the arena then knew Joseph was the stronger of the two, but the way he defeated her brother was sick, twisted, and wholly unnecessary. Who is he to tell me about etiquette when he has none himself!

"I'm not sure if you've noticed, but we were in the middle of an ambush." Merin said to Joseph, trying her hardest to remain calm. "No way I'm going to let him fight one-on-one while his cronies ganged up on us."

OoC: Whoa, I lost quite a lot of the action here.

Shadow inclined himself forward, punching his opponent in the gut, who backed away in pain before falling unconscious on the ground. Immediately, he blocked an incoming kick from behind, quickly spinning around with his arm lifted to sustain the whole hit, while countering with a swift yet powerful swiping kick which made the attacker fall on the ground helplessly.

"Could have been better if I bought my blade." Shadow said, backing away to dodge a brutal ram which would have made his right arm bone break in pieces if not evaded.

Ryu sighed at the girl's ignorance. "Listen," he started. "I can tell you don't like this guy, but he's right; It's his fight," He pointed to Tiberius. "If you get challenged to a one-on-one fight, everyone else has to respect that." He folded his arms across his chest. "The most respectful thing to do is to just let them fight, then cut in when it gets too rough."

Kris saw the three watching the fight between the man in green and tiburius arguing. He wondered what it was about but he didn't have time to find out, someone had seen him and was now attacking. Kris jumped down and kicked they guy in the back then in the gut and then in the ribs, hearing a few crack. "That'll teach you not to sneak up on me." He said to the unconcious man.

((Writing for Merin is very entertaining))

"Well you don't know..." Merin paused after this and took a deep breath, as she found herself getting more agitated. Ah yes, that stupid challenge rule. The one that makes you unable to protect your friends.

This was reason Merin didn't want to register into the Elemental Ring. When she was younger, she was registered in a dojo, as all Ataskas were. She made a few friends there, and was generally enjoying training there. While the students were unsupervised, someone challenged her friends, and proceeded to beat him relentlessly, even after the match would normally be declared over. After Merin's cries to stop the match were ignored, she stepped into the match herself and knocked the bully to the ground. Satisfied that she had done a good deed, she went to help her friend up when he yelled at her for helping out, saying that it was 'his fight.' And the teacher, when he found out, chastised both the bully and Merin for their actions that day. Needless to say she left the dojo soon after that.

Her breathing got heavier as she recalled that memory. "And *When* is it too rough? Hmm?" Merin exploded at Ryu, letting all her frustrations out on him. "When he's so tired he can't move? Or maybe after he's *dead*?!" Merin turned to the fight, continuing to yell. "Tiberius! You better beat the crap out of that coward! I won't forgive you if we have to help!" She then pointed at the man in the green robe. "And you! You have some explaining to do after this fight! I'm not letting a coward like you get away with cheating like this!"

With everything said, she stepped back, and put her hands back into her jacket pockets. She still thought this whole situation was absurd, but she'll let things play out for now.

He ignored her and went back to attacking the assailants, to be honest, he was just avoiding an unfair battle that may break a fighter's spirit. While ironic and hypocritical, if anyone's spirit was to be broken, it would be by his hand, besides, he wanted to see what the boy was made of, there was something odd with the hooded figure, but since he wasn't a student, he didn't care.

Jarred sighed glanced at everyone. The girl had just finished ranting about something that Jarred didn't care about at all.

"Angry?" he muttered

He then glanced towards the fight

He's not gonna lose...he's stronger than he looks, so why is she so worked up?

For right now, Jarred thought he was the only one smart enough not to waste his energy flaunting their skill....

Finished with his pathetically weak opponents, Shadow noticed the group watch a battle resolve between Tiberius and the mysterious green-hooded man. Staying at an adequate distance from the ongoing duel and everyone else, he crossed his arms and watched the calm scenery a bit, the soothing winds making the leaves flicker were contrasting the violent struggle that was occurring in the same place. After that, his cold red eyes focused on the battle.

Merin sighed. "Of course I am. Who does he think he is, having his grunts attack us in groups and then not wanting himself to be attacked like that. He's a coward and a cheater!"

Merin had a feeling that everyone here besides herself shared the same opinion on this issue, and that her pragmatism was going to cause much conflict. She sighed once again. "I'm feeling better now, thanks." she replied, still somber from that realization.

Tiberius thanks Shadow for asking not to interfere with the fight. "Hey Green dude call off your goons," Tiberius says with a creepy grin on his face. "It's just you and me tough guy." The green guy flicked his hand in the air and the cloaked men stopped what they we doing. "Thanks," Tiberius says. "Let's go!"

The green hooded man made the first move. He ran towards Tiberius thinking he would catch him of guard. The green hooded man was surprised when Tiberius blocks the punch, twists his arm, and shoves him away. "Nice try," Tiberius says. "But your going to have to do better than that."
