She still has a while jorney ahead of her.

Also, to those of you who read/watch KHR, I mean Hayate, not Hayato.

Just like I have a journey to go through, and ch 40's main characters are DMG and Creator in a sci-fi tragedy

Chapter 39 - Mafia Families Aren’t Really Related, but They Can Put up One Heck of a Fight

Kailyn was walking along a sidewalk in a modern city, when two bulky guys, one short and one tall, approached her.

The tall one chuckled. “Hey lady, how’s about me and you go to someplace to have some fun, eh?”

Kailyn continued walking, but the short one blocked her path. “Hey, what’s the matter? It’s just a little fun, right?”

Kailyn was about to reply when the tall man fell forward and the short one followed. Kailyn looked behind them and saw a baby wearing a hat and a pacifier tied around his neck.

She looked around, thinking the child must be lost. “Uh, are you lost little guy? Where are your parents?”

The baby stood there, unmoving. Kailyn noticed for the first time that the baby seemed to be holding a gun. “Hey, neat toy. Tell you what, why don’t I help you find your parents?”

The baby shook his head. “You have to come with me, there’s something I must show you, Kailyn Kyosuke.”

Kailyn grinned uncomfortably. “Well, what an informed baby you are… how did you know my name?”

The baby proceeded to grab Kailyn’s hand and drag her along the pavement. After a few seconds of Kailyn being pulled and in amazement, they reached a small building. The baby kicked the door open, and Kailyn turned around to see it was a well-lit room with a variety of people inside. There was a guy with shoulder-length white hair who had a scowl on his face, a guy with a sword tied around his waist and had short spiky black hair and a grin. There was a girl with long black hair who seemed somewhat shy, and a guy with frizzy silver hair who seemed the opposite of shy. There was a kid with a cow costume, hiding behind a guy with black hair that fell over his eyes who didn’t seem too happy. These people would be enough to catch anyone’s eye, but the guy sitting on the chair in the center of the room, who had spiky brown hair and a rather calm expression on his face, had such an aura that it would catch anyone’s attention.

Kailyn took a minute or two to take in her sights, and then stood up. “Who… are you people?”

The guy with the sword stepped forward. “I’m Kaito, nice to meet you. This guy next to me with the scowl is Hayate Gokudera. That black-haired girl over there is Rin Mukuro.”

The guy with the silver hair pumped his fist up. “Yeah, and I’m Kai… to the EXTREME!”

Kaito chuckled and continued. “Yeah, that guy over there with the hair covering his eyes is Suzuko Hibari, and the kid hiding behind him is Lambo.”

The guy sitting on the chair straightened up. “Finally, my name is Natsu Sawada. We are the guardians of the Vongola Family, and we need to ask you a favor, Kailyn Kyosuke.”

Kailyn looked around, and then pointed at herself. “You mean me?”

The baby answered. “Of course, I don’t see anyone else called Kailyn Kyosuke in this room. By the way, I’m Reborn.”

Natsu nodded and continued. “Here’s my proposal. We were wondering… how would you like to join the Vongola? In exchange for helping us, you’d become much stronger than you are now.”

Chapter 40 - the Only Things Capable of Surviving Nuclear Wars are Madness and Cockroaches

This is a truly depressing chapter, with terrible things in the beginning, several unpleasant things in the end, and numerous catastrophes in the middle. Thus, it is best if you do not read this chapter, and read something much more pleasant, like ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Alice in Wonderland is a tale whose good things overweight the bad. Also, unlike Alice in Wonderland, this chapter does not take place in a marvelous wonderland filled with sadistic cats, mad queens, and devious potions. Instead, this chapter takes place in a time on Earth where humans and aliens have waged a war on each other. Human and alien hybrids have come into existence due to the aliens’ apparent taste for young girls. Blood fills these streets, and sorrow fills the air, and tears fill my own keyboard as I type this dreadful tale. Now, if you have exited the page by now, and I cannot blame you if you did, then you will surely not find out that there are two protagonists in this story, a word which here means ‘people who encounter a lot of dread’, and I am filled with regret that I am forced to follow these two young people through their troubles.

Creator slammed the door shut. He locked the door and placed a wooden board on it. He walked over to a table where a Dark Magician Girl sat, and sat down opposite of her.

Dark Magician Girl glanced at the door. “Were those the aliens again?”

Creator slammed his fist on the table. “Yeah, and this time, they’ve brought more than one or two. There’s at least a dozen out there, along with a few hybrids… this is bad…”

Dark Magician Girl stood up. “What’s the matter? Well just ward them off like last time.”

Creator shook his head as a pound on the door echoed. “That won’t work. Remember, our anti-alien weapons don’t work on hybrids. Plus, there’s too many of them.”

Dark magician Girl glanced solemnly at the shaking door. “I may be able to take them on… but I have to tell you something before we go.”

Before Creator could reply, the door gave one last creak, and was busted open by an alien. The alien growled, showing its teeth, and charged at them. Creator took out his pistol and shot, creating a hole in the alien. The alien shook his head, snarled, and began running again. Creator was about to pull the trigger again, when the alien charged through the table, making Dark Magician Girl and Creator jump back. Dark Magician Girl shot a ball of fire at the alien, and it exploded.

Dark Magician Girl chuckled. “That’s one down…”

The alien reared its head and swung at Dark Magician Girl, who fell back to avoid getting decapitated. Creator shot the alien twice and it screeched in anger, but dropped down to the floor. Dark Magician Girl and Creator ran outside to find that they were surrounded by aliens and some aliens that looked like humans.

Creator pulled out a small cube and tossed it to the ground. The cube began to grow until it resembled a turret. The turret began firing at the aliens rapidly, while Dark Magician Girl was fighting with two other aliens. They swiped at her, but she gracefully dodged them and kicked them both in the head, breaking one’s neck and tossing the other one to the ground. Another alien got behind her and made a gash on her back, which made her drop to her knees groaning in pain. Creator took out another gun and shot the alien in the head. More aliens closed in on him and the hybrids managed to take down the turret.

Creator clenched his teeth. “This is bad…”

A hybrid dove for him, but he managed to dodge it and shoot it in the head with his gun. Creator pulled out two more cubes, and they turned into turrets and began firing at the aliens. Creator ran over to Dark Magician Girl and saw that her back was deeply wounded.

Creator pulled out a small vial with a blue liquid inside and crouched down, holding out the vial. “Here, drink this.”

Dark Magician Girl looked up at the bottle, a pained expression on her face. She took it and in one gulp, the liquid was gone. Dark Magician Girl winced as the wound in her back began to close.

Creator looked at her. “The turrets aren’t going to last forever. What were you trying to say to me back there?”

Dark Magician Girl took a few seconds to recuperate, and then looked at Creator. “All these years fighting the aliens have shown me something. We both make a very good team, don’t we? We’ll, lately I’ve been feeling that…”

Creator shook his head and kissed her on the lips. “Don’t worry, we’ll make it out of this alive… then you and I can live a normal life, away from all this fighting… together.”

As Creator said those words, a nuclear bomb launched automatically by the alien mother ship in space went hurtling toward Earth.

Dark Magician Girl smiled softly and kissed Creator. “You know, I’ve liked you for a while now, I think, but only now did I realize my feelings. Thank you…”

The nuclear bomb hit Earth. The blast surrounded the entire planet in the span of less than a minute, wiping out anything and everything on Earth. Creator and Dark Magician Girl never got to say goodbye. The Earth, now truly just Earth, was uninhabited. Or so was thought, for out of nowhere came a figure made entirely of swirling dark energy. The figure was better known as Deustodo.

Deustodo chuckled as he looked around. “War… it never changes…”

Chapter 41 - Though Time Passes the One Will Never Change

Now, you may recall that I wrote that something catastrophic and depressing happened the day after the clash between vampires. Chase, Dark Magician Girl, and Dokuro were still knocked out. Dark Link, El Make, Kailyn, Hollowblade, and Caine went away to train. Bagon, Yugioh Rulez, Nexev, and Wolfy were not as active during this time, thus it is unimportant to notify you that Bagon was secretly practicing transformations in his room, like there is no need to tell me that Yugioh Rulez actually left the mansion unnoticed. I cannot find any particular reason to inform you that Nexev was researching some very bad news in his room, which he had turned into a small laboratory. I also cannot bear to tell you what Wolfy was doing inside her room all those boring days, for it is enough to make me want to throw my typewriter through the windshield of the car that I hitched a ride on so as to sneak past the airport security of Guatemala. As for Creator, he had finished his mad journey, and came in with a light landing next to the mansion.

The Hyperion spiraled down toward the mansion and crashed down on it, setting it ablaze. Creator jumped out just before impact and landed away from the crash site. The fire spread quickly as Deustodo and Bagon exited, and as Wolfy ran out, carrying Dokuro. Dark Magician Girl and Chase were, of course, still inside the mansion, and Nexev was still inside, in his laboratory, attempting to save his research from the fire. Gefhx blasted out of the mansion inside a sphere of Holon energy. Chase was inside the sphere with him.

Creator clenched his teeth and ran toward the mansion. He ran up the crumbling stairs, past the falling piece of burning rubble. He reached Dark Magician Girl’s room and touched her hand from her bed where she lay sleeping since the fight with Chase. Creator sighed and pushed a pushed a button on the wrist of the hand that was in contact with Dark Magician Girl’s own, and the two of them teleported outside the mansion. Creator let go of Dark Magician Girl’s hand with some hesitation and turned away from the sleeping vampire to face Deustodo.

Deustodo chuckled. “That’s a real shame… I liked that mansion.”

Creator shifted his gaze to the mansion. “Hey, are there any more people inside?”

Deustodo shrugged. “I wouldn’t know.”

Out of the blazing fire, came Nexev, running with a bunch or rolled-up papers in his arms. He reached them and dropped to his knees, panting.

Creator picked up one of the parchments Nexev had dropped and looked at it. “What are these?”

Nexev took a few seconds to catch his breath before standing up. “This is all the research I’ve done so far on the government and the rebellion. If it’s accurate, and I’m almost positive it is… then it means that they’re…”

Nexev gulped and was about to continue when an explosion shattered the ground near them. Out of the smoke came foes the Fake Knights thought they wouldn’t see for a very long time. Standing there, five in all, were the members of the Fake Type Rebellion.

Major Tim walked out of the smoke, chuckling. “Hello, Fake Knights. We’re here for a little something called… revenge…”

Chapter 42 - You Will Remember Me

Dark Link sat down. “So, you’re known as Stray Dove, and you fight the Darkness Knights in hopes of freeing this land?”

Stray Dove nodded. “Yes, and I thought you were Darkness Knights, which is why I attacked you, I’m sorry. It’s just, I didn’t think I’d find any allies right now, since… well, since the Chibi Knights were all defeated.”

Dark Link frowned. “Who are the Chibi Knights? Were they the ones who rebelled against the Darkness Knights?”

Stray Dove nodded again. “Yeah, but… I’m the last surviving member…”

Dark Link sighed. “Alright then, if you say that defeating the Darkness Knights will give us the information we need, then well help you take down the Darkness Knights.”

Stray Dove chuckled glumly. “That’s impossible. They outnumber us too much. True, there’s supposed to be some sort of mage who can tell fortunes in a high position in their army, but… getting to that mage will probably be impossible…”

Dark Link and El Make were already out the door by the time Stray Dove was halfway through his sentence. Stray Dove sighed and ran after them.

El Make squinted to see a castle in the distance. “You mean that castle over there?”

Stray Dove nodded. “Yeah, we need to get there, and it’ll probably take us a few days, so we should gather some supplies before we head out…”

Stray Dove’s eyes widened as he saw the Darkness Knight castle in front of him.

El Make shrugged. “Hey, as long as I can see it, I can get us there, but I can only do it once a day, so we have to make this count. Now let’s go see that mage guy before something or other happens.”

El Make was about to push open the door when a swarm of Darkness Knights ran out of the castle. El Make had to jump to avoid being trampled, while Stray Dove and Dark Link dashed out of the way. The Darkness Knights halted and turned around.

One Darkness Knight pointed at Stray Dove. “Hey, I remember that guy. He was part of the Chibi Knights! Get him!”

The Darkness Knights all charged toward the three of them. Dark Link began to dodge attacks by using his sharingan while countering rapidly with his sword. El Make was throwing punches at the incoming Darkness Knights, his punches leaving shadowy trails. Stray Dove was slashing at the enemy with his feather while blocking attacks with another feather. After a minute or so of fighting, the Darkness Knights lay there, either dead or unconscious, and the three of them proceeded further inside the castle.

Dark Link performed a few hand signs and in a few seconds, he, El Make, and Stray Dove were all seemingly transparent. They sneaked by several guards, having to stop several times to avoid being caught. They finally made it to an incredibly large room. Sitting in a throne was someone who looked like a teenager, even though it was extremely hard to tell due to the fact he had a miniature body like everyone else in the land. His hair was spiky and yellow, and he had a large blade strapped to his blade. Sitting next to him, on another throne, was a girl with short purple hair. She had sleeves that passed her hands by a long shot, and a hat made to look like a weird creature with a big mouth that seemed as though it were biting her head.

The teenager laughed. “So you’ve finally found your way here again… my brother…”

Stray Dove clenched his teeth. “Hell Raiser…”

Dark Link looked at Stray Dove. “You know him? He called you brother…”

Stray Dove nodded. “By blood, he is my brother, but… I cannot bear to call him that. All that he has done… cannot be forgiven. You die now, Hell Raiser!”

Stray Dove charged at Hell Raiser, feather in hand. Hell Raiser chuckled as he pulled out his sword, jumped out of his throne seat and slashed at Stray Dove, who blocked his swing with the feather. The swing pushed Stray Dove back, and Hell Raiser spun around and swung at his other side. Stray Dove jumped back, but Hell Raiser brought his blade down, then swung his foot forward and kicked Stray Dove through the wall, then followed him through it, chuckling.

The girl stepped down from the throne. “Sasuke… it’s been so long since we last met. I can’t believe you’re even alive…”

Dark Link frowned. “Who’s this Sasuke? My name is Dark Link, and you’re the enemy.”

A pained expression appeared in the girl’s face. “I see… back then, he didn’t kill you… his attack just wiped your memory. So that’s what he meant when he said it wasn’t over…”

Dark Link scratched his head. “Look, I can see you’re clearly mistaking me for someone else, now can you tell me where the mage who can tell fortunes is before I get violent?”

The girl chuckled. “I am that mage, Sasuke. Two years ago, I would have told any fortune you wanted me to, but… the person you are today… I wonder, just how much have you changed?”

The girl looked up and launched a fire ball at Dark Link, who sidestepped. He ran to the girl, who tossed another fire ball at him. He took out his sword and deflected the fireball to the ground. She was about to toss another fire ball when he reached her and held his sword to her neck.

Dark Link looked at the girl with an intense gaze. “I need you to tell me something. Tell me where my sprites of destiny have gone.”

The girl gulped. “You really don’t remember me, do you, Sasuke?”

Dark Link shook his head. “No, I don’t, I told you I have no idea who you are.”

The girl was shaking. “Sasuke… you idiot…”

Darkness spilled out from the girl and blasted Dark Link back. He regained his balance and looked at the girl, who was now surrounded by darkness.

The girl shot a ball of darkness at Dark Link, who barely managed to dodge it. “You have to remember me… all we’ve been through… can’t just have vanished. Remember me Sasuke…”

The girl shot a blast of darkness at Dark Link, and it hit him in the stomach, sending him into a nearby wall.

The girl appeared in front of Sasuke. “Sasuke… remember who you were. Remember what you did. Remember me…”

Dark Link performed a few hand sings, and shot a giant ball of fire at the girl. The fire was dissolved by the darkness.

The girl grabbed Sasuke by the neck, her eyes filed with hatred. “How could you forget me? I won’t believe it… I can’t. Sasuke…”

Dark Link took out his sword and slashed at the girl, but the darkness blocked the sword’s path and curled around it, holding it in place.

The girl threw Dark Link to the ground. “If you won’t remember me… then I’ll have to force you to remember me. Remember the name Rina, the greatest mage in the Darkness Knights!”

[spoiler=Chapter 43]

Chapter 43 - the Past That was Thought to be Gone Forever

Stray Dove stood up and charged at Hell Raiser, who was blocking his every swing with ease.

Stray Dove pulled out two more feathers and tossed them to the air as he jumped back. “Try this, my Double Feather Attack!”

The two feathers spiraled downward toward Hell Raiser, who blocked them both.

Hell Raiser chuckled. “You’re still playing with feathers, little brother? Here I thought I was going to get a fight, but all I get are feathers thrown at me by a weakling. You’re pathetic.”

Stray Dove glared at Hell Raiser as he pulled out four feathers. He tossed them at Hell Raiser, who swung his sword to block them, but then two of the feathers changed course, distracting him, and the feathers that he was about to block hit him in the chest. The feathers that had changed directions swerved yet again, and it Hell Raiser.

Stray Dove grinned. “I’ve gotten stronger, and now, I’m going to beat you.”

Rina leaned forward and looked right into Dark Link’s eyes. He tried to get out of the grip of the shadows that were binding him, but Rina’s magic was powerful, and all he could manage was to wiggle around.

Dark Link glanced at El Make, who had been captured by Rina and was now trapped by dark energy in the form of a cage. Dark Link looked back at Rina, who seemed to think he was someone named Sasuke.

Rina’s eyes suddenly widened. “I got it…”

Rina leaned forward and pressed her lips against Dark Link’s. Dark Link blinked while she drew her head back. He was about to say something when an image shot through his head. He and someone else, someone he recognized as Hell Raiser, set fire to a town. They both laughed. Dark Link shook his head to clear the image, but instead more scenes shot into his head. He and Rina fought side by side against some people. He, Rina, and Hell Raiser laughed and ate. Rina shouted at him. His face hidden by the shadows, he talked as tears streamed down Rina’s face. Another girl, someone who looked a lot like Rina, but had long hair, kissed him on the cheek. He and Hell Raiser faced each other in a burning meadow, both panting and wounded. Hell Raiser shouted at him. The last memory was of a blast of energy coming at him, and everything went blank.

Dark Link screamed as he clutched his head. The shadows around him had been released, and he was on the floor, on his knees and elbows, gripping his head, and in pain.

El Make’s eyes widened. “What’s happening?”

Rina looked at Dark Link. “Sasuke, do you remember now? Do you remember everything that happened while you were in the Darkness Mercenaries?”

Those two words Rina spoke brought more memories to Dark Link’s head. He stole from a house. He, along with the girl who looked like Rina and Rina herself, attacked Chibi Knights. Marks spread throughout his body. He walked away from Rina, who was kneeling on the floor. He clashed blades with Hell Raiser.

Dark Link screamed again.

Rina bent over and put her hand on his shoulder. “Sasuke… you’ll be okay now…”

Dark Link fell to the ground, writhing and clutching his head. A few minutes passed, with Dark Link shaking on the floor, Rina looking sympathetically at him, and El Make trying to break free of the shadow cage, but failing. After a while, Dark Link finally relaxed. He slowly sat up.

Rina kneeled down next to him. “Sasuke, do you remember now?”

Dark Link stared at Rina, as if trying to comprehend what she just said. “Rina… I… you and I were part of a mercenary group. We were the Darkness Mercenaries. Hell Raiser was there… and this girl who looked like you was there, too…”

Rina nodded. “That was my sister.”

Dark Link stared at her again. “That was your sister? She kissed me on the cheek… why?”

Rina looked away. “That was… probably nothing.”

Dark Link sat there for a few more minutes, but suddenly, his eyes widened. “I remember it clearly now… your sister’s name was Karin.”

A single tear fell down Dark Link’s cheek. “She was… the one I loved…”

Rina turned away from Dark Link. When she spoke, her voice was unsteady. “That was ages ago… you separated yourself from the mercenaries.”

Dark Link wiped his eye softly. “I remember that. I finally saw that what I was doing was wrong. You argued with me to stay… but I knew I had to go. Hell Raiser tried to stop me, but, in the end, all he could manage was erasing my memories. That’s the last I remember…”

Rina nodded. “So, now that you remembered everything, will you stay?”

Dark Link shook his head. “That’s impossible. I came here to try and find my sprites. Besides, there’s a reason I left two years ago.”

Rina turned around and Dark Link saw her eyes were tearing up. “You… how can you say that? I gave you your memories back, and you just act as if nothing happened!”

Dark Link looked down. “Rina… I’m sorry, but even if I wished to return, I’ve made a promise to go back to the Fake Knights after I found my sprites...”

Rina looked Dark Link square in the eyes. “How about we make a deal, then? I can tell you were your sprite are, but you have to promise me, once you find them… and once you’re done with the fake knights… you’ll come back here…”

Dark Link pondered it for a moment. “I’ll agree… if you also agree to free this land from the rule of darkness. If I come back here to find it is still being governed by darkness, I’ll know you didn’t keep your part of the deal.”

Rina nodded after a few seconds. “Alright, I promise… and I promise I’ll wait for you until you come back to me.”

Dark Link nodded as Rina let the shadows around El Make disappear.

El Make looked at the hole in the wall. “Hey, Dark Link… what are we gonna do about Stray Dove?”

Dark Link glanced at Rina again. “Rina, tell Hell Raiser to let Stray Dove go. Also, tell him one day… I’ll be back for our rematch…”

Chapter 44 - Madness Bested

The mansion, now a large pile of rubble, lay behind the Fake Knights. The rebellion, made up of Major Tim, Milk, Pikachu, X-31 Fighter, and Kotaro stood in front of them.

Milk smirked. “I told you they’d be here. Now we can finally finish what the government started.”

Creator pulled out his halberd. “What do you people want?”

Milk looked toward the sleeping Dark Magician Girl and then shifted his gaze to Chase, who was also sleeping. “It seems your two greatest warriors are out cold. This’ll make our victory much easier. I’ll take on that madness guy. Pikachu, you take on Creator. The rest of them should be easy to beat.”

Nexev sighed. “My research was right. They were planning to come here and finish us.”

Creator paused for a moment, and then raised his head. “Alright, I’ll take on Pikachu, Deus, you take Milk. Nexev, can you fight?”

Nexev nodded. “Yeah, I can.”

Creator looked at Gefhx. “You can fight too right? Can you help us?”

Gefhx grinned. “Well, can a sub-atomic particle travel at the speed of light under certain conditions?”

Creator stood there for a moment, before Gefhx chuckled. “The answer is yes, I’ll help you guys fight.”

Creator nodded. “Alright, you can take on the guy with silver hair, and Nexev, you take on the guy in the robot suit.”

Major Tim growled. “Aren’t you forgetting about me?”

Bagon chuckled as he took out his harpoon gun. “Aren’t you forgetting who beat you last time?”

Milk smirked. “Alright, if the matches have been decided…”

Milk took out a small device and threw it at the ground. A light flashed, and everyone was gone except Milk and Deustodo.

Deustodo looked around. “Where’d everybody go?”

Milk chuckled. “Well, I had to make room for our battle, don’t you agree? They’re in some other place is the world right now, having their own battles.”

Deustodo formed a ball of madness. “I see. Well then, I guess you’re prepared to go mad?”

Milk took out a small gun and aimed it at Deustodo. “Well see about that…”

The gun fired, and Deustodo stood there grinning as the bullet fazed through him, but the bullet never shot out the other side, as it exploded while inside of Deustodo, leaving a splattered black puddle on the floor. The puddle reformed into Deustodo.

Deustodo chuckled. “See, you can’t kill me… although I am surprised you figured out how to hurt me. Of course, there’s plenty more stages of madness, all with a different chemical structure, so I hardly think you’ll be able to win.”

Milk sighed and took out another gun after he put the one he had shot back in his pocket. The gun had a wide barrel, and seemed outdated. There was a gem poking out of the side of the gun, and on closer inspection, an insect could be seen inside the gem.

Milk pointed the gun at Deustodo. “This is a shindanjuu. The bullets this gun fires... are fragments of my own heart...”

Milk pulled the trigger, and a bright ray shot out from the gun, turning sharp angles back and forth. “Cry out, heart!”

The bullet hit Deustodo and exploded in mass of light, filling the air with bright flakes.

Deustodo chuckled. “Well, this sucks…”

Milk grinned as Deustodo exploded. “I was right. One of the weaknesses of madness is the heart. I just had to make your heart cry out, and it overloaded your emotions.”

Deustodo reformed. “Fine, if that’s the way you want to play…”

Deustodo tossed a ball of madness at Milk, who jumped to the right and shot another bullet. The bullet hit Deustodo again, and exploded. A few seconds passed and Deustodo’s body came together again.

Deustodo raised his hand to eye level and closed his fist. Several dark blobs came to life in a shape similar to Gir’s, and charged at Milk. Milk raised his fingers to his mouth and whistled. Out of the sky came a giant eagle and landed right in front of Milk, who jumped on top of it. The eagle took flight and Milk shot at Deus from above. A third explosion of light, and again, Deustodo regenerated.

Deustodo took out a shotgun and aimed it at Milk. “Those heart things are becoming a pain, so I’m just going to finish it.”

Deustodo fired, and Milk pulled the eagle sideways, but its wing was hit. It screeched and descended. Once it was close to the ground, Milk jumped off, and the eagle slid to a stop.

Deustodo held the shotgun at Milk. “Screw your magic gun, I have a shotgun.”

Milk and Deustodo fired at the same time. The shotgun bullet hit Milk in the arm, while the heart bullet hit Deustodo square in the area that would have been the stomach for humans.

Deustodo flinched as an explosion of light filled the air more intensely than before. Milk fell to one knee, clutching his arm. He looked at the direction where Deustodo was. Black puddles were splattered everywhere. A minute passed, and the puddles finally began to reunite. When they finally finished, Deustodo stood there, but what was once black was now shining white. He raised one hand and a blast of energy hurtled toward Milk. Milk managed to sidestep, and reloaded hit gun with one hand, then shot another heart bullet. It hit Deustodo, but instead of exploding, it was absorbed by him instead. The heart bullet went hurtling back toward Milk, who only managed to fall over as the shot whizzed over his head.

Milk slowly stood up. “This is… what is this? I can sense his power right now is… incredible…”

Milk pulled up his sleeve to reveal a strap. “Maybe I have to undo this right now. Well, there’s no one here, so it shouldn’t be a problem…”

Milk pulled off the strap, and at that moment, an earthquake and an explosion occurred.

Chapter 45 - Playing with Fire

Kailyn looked around at the circle of people looking at her and nodded. “Alright, I’ll help, but what do I have to do?”

Natsu motioned toward Hayate. “He’ll be your instructor on using flames. We’ve chosen you, because we believe you are the only one who can do this.”

Kai pumped up his fist. “I can teach her too… to the EXTREME!”

Rin looked away. “I can teach better than Gokudera OR Kai. Mist flames are better than storm or sun, anyway.”

Hayate frowned. “Hey, watch it. The eleventh chose me, and as his right-hand man, I’ll do it!”

Kaito chuckled. “Well, what better way to see who’s a more suitable teacher than testing out what kind of flame she has?”

Natsu nodded and handed Kailyn a box, and a ring. “Put on that ring, then close your fist and press the ring toward the box.”

Kailyn slid on the ring and pushed her closed fist against the box. Nothing happened.

Natsu grabbed another ring and box and handed them to Kailyn, who took out her ring and placed both it and the box onto a nearby table, and then put on the new ring. When she pushed her ring against the box, a transparent glow with a deep red center began surrounding the ring. The box flashed, and in place of where it was a bird with red and orange feathers was perched on Kailyn’s outstretched arm.

Natsu nodded. “It seems you have the storm flame. Just in case, let’s try to see if you can control any other flames.”

For a few minutes, Kailyn proceeded to try four more boxes and rings, none of which reacted at all. Finally, she was handed one final box and ring. She switched her previous ring with the new on and pressed it to the box Natsu had given her. The box flashed. Kailyn looked to see that she was holding a hilt of a sword.

Kailyn looked at the bladeless hilt. “So, what I supposed to do with this?”

Natsu looked at the hilt. “Is that… no, forget it. More importantly, your flame attributes are Storm and Rain, which means I’ll have Hayate and Kaito train you. Once your training is complete, we’ll tell you what we want.”

Kailyn frowned. “What if you tell me, and I refuse to go through with it?”

Natsu chuckled grimly. “If you refuse… we all die.”

Chapter 46 - the Devil is like an Infection

Creator looked around and saw he and Pikachu were on a sandy plane. There were very few trees and the ones that were there were dying. There was no sign of water around. It was almost a desert.

Pikachu glanced around. “If Milk sent everyone away, he must be planning on breaking the seal… but I really hope he’s thought this through…”

Creator thrust his halberd on the ground. “So, are we gonna start?”

Pikachu nodded. “Any time…”

Creator pushed his halberd further into the ground, making the ground crack and creating several fissures aimed toward Pikachu. The fissures spread out and Pikachu jumped out of the way, but fire blasted out of the fissures and burned Pikachu’s cloak. Pikachu rolled away from the fire and jumped up, pointing a finger at Creator. Lightning shot out of his finger and headed toward Creator. Creator chuckled, and took his halberd out of the ground, disrupting the lightning’s path and sending it toward a nearby tree. Pikachu chuckled and snapped his fingers, creating a spark. The spark grew into a black, but transparent, ball surrounded by sparks. The ball shot toward Creator, who swung his halberd at it, attempting to disrupt its path, but the ball passed through the halberd and hit Creator in the stomach, sending him flying.

Pikachu grinned. “I know all about your ability to control elements, Creator. Milk’s information is quite accurate. I knew mere electricity couldn’t beat you, so I developed something else. That’s a little something I like to call dark lightning, and it’s immune to your control of elements, according to Milk’s research.”

Creator stood up. “Oh, is that so?”

Creator tossed his halberd, and it went spinning toward Pikachu. Pikachu chuckled and snapped his fingers, creating more sparks. A dark bold of lightning descended from the sky and hit the halberd, knocking it aside. One more snap caused a dark bolt of lightning to shoot toward Creator, hitting him again. He fell back against a dying tree, and slumped against it.

Pikachu sighed. “You can’t win, so give up, and you’ll still have some pride.”

Creator slowly stood up. “I’m not even close to finished. Tell me Pikachu, do you believe in the devil?”

Before Pikachu could ask what he meant, a dark glow began emanating from Creator, and devil wings spread from his back.

Gefhx and X-31 Fighter were standing on a hill overlooking a town. Past the town was a castle, but Gefhx ignored that and focused his attention on his opponent.

X-31 Fighter drew his sword. “I’d like to get this finished as quickly as possible.”

Gefhx nodded. “Sure, fast is fine, but I hope you don’t mean to say you’re going to win?”

X-31 Fighter charged at Gefhx, sword held high. He swung and Gefhx created a barrier of Holon energy to block the strike, making X-31 Fighter’s sword rebound. He spun around, using the rebound as an added boost, and slashed at Gefhx from his other side. Gefhx jumped back a split second before his opponent’s sword slashed through where he had been standing at. Gefhx shot a ball of Holon energy at X-31 Fighter, who deflected it with a swing of his sword.

Gefhx raised his arms. “I guess I have to go a bit serious, huh?”

Holon energy began swirling around both Gefhx and X-31 Fighter. A tornado was formed, and they were in the middle of it. Gefhx opened his palm and a green sphere began to form. With his other hand, Gefhx made Holon orbs fly out of the tornado and shoot out at X-31 Fighter. X-31 Fighter’s sword deflected the orbs, as if it were on an automatic deflect mode. The ball on Gefhx’s hand had grown considerably in size, now bigger than Gefhx himself. He brought his arm down, and the ball shot toward X-31 Fighter.

X-31 Fighter closed his eyes and held his sword in front of him. “First form...”

X-31 Fighter disappeared and appeared behind the green ball. The ball split in half and dissolved.

Gefhx clenched his teeth. “How did he…?”

Chapter 47 - Pride of the Vongola… or, Something Like That

Kailyn pressed the small microphone closer to her mouth. “All set here…”

Hiding behind a tree, Kaito nodded to Kailyn, who was also behind a tree. Lambo jumped out to grab a small figure on the ground. It turned out the person he jumped to grab was Reborn, who kicked him in the face before Lambo touched him.

Lambo rubbed his face as tears began forming down his face. “I thought you said… we had to catch you…”

Reborn shook his head. “I said you had to catch me without being noticed. You failed.”

Hayate slapped his forehead with his palm. “That stupid cow… it was going so well, too…”

Reborn walked over to Hayate and kicked him in the face. “Idiot, you can’t give away your position to the enemy.”

Hayate rubbed his aching face. “I hate kids…”

Kaito jumped out from behind the tree and slashed at Reborn.

Reborn jumped up and kicked the sword out of his hands. “Still too slow, but at least you didn’t give your position until you attacked.”

Kailyn, who had snuck behind Reborn, slashed at him. Reborn gave a very small grin, ducked the swipe and jumped toward Kailyn, kicked her hand, grabbed her sword, kicked off of her stomach, making her step back, and landed on the ground.

Reborn threw the sword to the ground. “Not bad, I was almost caught off-guard by that, but you stepped on a dry leaf. The rest you could have done better, though. Hayate, you need to learn that sneaking up on someone requires silence. Kaito, you need to swing faster, and not hesitate. Kailyn, you need to watch where you step next time, because one single mistake could be the difference between success and failure. Lambo, you’re an idiot.”

Natsu came into the room they were in, which was large, and designed to look like a forest. His clothes were torn and his hair was ragged.

Reborn shifted his gaze to Natsu. “So, how did the training go?”

Natsu gave a small smile. “The illusions got me again. Rin doesn’t let up.”

Reborn sighed. “Tsuna would frown if he saw how weak you all are… this isn’t good, you’ll all have to improve if we want to stand a chance…”

Natsu frowned. “My dad... if he were here today, we’d have no trouble with this, but…”

Hayate shook his head. “Don’t worry, boss, we’ll manage.”

Kailyn picked up her sword and sheathed it. “I was wondering… what exactly is this about? Why would you seek me out? What exactly are you up against?”

Natsu sighed and looked at Kailyn. “I guess you’ll find out one way or another, so we’ll tell you. We, the Vongola guardians, are preparing to face off against three certain people. They’re called the sky trio. All of them, as unlikely as it seems, posses the sky flame. They were people who used to belong to the Vongola family… and defected to join the government.”

[spoiler=Chapter 48]

Chapter 48 - Three of the Sky

Kailyn’s scratched her head. “Wait, why did the three of them defect?”

Reborn looked down. “They were jealous that Natsu was chosen to be the new Vongola boss, since they were the top three candidates. They believed him unworthy of the title, and since his father was the tenth boss, they assumed it was out of that fact that Natsu was chosen.”

Natsu nodded. “I tried to refuse, but it was in my father’s decision that I be made the Vongola’s eleventh boss… I tried to explain to them, but they couldn’t put aside their thought that I was too weak to lead the Vongola. As it is, I’m starting to believe them. My training is going horribly…”

Kailyn shook her head. “I understand they’d want to defect, if that’s how they thought, but I still don’t know why the would join the government…”

Reborn shifted his gaze to Kailyn. “They joined the government to destroy Natsu. They plan to take leadership of the Vongola by force…”

Natsu nodded again. “So we have no choice but prepare, because we know one day we’ll have to face them…”

Silence filled the room for a few minutes. It was broken when Rin ran in.

Rin took a few seconds to catch her breath. “A message came. It’s from Hikaru…”

Natsu’s eyes widened. He ran out of the room, almost bumping into Rin as he ran. Hayate and Kaito followed him. Reborn also ran out, followed by Lambo and Rin. Kailyn stood there for a few seconds, and then ran after them. She saw Rin and Lambo go into a room, and followed them in. She found the rest of the group, along with Kai and Suzuko, staring at a screen. The screen showed the face of a boy with spiky red hair, and crimson eyes. The boy spoke in a charming, almost mocking, manner.

The boy chuckled. “Hello, Vongola. I’m sure you remember me, even if it’s been a year or two. The reason you’re seeing this is because two days from now, you will be forced to participate in a small tournament against us, for the Vongola rings. Well, you can refuse, but I don’t think you really should, because, you see, we can blow up your base, along with the Vongola, easily, but we’d rather not do that. Be at this spot two days from now.”

The boy’s face disappeared, replaced by a map, which marked a spot that meant nothing to Kailyn, but made Natsu’s eyes widen.

Natsu chuckled nervously. “That high school, huh? Funny, how they’d choose that place…”

The boy’s face appeared on the screen again. “I guess you recognize that place a bit, huh? Well, we’ll be waiting, and we expect a good fight, Vongola.”

The boy’s face disappeared, leaving most of the people in the room stunned.

Kailyn shook her head. “What did that guy mean? Do you guys know that place?”

Natsu nodded solemnly. “The place the battle will take place on is a high school. It’s the same high school my dad, the tenth boss of the Vongola, Sawada Tsunayoshi, went to.”

Kailyn’s eyes widened. “So that’s who you meant. I think I’ve heard of him. I heard he was one of the greatest mafia bosses in existence, and one of the most compassionate, too.”

Natsu turned back to face the screen. “Yeah… he truly was great, but… I don’t think I can live up to him. That’s why I don’t understand why he chose me. I’m a loser. I can’t fight off Rin’s illusions, because even when my brain says their illusions, my eyes say otherwise. I can’t put up a good fight, because I’m too much of a pacifist. I’ve tried to get better, but… it’s impossible. Not to mention, now we have to face off against them…”

Kailyn was silent a few seconds, and then began again. “Who exactly is the sky trio made up of?”

Reborn looked at Kailyn. “There’s Hikaru, the one that was on the screen right now. He’s the leader of the sky trio. There’s also Kazusa, the lone girl in the three of them, and a deadly assassin. Finally, there’s Sekyo, the brains of the three. If they openly challenged the Vongola, it must mean they found a new power, or some allies, otherwise, they can’t hope to beat us…”

Natsu finally turned away from the screen and looked at Reborn. “I guess we should begin training as fast as possible, right?”

Reborn nodded. “Yes, let’s begin. Also, Natsu, I think you’re ready. It’s time to introduce you to the dying will pill…”

Chapter 49 - Playing God

Milk was engulfed in ghostly energy as he pulled off the strip. His physical appearance had not changed, but the air around him was swirling.

Deustodo chuckled. “Run, run, run, or die. It doesn’t matter, because I’m going to kill you either way…”

Milk shook his head. “I can’t believe I had to go in this form… but… you are the one who is going to die…”

Milk raised his hand and disappeared. He appeared before Deustodo and raised another hand. A hole opened up in Deustodo’s chest, but was instantly sealed up. Deustodo swiped at Milk, who dropped his hand, making the swipe pass right through him. Milk swung at Deustodo. When Milk’s right hand came in contact with Deustodo, it began to be absorbed. Milk waved his left hand in goodbye and appeared a few feet behind Deustodo.

Milk smiled. “I see… interesting power you have there. It seems you absorb everything that touches you. Too bad my power is a bit more interesting. You see, I can alter things to my will with a mere movement of my hand. I am, essentially, a god in this form…”

Milk moved his hand again, and Deustodo’s upper half was split from his lower half. Deustodo fell to the ground, but reformed a few seconds later. He opened his palm and opened it toward Milk. A blast of crackling white energy was shot at Milk. Milk moved his hand and the blast disappeared. It appeared in front of Deus and hit him, but was absorbed, and a few seconds later shot back at Milk. The blast hit Milk, who was about to move his hand, and knocked him off his feet. Deustodo chuckled, but winced in pain halfway.

Milk sat up slowly and chuckled. “It seems absorbing your own energy is dangerous, huh? Well, I can say I did my best… but with all the power I used... I think I used too much heart…”

Milk fell back, unconscious. Deustodo inched closer to him with a wide grin. He opened his palm and was about to deliver the final blast when his eyes shot open and the black color returned to his madness-made body.

Deustodo gripped his head and hunched over. “Crap…”

Deustodo vanished and a small orb containing swirling black energy dropped to the floor.

With Milk unconscious, and Deustodo nowhere to be seen, the air grew quiet. The burning mansion in the background had now completely crumpled to the ground, and ashes filled the sky above it. With burning cinders, the mansion, and the battle that took place next to it, were both finished.

[spoiler=Chapter 50!!]

Chapter 50 - Beautiful Spring is here, even though it’s Still Winter, and the Flowers of One Thousand Worlds Bloom with passion! The Great 50th Chapter is here! Let us celebrate by going to a Big Party with Cake, Beverages, and Strippers! Or Rather, let’s not. Let us just Celebrate What Will Never Come Again! Anyway, the Next Goal is to Aim for 100 Chapters! Wait… what!?

Dark Link held up a microphone to his mouth. “It’s finally here! The great 50th chapter! We can finally gloat about this being a long-running series! So, to celebrate this historic moment, we’re going to make another character popularity poll!”

Kailyn frowned. “Wait, last time we didn’t even get ten votes in total, so how come we’re having another one?”

Dark Link chuckled, his eyes shining. “Speaking of character popularity, here’s Kailyn, who seems to be liked best for her skills with swords, and her silent demeanor. Welcome the person in 10th place, with fourteen votes, Kailyn Kyosuke!”

Kailyn looked around. “Wait… you mean fourteen people voted for me?”

Dark Link nodded. “Yes, and you got fourteen votes. Make sure to keep up your sword skills and silent demeanor.”

Kailyn blushed. “I have sword skills, but am I really that silent?”

Dark Link nodded. “Yes, you are. Now, moving on to the person who placed 9th in the contest, best liked for her attitude and skill to seal people’s powers, with thirty votes, who you might remember fought Creator in the battle of the Ultima, here’s Rinne!”

Rinne blinked. “I got the 9th highest number of votes? Are you joking?”

Dark Link shook his head. “To tell you the truth, I’m amazed too, I mean, you’re an antagonist, and you only appeared for a few chapters.”

Rinne glared at Dark Link. “You made me an antagonist…”

Dark Link chuckled uncomfortably. “Well you see, that’s… anyway, let’s move on to the person who came in 8th place with thirty-two votes, best liked for his personality and huge scythe, here’s Chase!”

Chase scratched his head. “Wait… I got thirty-two votes? Are you sure you didn’t miscount or something? I mean, I was firkin unconscious for the last ten chapters at least…”

Dark Link waved the score sheet. “Well, it says right here that you got 8th place, so don’t complain and be happy about it. Well, let’s move on…”

Chase held out his hand. “Wait a minute! I didn’t even get a line or two to give the fans my reaction!”

Dark Link sighed and held out the microphone. “Fine, here you go.”

Chase drew in a deep breath. “Thank you all who voted for me.”

Dark Link stared at Chase. “That was all you had to say?”

Chase nodded. “Yeah, I’m not one to go into speeches and drama.”

Dark Link shook his head. “Well next we have the person who came in seventh with forty-three votes, best liked for his card skills and being badass, Caine Ghest.”

Caine stood there. “Wait… you mean I only got seventh place? And only forty-three people voted for me?”

Dark Link nodded. “Precisely, now, if you have no further things to say, not like I’ll let you say them, let’s introduce the sixth placer, with fifty-five votes, best liked for her fiery personality and adding ecchi to the chapters, here’s Field Sprite!”

Caine’s eye twitched. “Wait, I got fewer votes than a fairy?”

Dark Link wagged his finger at Caine. “Not just a fairy. She’s a sprite. Anyway, any words for us, Field Sprite?”

Field Sprite slightly blushed. “Yeah, thank you all who voted for me. I really appreciate it, and I’ll keep trying my best.”

Dark Link leaned over and kissed Field Sprite on the cheek.

Field Sprite blushed and leaned back. “Why in world would you do that? I was having a serious moment here, and I don’t need to be harassed!”

Dark Link chuckled. “Well, according to my other, private, poll, the match-up with the most popularity is me and you. Well, before things get out of hand, and unnecessary questions about a certain poll are asked, let’s move on to the person who placed 5th, with sixty-two votes… me! I’d like to thank this moment to my fans, and my Field Sprite and Forest Sprite, without whom I could not have accomplished this.”

Dark Link leaned over and kissed Field Sprite’s cheek again. Field Sprite ran to hide behind a desk.

She peeked out, blushing. “Why do you keep on doing that? I hardly feel like I can stay next to you without being harassed…”

Dark Link smiled. “Well, under normal circumstances, you’d never let me do that, so I have to take every chance I get. Anyway, it’s back to business. Here’s the person who got 4th place with sixty-six votes, best liked for his personality, Deustodo!”

Deustodo chuckled. “I just wish I would have gotten 1st place, then I could gloat about it to piss you all off.”

Dark Link sighed. “Well, that’s why people like you, so keep it up. Anyway, it’s time to enter the top three. In 3rd place, with one hundred and ten votes, best liked for his intelligence and personality, here’s Milk!”

Milk looked around. “You mean a member of the rebellion actually managed to get in the top three? Well, I’m flattered, but I just do what I think is best.”

Dark Link nodded. “Right, anyway, keep up those strategies. People seem to like them. Well, now for the person who came in 2nd place with one hundred and forty votes, best liked for his role in filler chapters, here’s Creator!”

Creator stared at Dark Link. “Wait… you’re saying people only voted for me because of the misunderstandings and perverted situations you put me through?”

Dark Link nodded vaguely as he looked at the score sheet. “There’s more perverts in the world than you’d think. Anyway, a lot of your votes did come from people who liked your fighting style, but most came from people who laughed at the fillers. Now, without further ado, I will introduce the person who managed to get 1st place in the contest, with an astounding two hundred and two votes, best liked for a lot of things, the queen herself, Dark Magician Girl!”

Dark Magician Girl grinned. “Finally, I went from one to two hundred and two. That seems fair, but what were some reasons people voted for me?”

Dark Link looked through the list. “Let’s see… kissing Field Sprite… kissing Creator… awesome fighting skills… and one just says ‘cool’… anyway, you can see people like you for a variety of reasons.”

Creator sighed. “So there’s about as much perverts as there are stupid people in this world…”

Dark Link looked at his list again. “Oh yeah, for those of you who are wondering, Flame Dragon got eight votes, Dokuro got six votes, Pikachu got five, and Bagon got two. Those were the last of the votes.”

Forest Sprite nodded. “Even though I didn’t get a vote, I still feel happy for the people who did.”

Field Sprite nodded. “Yeah, we hope to make it to one hundred chapters someday!”

Dark Link flinched. “One hundred, is it? Well, I better get started…”
