TAG
Anyways, I've been noticing a trend lately. A bad one. Alright, so you finally get a Sonic game that is actually awesome. And then everyone reviews about how good it is. But then, there's always this one review that makes it out to sound much less awesome than it really is. This review is, more often than not, flawed in multiple ways. But that's not what gets me aggravated. No, it's the comments. Before, the comments would always range from "ZOMG THIS REVIEW IS FAIL" to something more in-depth as to why the review is flawed (like one of Cyber Altair's recent [at least I think it was recent] posts there). But NOW, whenever I see one of these reviews, all I see is "Finally, an honest review" or "See, this is why I listen to you. Because you, unlike other people, actually give honest reviews." THAT. PISSES. ME. OFF. TO. NO. END. I mean, it's one thing when there's reviews that actually sound like the reviewers are giving their personal opinions and not just going with what everyone else has to say. But no. Those aren't the ones that get said comment. It ALWAYS happens when there's one review that's considerably lower than the rest. Also, it's not like it's been like this for a long time. I've only seen it happen VERY recently. Games like Arkham, NSMB Wii, and Assassin's Creed 2 (hai Cyber). I know this because when IGN gave Sonic and the Black Knight a 3.9, which was considerably lower than anybody else (even Gamespot), everyone there asploded into rage (which makes no sense since the general consensus is that the game isn't really worth playing anyways). Or when there was always a few reviews of Super Smash Bros. Brawl that gave the game a 7, people proceeded to b***h and moan about it. But not anymore. Now, 5's & 6's are called "honest" if everyone else gives it 9's and 10's. WHY???? Who says that a 9 review can't be honest? Who says that a 5 review IS honest? For all we know, the latter is a hater who will give a game of a series a bad score no matter how good it is. The former could be expecting something crappy, but instead wind up genuinely impressed with what they got. I've seen people who say, "Don't bash him. It's his opinion." That's good. I applaud people who say that. What I don't applaud is when certain people in that group who take it a step too far and just take that one review as the truth simply because it's supposedly not afraid to say what other people supposedly wouldn't say. Because sometimes, that makes the review be much more full of himself than he actually should be. Discuss how people suck up to reviewers for the wrong reasons. Cyber Altair
Oh god, these people do ANYTHING to suck up to the reviewer. Jim is a generally awesome guy who I agree with (except the AC2 review because seriously wtf?). There are a lot of people who suck up to people or will believe one bad review over a 1000 good one because it's honest and has a "ROW ROW FIGHT DA POWAH" mentality. When a great game gets a bad review people who haven't got it think all reviews are baised or paid except the bad one because everyone must like the game or else the game is bad. Also I'm not a cblog guy, the main attraction for me are the forums.
