Capitalism vs. Communism

Instead of posting a verbose explanation as to why I put this poll up... I'll just leave it at "both are flawed, pick one."

I perer Capitalism. The idea of getting MY OWN house, MY OWN property, and MY OWN bussiness is more better then everyone sharing.

How so?

Capitalism provides incentives for people. For example, I want to start up a business because I can feed my family. In communism, this isn't necessary, therefore, no one starts economic activity, and the entire human race stagnates.

 

Communism is better in theory, because, in capitalism, if I work in a factory, then I don't get all the labor I put in back to me. If a car I made cost me $150 in labor, I don't get that $150 back, I get, say, $100, and $50 goes to the owner of the factory as profits.

The way we practice capitalism leaves an incredibly large portion of the population trapped like animals in poverty, while the rich enjoy the fruits of capitalism. Only people who actually benefit from capitalism are entertainers, politicians, and natural-born rich people.

Communism makes sense and looks good on paper and if it could be practiced functionally, it would be far superior.

 

Capitalism is all cool and whatnot but alot of people get the sheet end of the stick. :/

...or totally average lower- to lower middle-class people like me.:/ (I was raised in a family of workers and farmers (grandparents). Only my mother became an office worker.)

 

I don't support turbo-capitalism but in my country especially, I can say that the living standard we have nowadays is a fruit of capitalism. Though the worker movements played an important role in the industrial south of course.

Plus, Communism can only work if no one becomes corrupt, and the first thing humans do with power is to turn corrupt. Capitalism is so far our best choice.

Capitalism can turn JUST as corrupt, and pretty much have the same effects of a corrupt communist system. :O

You cannot just spew out that democracy or capitalism are effective and that communism will never work. Time is relative to the effectiveness of a certain type of power. If we travel a mere millennium into the past, none of the political and social structures mentioned above could have been plausible.

Completely incorrect, the people who benefit from capitalism are those that make a better life for themselves. It is up to you where you will be placed in society. If you work hard in school, go to college, and become something then you benefit from capitalism. You get back what you try to accomplish. You are as great, rich, and powerful as you set out to be. If you are lazy and do poorly then it is your fault not the economic styles.

 

However, in a communism or any other variant of socialism, everyone is "equal" and nobody will increase their wealth or social standing. In effect, the economy will in time destroy itself. This happens because capitalism makes the economy stronger by gaining money from other countries through big business, and a communism continues to recycle their money until it becomes worthless. Even Karl Marx thought that communism couldn't work long term.

Oh please, there are billions of scholarship programs set in place to help the poor go to school and get an education. Most who break the cycle do it through education not entertainment/politics. When and if they choose to do well in school and go on to college is their own decision. I know of many people who started in poverty and put themselves through school to do well in society. My own parents both started out in much less than well-to-do families and they both went to college unlike many other members of my family to have all the things we do. The reason they rarely break the cycle is because they, like you, want a free government hand out and refuse to work for their keep. It is your own ideology that condemns these people.

I don't want a free government hand-out. That's one of the reasons I don't support communism. But I also don't support capitalism because it was made for rich people, and there's no denying it. If escaping poverty was as easy as you make it seem, NOBODY would be poor and everyone would be just fine and dandy.The media is made in such a way that people are led to believe there is nothing better than what they're living in, and once a person has lived in such an environment for so long they easily will believe such things. And as far as government corruption goes, capitalism is no better. Also, just out of curiosity, have YOU ever lived in poverty?
