Chase manuevered his scythe to counter the sword but gets slashed deep with the dagger then he begins glowing with a black aura and the blade to his scythe turns black "I don't have a hell of an idea whats happening to me but I think its good." chase then swung his scythe at Rikka breaking through the daggers but only hitting him on the head and knocking him out then Chase fell backwards having fainted from loss of blood

The banter was long-winded, but acceptable given his situation. The incapacitation exposed a lack of concentration. The very fact that he was bothering to engage the Nishi was a sign of his poor prioritization.

 

Typical Chase.

 

"Maxwell?"

 

A small, glowing teal orb appeared just in front of her nose, as insubstantial as an ember.

 

"Go break 'em up. Cool the Nishi down first, but switch if Chase gets uncomfortable."

 

The ember disappeared.

 

Her own involvement in the hunt for the Key of Lust would be much more subtle... and, no doubt, efficient. For example, she knew where the Key was. And as appropriate as it was for the head of Nishi house, given the few transmissions Akane had been able to intercept, there was no point in wasting a perfectly good Key.

 

There was only one way up in the ranks of Seto House — Akane's good will. And she would earn it, one way or another. Soon she'd be tasked to find many, many more keys, especially when it became apparent that her participation was unavoidable. Even if she was punished for insubordination, she could simply switch houses — surely the bonds of blood weren't so strong.

 

Conveniently, the Key was in a sealed chamber — thanks to Maxwell, she could effortlessly control the environment. Unfortunately, he was occupied. On the other hand, so were the others. Chase's restriction within the walls of Maxwell's field would give her the opportunity to take the Key herself; Rikka wouldn't get in the way either, and she'd be able to more properly assess his psyche.

 

Off she trotted, seeking the chamber.

am hour later Rikka starts coming to. "Where am i and what happened to the Seto?" he asked noticing he was inside the Church and then looking over saw the Seto lying on a bench like he was. "I must kill you." Rikka said with little power then he tried to get up and fell back down with a massive pain in his side. Looking down he see his ribs are broken. He notices that Chase also has a gash in his side from his dagger.

 

"You must go back to sleep young prince we will take care of you and your friend." a voice said

 

"But he is not my fri......" Rikka passes out on the bench.

Huh. That was odd.

 

Now that she'd come back to check on the combatants, Mitsuki couldn't help but notice that both of them were half-dead, and Maxwell was nowhere to be seen. Ominous.

 

"Maxwell?"

 

The little ember appeared. If anything, it was brighter than before.

 

"Good; you're alive. What happened down there?"

 

"I evacuated after sensing another Summon. I do not know what actually occurred."

 

Damn. An unknown variable. All that was known was that after Maxwell had changed the temperature and weakened the combatants, something had been able to swoop in and nearly finish the job. Not terribly specific.

 

"Oh, well. Look, I found the place — it's in a temple, ironically enough. The Key of Lust in the Building of Chastity. Head over there; don't actually start anything 'till I arrive."

 

"How long?"

 

Strange. He wasn't usually this talkative. "Not long; twenty minutes or so. I've been there and back while they were fighting, after all, scouting the perimeter. We'll be fine, even if some others showed up in the meantime."

 

The ember vanished, signaling Maxwell's agreement with the plan. Mitsuki took off.

"What is going on here?" Rikka gets off the bench and walks over to Chase and check on him."HHHHmmmm he is still alive but barely i need to get him help were is my pouch it has medicine for just this kind of cut." Rikka started to look around. "I can't let him die i must kill him myself, but i must do it fairly when we are both at full power. you don't die i will see you again i must first get back to my base." Rikka steps back grabs his stuff and leaves getting a lift from Eagle back to base.

Chase opens his eye and looks around puzzled "ummmm...uhh where...when...who?" *10 minutes later "oh now i remember...kinda anyways I think I'll head back to the Seto house." Chase then picks up Ziamos's summoner orb and his scythe and rushes off back to the Seto house *30 minutes later* chase steps back into the confrence room and sits down in his chair "please don't ask."

"Yo," Mitsuki said happily to Chase, deliberately sneaking up behind him to unsettle him. "I got your key while you were out." She waved the key in front of his face.

 

"Where's Seto-sama?" she added. "We have a key, we need to fork it over."

 

I need to, she added mentally. You... it's optional.

Well. A new clue appears.

 

While Maxwell was certainly powerful, he didn't actually affect the movement of air particles; it simply contained them, allowing and denying energetic diffusion as in its eponymous thought experiment. The new monster, however, obviously had power over air; a vacuum, if Chase was being literal, but that couldn't be counted on. A less ominous possibility was aerokinesis — that brutal power would very rapidly create a huge temperature gradient within Maxwell, and cause a deep disturbance without it.

 

These clues were rather painful to process. Even in the worst case scenario, Seto's powers would be greatly limited. Against aerokinesis, the unreliable Maxwell was their only hope... and against a vacuum-wielding foe, she would be of no help at all.

OoC: Read pages. Key of Lust battle, the groups fight, Seto wins, Mitsuki is presenting it. A mysterious, air-manipulating force incapacitated the combatants partway through, however.

after everyone posts, I'll activate the next set of keys.

 

Seto house

 

Akane twirled in her ballerina outfit. Not only did Chase retrive the key of Chastity, but Mitsuki also the key of lust. She smiled. The key of Chastity was said to be able to set restrictions on a target or target area while the key of lust was able to slight control reality to give the weilder of target her desires, with the use of extensive illusions. They would be valuable tools in the fight. But she wouldn't assign them just yet.

 

Nishi House

 

Hank simmered in rage. Rikka had failed to retrive the key! That put the Seto house two Key's ahead! if they used the key's power, who knew what they could do. If his fightes refused to work properly, he would have to punish them, then act himself...

Mission complete.

 

There was little for her to do while awaiting further instructions. She lived alone, far from the rest of Seto house, on what both houses considered neutral ground. Generally, she would either contemplate her plans or sleep as she waited.

 

Today, she chose both. Turning over the facts she knew about the mystery monster availed her nothing, and she eventually thought herself to sleep.
