Maybe a solution for the people not reading the rules.

If we could set it up so when someone joins' date=' a list of the most important rules are sent to them in an [b']un-formal format. Maybe this will make them read the basic rules to at least get the gist of the do's and dont's

@ Bolded: like, PM? If that's so then maybe they will just ignore it and somehow will just delete the PM, because we knew sometimes we hate rules, even reading it.

Both support and no support, but more like to the no support.

I mean like, a PM titled "Hey, what's up?" and it says like "I hope you enjoy it here on YCM! Don't do this this or this and you'll be fine..." or something like that.

*insert rules here, right?" or something like that.

OK, now I'm slightly goes to support, but not fully. Why? Because, usually, I don't read PMs of greetings or automated PMs when you were first joined. But if you can just make the rules simple and not as long as if you take out the capilarities from your own body (took around the world twice), then I support.

i support heavily seeing as most of the younger poeple including me when i first joined definitely would not like this ... but if it were not that formal put in a very friendly way i think the user would be more nice and follow the rules a lot more mainly because things that are way strict stick in your head as a bad thing so you don't want to follow them if this sticks in there head as a there trying to be nice to me thing they might pass that on to other users and this would also work for more then one user ... if we were to start this now we would have enough people in one year who have gotten that PM then wait another half year and this place will follow the rules much more and probably also be a nicer place in general.

Support.

Maybe less people will get banned if this is implemented

You know as well as I do, that riding with it while being respectful gets you everywhere. So doing this won't help.

I'm quite sure most rules I have written are done in a friendly' date=' pseudo-list fashion.

What's so hard about them?

Yeah, although, you're not shoving the rules down their throats hard enough. (Meaning you gotta shove it in their face and stuff so they read it).

On topic, no support. My reasons are clearly listed:

- New Members are likely to delete it immediately.

- It seems pointless.

- Maybe giving them an invitation to the Rules thread instead of PMing the rules to them would be easier.

- Why not make it so user's have to view the "Rules" thread before making a post in a certain section. For example, if I wanted to post in the Realistic Cards section, my posts are disabled until I have read the "Rules" thread first.

Some of those are reasons, some of them are better ways of alerting newcomers of the rules than you have suggested.

Either way, like I said, no support.
