Hundreds - literally hundreds - of punk rockers are better than this "punk" band.

 

Sleater-Kinney's better.

 

The Pop Group's better.

 

The Ramones.

 

Sex Pistols.

 

The Clash pre-Rock the Casbah.

 

Devo (inasmuch as they pursued punk before releasing any albums).

 

Richard Hell and the Voidoids.

 

Patti Smith.

 

And what does this band bring to the table? Crap thrown into people's faces to elicit reactions - anything.

Yeah, that's great. But I'm asking for a similar band and to discuss the band, not for you to go "This is better, that's better, etc."

I am discussing this band of yours by comparing them to past luminaries, dour sir. Quite frankly, I find them wanting, grossly UNPUNK. Like listenin' to Billy Idol without the fun.

their album "The Holy Bible" is about as punk as you can get (great hooks, political ad nauseam, sweet guitar riffs, etc.). Be warned though, their heaviest album is also their darkest, and the lyrics are quite filthy too. You won't giggle AT ALL to this album like you do to Blink-182 (which, BTW are NOT punk).

 

here's the song Faster, you'll enjoy it if you like fast, alternative rock.

If you're looking for more Punk from the Manics, stop here. Later albums (while still very good), they are quite poppy and don't have the impact or the punk attitude that "the holy bible" had.

but punk is not music, it's an attitude. The word punk can really be applied to anything (art, music, poetry etc.), but you have to come from that period of time to really understand what punk means. Blink 182 could make music that "sounds" like punk, but their really not. They just don't have that mentality.

 

If you want a band that sounds like Blink, but even better, try Superchunk. They came out in the early 90's and sound amazing.

Funny how stuff works. Apparently, people cant say Blink 182 is crap(they are) but people can say that the real punk is crap. Yes thats very nice.

 

I listen to Metal but you gotta admit Punk is better than any genre thats popular today
