Clubs and Organizations Rules (remade)

Since I have decided to take over this section I’m going to add some special rules. Like the rules I made up in VG and Movies the list will start out short and as time passes I’ll add more as needed.

 

So for now these are the main rules that I’ve found need to be addressed.

 

1) Clubs needs some form of topic.

 

What said topic is I don’t care (so long as it’s forum appropriate), you just need one. Topics that don’t have some over branching idea will often get swing wildly from one idea to another with no common link and as such is just general banter. This kind of stuff will not be tolerated.

 

2) Getting off Topic (ie: spamming in a club)

 

Continuing from the thought process from the last point my actions in regard to a spam club will often follow this guide.

 

I) Has no common thought: These kinds of clubs are ones that just seem to have no topic. Normally a club will have it’s guide in the first post (hint: have what your clubs topic is in the first post) and clubs that fall under this group will not have that often implying it is a club in which you can talk about anything. The other way to fall into this group is to have a club with a topic but almost everything in the topic is just general, meaningless, talk. The first FTK thread is a great example of this where even though they had a topic of fake types the club itself was just a spam hole. These threads will get locked 99% of the time. If this happens you are free to remake the thread though.

 

II) Has topic, but has just gotten really spammy: Much like one these are clubs that have lost sight of their original topic (if they even had one). However the club has tried to keep on topic and have some rules in regard to spamming in the club (hint: have rules about what happens to people that spam a club). These clubs will either getting a warning added to their club and, if needed, will be locked for a short time. The warning system will be worked out in the next rule. As for the locking of a club it will be a short lock (1 to 2 days) to give the club members a sign to stop with the spam. It will also give the club a chance to start new with out having to have a new club made. When the club is unlocked I will bump it back to the first page.

 

III) Clubs that only just started to get spammy: This clubs again have lost sight of their original topic, however what sets them apart from the over group is, as you can guess, it only recently happened. These clubs will simply get a warning added. Also as a note, I foresee this to be the rarest group.

 

3) Warning

 

The warning system will be some similar to the warning system used for members of the forum. The basic warnings will range anywhere from 10% to 50% based on how bad the spam is. Once a club gets a warning of 50% or more it will be temp locked (see rule 2: II for how I will deal with temp locks). Once a club reaches 100% it will be perm locked. Warning will go away after 1 to 3 months based on what the warning was.

 

4) What are we talking about

 

Avoid asking question. It’s that simple. Take 2 min and go check what the club as been talking about. If I see a person continuously ask this question I will give them a 10% warn.

 

5) The stickies

 

I If a stuck club is inactive for over a week it will be unstuck.

 

II After 3/4 months all current stuck clubs will be unstuck. This is to allow a verity of clubs a chance to become stuck. Clubs that are unstuck this was will be able to reapply to be a sticky the next the application thread is reopened.

IMO, this rules is stupid. I understand what the rule is trying to prevent, but I really don’t see a need to it. As such this rules will no longer be in effect. If I see a need for this to change though, I will.

Well, that post is spam that's why. I often see that kind of post reported. While asking once won't get me mad I don't want people making a habit of it, because it is spam. I mean how hard is it to read back two or three pages to see what people have been talking about. So I have changed it to say avoid asking that. Better?

It's basicly the same, it's just bold works wonders in making things look better.

actually, that makes sense Luna. having the rules that were there before at the top, and then the additions at the bottom. to list the rules in their entirety without them seeming to be fragmented, you could post it all in order of topics in a spoiler box so that it dosn't take up to much space. XD but that's just my opinion.

and thank you so much for changing the one club only rule. that had me worried. =D

anyway, what about a club that has specific anime or video game topics or something like that, but also allows for any type of conversation with normal stuff and things like that. would that be considered spam?

So by a Topic does it mean that clubs liek Club Pikachhu or Leo's Club o' FUn are against the rule or no?

Club Pikachu has a topic' date=' pokemon and the forum (at least now it has that I hope).

your club would break that rule.

It shouldn't matter that much if it's first thing noted or the last. Plus it isn't like it's that big a deal.

 

If it allows for any type of conversation it would be spam.

Meaning it will be Locked or since it was created before the rule not locked?

 

Meaning you have a week or so to meet the new rule.

 

On that note it is unfair to lock threads that don't meet new rules. As such all threads have a week or two to meet the new rules.

But really theres not other place to talk about any stuff and Post Cards and GFX and help other poeple all in just one thread

 

Well most of that can be done in other places. i'm sure you've heard of the saying "jack of all trades, but master of none." That's what your club is. While you can do a lot your better off focusing on one topic.

 

And if anything you can say your club is a "help" club. Which is pushing it.

If you have a club based around XYZ topic' date=' but for some reason, maybe about 10 posts are off-topic (Mario YouTube videos in a Pokemon club), would that constitute for a club warning?

 

Or do we have some wiggle room to what is regarded "on-topic"?

If that was all, no it wouldn't. I know spamming happens, and so long as the club can correct itself before it gets bad I'll let it go.

The New rules make alot more sense than the old ones. Just one thing though: Was it necessary to bring up the FTK? I mean we acknowledged the problem and tried to fix it' date=' but you didn't have to go there. This is like adding insult to injury.

Still, the problem is fixed and that is all that matters

Doesn't that mean the followig is possible

 

Club is discussing X when their club is about Y

You say their club is about Y

The club changes it's name to The X Club

I'll note any clubs that seem to be changing the base a lot. I don't mind them doing it a couple a times if the club members seem to want to change what the club is on, but if they over do it I'll lock the club.
