GAK's and Klemenkin's Card of the week! Article #3 finally posted!!!

Recommended Posts

This is the card of the week i always wanted to make! This week's article is about Hydrogeddon!!!

Hydrogeddon:

HydrogeddonCP04-EN-SR.jpg

1) Setting up the field.

Positive:

Getting Hydrogeddon to the field is pretty easy. It is a Level 4 monster with 1600 ATK. Although not searchable by Sangan it can be Special Summoned by the effect of Damage Condenser since it has only 1600 ATK and receiving 1600 damage is really easy. For traditional format users, it can also be added to your hand using Witch of the Black Forest.

Negative:

There aren’t many cards that allow a player to summon Hydrogeddon. Since his attack exceeds 1500, it can’t be special summoned by Mother Grizzly or added to you hand by Sangan. If you play Advanced format then you are unlucky because since Witch of the Black Forest. is forbidden, you cannot add it to your hand by her effect

2) Using the cards to the fullest.

The goal of this card is to swarm the field with 3 copies of him. There are many

ways to do this:

a) Using Ojama Trio is one of the best combos. You activate Ojama Trio. Then you attack each token with your Hydrogeddon. This way you get 2 more Hydrogeddon and your opponent is 900 LP down.

b) You can use Umiiruka or Aqua Chorus to power up this card to an amazing amount of 2100 ATK!!!

c) Use Book of Moon or Swords of Concealing Light so that your opponent’s monsters are face-down. This way they are gonna be a vulnerable to your attacks. Beware however! Be careful on monster destroyers like Night Assailant cause if their effect will activate then you won’t be able to bring another Hydrogeddon.

3) Rulings

These are the rulings on Hydrogeddon:

a) If it battles a monster with equal Attack, and both are destroyed, you cannot Special Summon a Hydrogeddon from your Deck

b) If it battles with a monster like Night Assailant you cannot Special Summon a Hydrogeddon from your Deck because Flip Effects activate during the Damage Step when attacked, so Hydrogeddon would be destroyed before Night Assailant is sent to the graveyard.

4) Deck Construction

This is a short list of cards you should include in your deck.

3 Hydrogeddon

1 Book of Moon

1-2 Ojama Trio

1 Damage Condenser(not necessarily)

1 Umiiruka(not necessarily)

1-3 Aqua Chorus(This is gonna be really useful!!!)

Throw in the some staples and whatever else you can think of.

The next article is gonna be about The Wicked Dreadroot and i gonna be written by Klemenkin!

GAK’s and Klemenkin’s Card of the day #3

System Down:

CRV-EN-ult-041.jpg

1) Setting up the field.

As System Down is a Spell card it is rather easy to get it to your hand. It can be sent to your hand by the effect of Magician of Faith or by drawing cards aka. Rare Value, Magical Merchant etc.

2) Using the cards to the fullest.

This card can really screw the machines and Jinzo, so it is better to side deck it. Try also using DNA Surgery. This will make all monsters on your opponent’s side of the field machines. Then BAM! Here goes system down. It will clear all of your opponent’s field and graveyard machine monsters. Since most people use Cyber Dragon and Jinzo, this card has a great potential to counter those decks. If you are lucky enough to play with a Chimeratech OTK or a Gadget Deck then you got the game! Another OK combo is to use it with Creature Swap. You give your opponent a machine monster like Cyber Dragon and you get his. System Down and you go for the direct attack.

3) Rulings

The card rulings for this card:

• "System Down" does not remove face-down Machines.

• "Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer" will prevent Machines in the Graveyard from being removed from play for "System Down", but Machines on the field can still be removed from play by its effect.

• If your opponent has no Machines in the Graveyard and no Machines on the field, you cannot activate "System Down".

• If "Heavy Mech Support Platform" is equipped to a Machine when "System Down" is activated, the equipped monster is removed from play but "Heavy Mech Support Platform" is just destroyed and sent to the Graveyard.

4) Deck Construction

This is a short list of cards you should include in your deck.

There are not cards to play in your main deck with System Down so here are some cards to include in the side deck:

2-3 System Down

1-2 DNA Surgery

1-2 Magical Merchant

1 Creature Swap

3 Cyber Dragon

Throw in the some staples and whatever else you can think of.

But but but....

"If it battles with a monster like Night Assailant you cannot Special Summon a Hydrogeddon from your Deck because Flip Effects activate during the Damage Step when attacked, so Hydrogeddon would be destroyed before Night Assailant is sent to the graveyard."

Flip efects activate when a card is sent to the Graveyard, so :|

@God GAK

I don't know what you mean by "found this rest of the article" I'm just smart. xD no, in my game, when my E-Hero Flame Wingman destroyed an Dandylion token, the damage didn't inflict. (There was another trap card that didn't activate when a token was destroyed either, but I can't remember it's name.)

I don't think so. LEt me check UDE about this

EDIT:

Flip Effects

Flip Effects are not activated until the "Resolve effects" portion of the Damage Step. This is extremely important for effects like "Man-Eater Bug" and "Hane-Hane", as these effects are not activated until after damage calculation is performed. Usually, the "Man-Eater Bug"/"Hane-Hane" is destroyed during damage calculation because their DEF is so weak. However, there is a difference between being destroyed (which happens in "Calculate and apply damage") and being sent to the Graveyard (which happens last, in "Send to the Graveyard"). In-between these 2 portions is when the flip effect is resolved.

For example, "Summoned Skull" attacks a face-down "Man-Eater Bug." In the Damage Step, first "Man-Eater Bug" is flipped face-up. Then damage calculation is performed, the result of which is that "Man-Eater Bug" is destroyed. Next we resolve "Man-Eater Bug"’s effect and destroy a monster on the field (any monster, but let's pick "Summoned Skull"). Finally, in "Send to the Graveyard", both monsters are placed in the Graveyard. The result is that "Man-Eater Bug" uses its Flip Effect to destroy "Summoned Skull", BUT "Man-Eater Bug" is still destroyed by the attack.

Now let's change the example so that "Summoned Skull" attacks "Hane-Hane." "Hane-Hane" is flipped face-up during the Damage Step. During damage calculation, "Summoned Skull" destroys "Hane-Hane." Then "Hane-Hane" resolves its flip effect. "Hane-Hane" can return 1 monster on the field to its owner's hand. However, note (on page 32) that you "Do not apply effects to monsters that are already destroyed." This means that "Hane-Hane" cannot use its effect on itself, because it has already been destroyed, even though it has not yet been sent to the Graveyard. "Hane-Hane" can use its effect to return "Summoned Skull", or any other monster other than "Hane-Hane" itself, to the owner's hand.

Nope. The effect is a FLIP effect so it doesn't apply:
