bns2009
its just a myth. why does everybody think the world ends in 2012?
ragnarok1945
you seem to forget almost every myth has to have some degree of truth in them
Ezio
I saw it the day it came out in my cinema. Meh, entertaining film. Oh and jumping into this conversation. Nostrodamus who prophesied the end of the world was also said to have foreseen significant events such as the fall of the twin towers. However his writings are so vague and interpreted as the reader sees fit. For he would say something like "the skies will burn" or "the sky was on fire" etc. It could be interpreted to any event where there is a flame significantly above ground. A plane exploding or something like that.
ragnarok1945
Oh I never watched Nostrodamus Still, after watching 2012 it DID get me to consider maybe I should give it a try........
Ezio
I didn't watch it. I just know. I should watch it too...
ragnarok1945
You know I was actually surprised to see the President choose to allow Adrian (the scientist) to go on his plane while he stayed behind. It proved he was a smarter president than all the others shown in the other films, where the politicians were willing to sacrifice ANYONE and ANYTHING to save their own hides in times like these
Ezio
I know, but to be fair the guy who said keep the gates closed had a far better, more reasonable and logical case than the scientist who said all that sh!t about it making us human. If they had just shut the gate they wouldn't have almost died. And those Arks were so cool. If I were to go on one of those I would feel like Darth Vader or someone from Star Wars. They looked so cool.
ShootingTheMoon
The president and Adrian (Im guessing) were the only smart ones in the movie (I didn't see it though)
Ezio
The president and Adrian (Im guessing) were the only smart ones in the movie (I didn't see it though) No, there were many smart people in the film. The crazy yellowstone guy was so awesome.Everyone who made the Arks were smart. The main character was pretty smart for being the only poor person to survive with his family (pretty much). ShootingTheMoon
How'd they survuve? I thought the planet would just go out with a bang, as Deidara says "Art is a Bang!"
ragnarok1945
Yeah there's plenty. But remember the government policy: if you speak out on something that'll cause panic, you get assasinated Then, when the time comes and it turns out the crazy guys were actually right, the government will say "you can't blame us for not telling you, though we knew all along. We only tell the people what they WANT to hear"
Ezio
Well, out of roughly 7 billion people. 6.9999999999999 billion people die.Only the lucky (rich) few survive. And the poor people I mention previously.

Phantom Roxas
Yes, because there are just about as many people alive that suffered from earthquakes as there are people that survived Hurricane Katrina, and the damage were certainly of the same scale. Actually, I'll leave Dark Phoenix to deal with the rest.
ragnarok1945
besides, in southern CA wildfires are also a part of life.
ShootingTheMoon
I'm lucky, I live In Connecticut. That stuff wouldn't effect me, although we did have one earthquake when I was about 3.
ragnarok1945
No, but given what happened in the film, you'd be in for some serious tidal wave problems
