Chex
I started to listen to Japanese rock and Japanese pop a month ago and got addicted into it. They're pretty good overall, I'd say about the same level as American music (just my opinion). Their music is kind of different from American music but they're still great to me. Death Metal
I've never liked J-Pop or Rock. Japan makes some pretty decent Melodic Black/Death though. Depending on the band.

CinnamonStar
^Well Tokio Hotel are a German band with their own music style. Not really J-Rock though. And of course.^^I think J-Pop is way better than "Western" Pop. J-Rock sometimes, as for Metal though I think they still have to catch up... Tabris
I've got some records here by The Stalin, Blankey Jet City, Ali Project, Ringo Shiina, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Happy End... Overall, the Japanese music industry, despite its flair for over-the-top hightech effects, sucks.

There's always bound to be people who don't like something but I do agree with it sometimes because when I listen to some J-rock or J-pop song that I've never heard before they do try to incorporate all or some of these musical effects to their song which makes it sound funky and bad sometimes. It sometimes screws up of how the song could've played like before they incorporated those into the song itself.
Tabris
Overall' date=' the Japanese music industry, despite its flair for over-the-top hightech effects, sucks.[/quote'] :o Really? Oh sure. From the start, the corporations took over and made Jrock into something resembling today's Western music scene (at least the mainstream one) - a bunch of cookie-cutter prettygals (or boytoys) warblin' some trite songs on equally trite issues. Only difference is that, by and large, it has been like that all these funking years.
