Noob Manga Book Prototype

Hey guys, I was searching google, and found this Manga Template by Osakan. Anyways, I decided to put some Kingdom Hearts Stuff on it for my set, and well, it turned out...bleh I guess. I was hoping for some tips and help. I was also wondering, why can't I use a brush on a plain white background? I can only do it on open layers or other pictures that are pasted on.

So plain...so ew lol.

 

As you can see, I'm a really big nubcake at GFX, but I hope to improve to making sigs or something.
