[spoiler=Chapter 4: The Duel of Judgment! Valian VS The Forsaken! (Part 1)]

The next day the weather had changed radically. The morning sun was arising at the horizon, and only a few clouds could be seen in the distance. Raiko awoke from his "bed" on the couch. During the 13 years he had been living with Shizuka he never really had an own bed, and out of respect fro his "mother", he let her sleep in the bed with himself sleeping on the couch. He heard Shizuka from within the kitchen.

"Morning!" He said loudly so that she heard him.

"Good morning, Raiko!" Shizuka responded. "Can you go to the grocery to get some eggs, please?"

"Well... Sure!" He replied and left for the door. When he was out of the building he was struck by the shining light of the morning sun. The streets was still wet from the night's storm. There was not many people outside during this time of day, there was just an old lady walking along the streets on the other side of the road. The grocery store was just down the road, so Raiko started walking. He bought some eggs at the store and returned to the apartment. He decided to check the mail on the way up and just found some invoices, the newspaper and a letter, adressed to himself. He went to the apartment again and gave the eggs to Shizuka.

"Here you are!" He said and smiled, then took his letter and opened it.

"What's that?" She asked and tried to see what the letter said.

Raiko was shocked at what the letter said, and started to read it loud.

"You are welcome to attend to the Duel of Judgment for Mister Valian Jackson, sentenced for; murder, attempted murder aswell as violence towards a member of Security. What the hell is this!?" Raiko said angrily. "I'm sure Valian didn't do anything of these things, and what murder!? If someone had been murdered I'm sure we would ha..." He was suddenly interupted by Shizuka gasping. He turned to her and saw that she was now holding the newspaper, with a big picture of a bald, rather fat man on the cover. Raiko recognised the man as Kuroda Naoki, the director of Kaiba Corp. Under the picture there was a big text saying; The Director of Kaiba Corp Dead. Raiko grabbed the newspaper out of Shizuka's hands and read the small text under the big text.

"Kuroda Naoki, the director of Kaiba Corporation was found dead in his house yesterday. Valian Jackson, the current "King of Dueling" has been appointed for this murder. He is also sentenced for rigging a duel against the challenger Raiko Skyer, who was near victory when his D-Wheel crashed. (See page 6 for details) Valian Jackson is to compete in a Judgment Duel with another criminal. A Judgment Duel is a duel whit your life at risk. The duelists is wearing suits that, when the life points reaches 0, releases a 1.000.000 volt shock into the loser, instantely killing him or her." Raiko read. His hands was now shaking and he dropped the paper. "I don't believe it... I don't think Valian is such a person who would do something like these things..."

"I think you should go there..." Shizuka said, quietly.

"Yes, he needs my support. Even if he's guilty for this I don't think that anyone deserves to die... But..." He stopped and looked down. "What about that other criminal?"

Shizuka placed her hand on his shoulder.

"If Valian is not guilty, then there's on major difference between the two, isn't it?" She then said. Raiko looked at her.

"Anyway, I have to go then..."

Later, he arrived at a big building. The building had a big gate, with a sign saying "Security" over it.

"This should be it." He said to himself and entered. He was now in a lobby. There was not amny people, except for a man sitting on a couch, and a woman behind the desk. Raiko walked up to her.

"Excuse me, but where is the location where the Judgment Duel will be hold?" He asked and tried to smile.

"It's throught that hallway and to the left, you can't miss it." The woman pointed towards a door leading to a hallway. Raiko went there, and at the end of the hallway there was a door to the left which he entered. He was now at some kind of spectator zone, and underneath there was a duel arena. On one side of the arena, Valian was standing, armed with his duel disk which was connected to the robotic suit he was wearing. He looked serious, just staring at his opponent. His opponent was a big, muscular man, He was too wearing a robotic suit connected to his Duel Disk. He was wearing a mask, so the face could not be seen, but long, black hair could be seen. He was notably taller then Valian. Raiko looked around and saw that several chairs, around eight or so, was placed for the selected few that was to watch the duel. Two of the chairs was occupied, one by Hikari Naoki, the daughter of Kuroda, and the other by a tall man with short, red hair. He had a serious look on his face, and he was wearing a black tuxedo. Raiko placed himself next to Hikari, who looked at him.

"Hi..." She said quietly. "You're Raiko Skyer, aren't you?"

"Yea... Or at least that's what I'm called..." He answered. "Who is that other guy?"

Hikari looked as if she was about to answer when another voice was heard across the room. It was a hoarse male voice.

"Welcome, everyone! My name is Damond Rudgeweiler, the commander of Security. We've ensembled here to watch as the two duelists, Valian Jackson and an unknown man who refuses to tell us his real name, is about to duel to death in what we call a Judgement Duel. The loser will pay with his or her life, while the winner will have to stay for one year in the detention center." The voice stopped, and Valian raised his duel disk. The opponent saw this and did the same. "Let the duel begin!"

"Duel!" Valian and the opponent said in chorus.

"Since he didn't want to tell us his real name we call him The Forsaken, he's a mysterious individual indeed." Hikari told Raiko, who was concentrating on the duel, but looked at her when she said that.

Doesn't Security have some sort of DNA check they could've used?

"I will begin! Draw!" The Forsaken said as he drew his sixth card. "I will start your demise by activating Snake Rain!" A spell card appeared in front of him. "Now, I discard one card from my hand to send up to four Reptiles from my deck to the Graveyard." The Forsaken took his deck out of his deck space, and selected four cards and placed them in his graveyard. He then put his deck back. "I also summon Gene-Warped Warwolf to my side of the field." (2000/100) A sort of man-beast appeared on the field, it had four arms sporting red claws, and it's face was covered by a mask. "Your move!"

"About time!" Valian shouted. "Draw!" He drew a card and looked at it. A terryfying expression spread on his face. Raiko saw that Hikari smiled next to him, and giggled a little.

"What is it?" Raiko asked.

"We exchanged most of that murderers deck with low-level useless monsters!" Hikari replied and smiled. "This way we are sure taht he won't survive this!"

"I don't really think Valian did anything of the things he's sentenced for..." Raiko started, but an angry stare from Hikari made him shut up.

Come on, Valian! You're the King for God's sake, you can do it!

"I summon Sonic Chick in Defense Position!" (300/300) Valian said as a pink chicken appeared next to him, but then turned grey. "I will also set a card face-down to end my turn!" Valian once again had the serious look on his face.

"My turn again then! Draw!" The Forsaken looked at his hand and chuckled. "You are dead now, Jackson! I activate Synthesis Spell!"

"What!? A Ritual Spell card!?" Valian looked surprised as the card appeared.

"Yes, and now by sending monsters with a Level equal to six from my hand or field to the Graveyard!" The Forsaken said, and a big research tube appeared. Inside there was green liquid and a human body. The Forsaken sent a card from his hand to the grave, and Gene-Warped Warwolf started to disappear aswell. The human inside the tube started transforming, and the tube exploded releasing a green cloud. When teh cloud faded a big humanoid wolf could be seen. The wolf had grey fur, and it was wearing blue shorts. "This... Is Lycanthrope!" (2400/1800)

"What is this? Some sort of Furry convention!?" Valian yelled and started to sweat. The Forsaken ignored the joke.

"I also activate the Spell card Stop Defense. This will change your Sonic Chick to attack mode!" He said. The now grey chicken once again turned pink and let out a cute noise. "Lycanthrope! Attack his monster!"

The wolf leaped up in the air and slashed the chicken, it didn't destroy it, but Valian still lost life points.

Valian: 4000 --> 1900

"Lycanthrope's effect! You lose 200 life points for each normal monster in my graveyard!" The Forsaken said and let out a dark laugh.

"What the --!?" Valian shielded his face as the wolf slahed him in the face.

Valian: 1900 --> 700

"I... I activate the Trap card Effective Plan! When I take effec dmage, I can search my deck for monsters with a total attack equal to the ammount of damage I took!" He pulled his deck out of it's place and looked through it. His face changed to an angry look when he saw all the cards that had been exchanged. He finally selcted two cards and placed them in his hand.

"That concludes my turn..." The Forsaken said.

"Draw!" Valian drew a card and looked at his hand. "I'll set a card face-down and end my turn!"

"Hahaha!" The Forsaken laughed. "I will end you this turn! Draw!" He looked at his card. "I'll just end you directly! Lycanthrope! Attack his Chick again!"

"Not so fast!" Valian shouted as his latest face-down was flipped face-up. It showed a little boy fighting back two big bullies on the picture. "This card is called Honorable Sacrifice! It can only be activated when an attack position Level 2 monster I control is attacked, and by tributing that card I can destroy all attack position cards on your side of the field!" The pink chicken started to glow, and then flew in a very high speed at the wolf and finally crashed, destroying it. Surprisingly, The Forsaken started to laugh at this event.

"You fool! When a Lycanthrpe I control is destroyed by a card effect I can Special Summon this from my hand! Wolf-King Lycanos!" (2400/1800)

Valian grunted, but stood fast as the gigantic wolf appeared.

"This guys gains an additional 200 attack for each Normal monster in my grave!" The Forsaken said, and the wolf began to grow.

(2400-->3600)

"Lycanos! Attack his chicken and finnish him!" The Forsaken pointed at Valian. "ATTACK!!"

The wolf attacked the chicken, but suddenly a fluffball appeared and deflected the attack.

"What the!?"

"This is one of the cards I added to my hand by Effective Plan's effect! Kuriboh!" Valian smiled and revealed the card in his hand. "By discarding this card to the Graveyard..." He placed the card in the Graveyard. "...I can negate any damage dealt to me during this turn."

"Humph! You may have survived this turn, but you won't survive the next one!" The Forsaken yelled, and the turn went to Valian.

Come one Valian, you can do it! Raiko thought and watched as Valian drew his card. As he looked on it he smiled.

To be continued...

[spoiler=Note]Hope you enjoyed it. The chapter would have been too long if I included the whole duel.

[spoiler=Chapter 5: The Final Move!? Valian VS The Forsaken (Part 2)]

The field was empty, except for the big wolf monster. With Valian, with a mere 700 life points left, facing The Forsaken, who was still on a solid 4000.

"No card you drew can stop my Lycanos from winning me the duel!" The Forsaken yelled at Valian.

"It's true that this card won't win me the duel, but it will surely help me with succeeding that goal!" Valian said and held the card up. "I will summon Sangan in defense position!" (1000/600) As he played the card a pelted monster sporting three eyes appeared. It had green arms and legs, with a big mouth on the face. "I will then end my turn!"

"That weak monster won't stop my monster from destroying you and ending your life!" The Forsaken said and made ready to draw.

"Hey, you!" Valian shouted. "This may not be my real deck, but I'll show you, and them..." He turned his head towards Hikari, who had a grin on her face. This was also the first time that Valian noticed Raiko, and seeing him made Valian smile.

"I know you can win, Valian!" Raiko cheered. Hikari hit him in the stomach with her elbow, and Raiko held his arms on it, but kept smiling towards Valian, who did a thumb-up towards Raiko. He then turned back to The Forsaken.

"I'll show you all that the King can win with any cards given to him!" He said. "Make your move!"

"I was about to! Draw!" The Forsaken drew his card and without looking at it he pointed at Valian. "Your strategies won't work towards the raw strength of Lycanos! Attack!"

The wolf raised his claws and attacked Sangan, who was immediately destroyed.

"Sangan's monster effect activates!" Valian said. "It let's me move a monster with 1500 attack or less from my deck to my hand!"

Suddenly, Valian's deck ejected a faint light, and Valian placed his hand on the deck.

"This... is the Kings glory!" He then drew the top card of his deck, as if he knew that it was the card he needed. Without looking at it himself he revealed it to the crowd and the opponent.

"What!?" The Forsaken sounded scared for the first time.

"Th- That card was not supposed to be in his deck!" Hikari raised from her chair and an angry expression covered her face.

Raiko was too very surprised at the card. The monster that was in Valain's hand was nothing less then his ace, Fusion Force Dragon!

"Forsaken! End him directly!"

Then The Forsaken did something very surprisingly. He turned towards Hikari and bowed to her order.

"As you say, milady!" He said and then turned back to Valian. "As for you! I set a card face-down and end my turn!"

"Draw!" Valian drew a card and looked at it. "I will now show you what I think about your raw strength! I summon Fusion Force Dragon!" (1500/1000) The big, blue dragon appeared and roared at The Forsaken's wolf-monster. "Monster effect! I get to add a Polymerization card to my hand!" Valian pulled his deck out of the deck spot and then selected a card and revealed it. "I add Super Polymerization to my hand!"

"What? Isn't that the card that..." The Forsaken started, but stopped when he saw Valian's grin.

"I activate it right away!" Valian said and a holographic spell card appeared on the field. "Now, I discard one card from my hand to fuse my Fusion Force Dragon with your Lycanos!"

A whirl appeared in the middle of the field and dragged both Fusion Force Dragon and Lycanos into it.

"Way to g..." Raiko started but was once again elbowed in the stomach by Hikari. "You're going to kill me if you keep doing that!" Hikari ignored him and kept watching the duel.

"By fusing Fusion Force Dragon with a Beast or Beast-Warrior, I can create the Nighthowl Dragon!" (2400/1800) Valian shouted as his dragon appeared. It was big, and it's back was covered by black fur, aswella s it's head. It's eyes was glowing red, and it had great fangs. It's wings looked like if they was taken directly of a bat, with skin instead of scales.

"Heh..." The Forsaken raised his hand as his face-down was flipped face-up. "I expected something like this, and prepared this card for it! I activate Death Howl! When a Level 8 or higher Beast or Beast-Warrior on my side of the field is sent to the Graveyard, I can special summon a Level 6 or lower Beast or Beast-Warrior from my Graveyard!"

The ground opened as a howl could be heard. Out of the hole Lycanthrope climbed. (2400/1800)

"Hah! You made my job much easier now!" Valian showed a card in his hand. "This card is called Dragonstorm!"

His Nighthowl Dragon started to glow in a mystical, crimson light.

"Dragonstorm is an Equip Spell card that can only be equipped to a Fusion Dragon-type monster, and it increases the monsters attack by 600!"

Nighthowl Dragon let out a howling sound as it's attack increased.

(2400-->3000)

"Also, I activate Nighthowl's special effect!" Valian placed two cards from his hand in the graveyard. "I can decrease an opponents monsters attack by 200 for each card I discard! Furious Howl!" Once again Nighthowl howled at the wolf, who's attack was decreased.

(2400-->2000)

"Nighthowl Dragon! Attack Lycanthrope!" Valian pointed at Lycanthrope as Nighthowl leaped into the air and bit the wolf in it's shoulder.

"What!?" The Forsaken yelled as his monster was destroyed.

The Forsaken: 4000 --> 3000

"But I'm still the... What the!"

The Forsaken: 3000 --> 600

"How?" The Forsaken asked and looked at his Duel Disk, showing his life points.

"Dragonstorm's other effect." Valian said. "When the equipped monster destroys a monster by battle, you lose life equal to the destroyed monsters original attack points!"

"Oh no!" The Forsaken was shaking.

"I end my turn!" Valian pointed at The Forsaken. "Even though you changed my deck, I will still win!"

"I- I draw..." The Forsaken said and drew a card. He then looked at Hikari. "I- I am sorry, milady..." He turned back to Valian. "I end my turn."

"What!?" Hikari and Raiko was shocked. Hikari now stood up. "You stupid bastard! I thought you would win!"

Raiko, however, was a lot happier.

"Yes! Valian, now finish him!"

Valian didn't respond, he just stared at The Forsaken.

"I draw..." He slowly drew a card. "Hey you!" He looked at The Forsaken. "I don't want to do this, I would never hurt a human, and absolutely not kill one! But! If I don't do this my own life would be in danger!"

"Do it!" The Forsaken yelled. His voice had changed significally, instead of being deep and dark it was now lighter, but it soon turned dark again. "Finish me!"

"Hm..?" Valian looked at his opponent. "The King always carries out the wishes of his opponent, if it's possible! Nighthowl Dragon! Attack him directly!"

The dragon leaped up in the air and prepared to attack The Forsaken, when suddenly the lights went out and everything turned dark.

"What is this?" A voice yelled. Raiko didn't recognise it, but he guessed it belonged to the red-haired guy who was sitting next to Hikari.

Suddenly the lights returned, and the red-haired guy was standing up. Hikari was still sitting down, silent. Raiko ahd raised from his chair and looked at the duel field. Valian and his monsters was gone, but where The Forsaken had stood an humanoid robot was lying face-down to the floor.

"What happend to Val-" Raiko started, but hew as interrupted as someone grabbed his shoulder. He turned around and saw a Security Officer.

"Come with me please!" The officer said to Raiko and the others. They followed the man out of the room and finally reached a dark room. The walls was outlined with screens showing different sections of the city, and in the middle of the room was a chair with a man sitting in it. He looked fairly young, with long, white hair, wearing balck clothes as well as a red scarf. His eyes was completely light blue.

"Hey, aren't you the one from the Fortune Cup?" Raiko asked, as he recognised the man as one of the three who talked to him after the D-Wheel crash.

The man stood up, he looked to be as old as Raiko, in fact they had the same length and body figures. He walked up to the group, and as he talked Raiko recognised his voice as Damond Ridgeweiler.

"Yes, I was..." He said with his hoarse voice. He looked a lot more serious then what he did at the Fortune Cup. "My name is, as you should now, Damond Ridgeweiler, and I'm the Chief Officer of Security."

"What happend at the arena?" The red-haired guy asked.

"We shut the power down, so that we could stop the attack on one of our best Dueling Roids." Damond turned his head, looking at one of the screens, showing the duel arena with the robot on the ground. "However, we didn't do it in time and it was killed by the electric shock."

"B-but... Does that mean Valian was fighting a machine?" Raiko asked. "With no real chance of winning?"

"That's right, boy!" Damond said and grinned.

"Don't call me boy! We're at the same age, I think..." Raiko said.

"You are right, Raiko." Damond smiled. "Anyway, when we shut the power down, Valian was quick enough to escape us, and he quickly got to his confiscated D-Wheel and escaped."

"That's only right! I don't think he did anything of the things he was sentenced for!" Raiko sounded a bit angry now.

"Heh... He did do those things, and he also knew too much about... Anyway!" Damond quickly turned away from the screen and looked Raiko into his eyes. A chill was sent through Raiko's spine at the sight of Damond's empty eyes. "If anyone of you would see Valian I demand you to report it to the closest Security Officer! Now..." He looked at the Security Officer who had led them there. "Take the boy and Mr Eruesdale away, I'll have to talk to Ms Naoki."

"Yes, sir!" The Officer saluted and grabbed Raiko's shoulder and lead him and the man out of the room.

"Can you stop grabbing my shoulder all the time?" Raiko asked. The officer lifted his grip.

"You should be able to find your way out of this on your own." The officer said and walked away.

"Then I'll say goodbye." Mr Erusedale said. "Raiko, right?"

"Yes." Raiko said as Erusedale sarted to walk away. "Hey, wait!"

"What?" Erusedale turned around. "What is it?"

"Do you know what Damond meant by Valian knowing too much?" Raiko asked.

At first Erusedale was quiet, as if he was thinking about something.

"No." He simply said. "It's probably something only concerning Security. You should go home, it's getting late..." Erusedale once again turned around and started to walk.
