False. I have friends who are atheist and simply don't see the logic behind God. That's why they refuse to believe it. But they respect that I'm a Christian, so it's all good.

Atheist I believe in science so I think something can only exist if there's proof I belive aliens exist there's a scratch of proof I believe but I don't find there's evidence for the existence of god. So yeah Atheist.

If the world were to end (in a sense of destruction, and no life) in 2012, just like a boat coming into the horizon, then finally leaving, the world would end in the exact opposite way the world was created, according to the bible. I am neither. Christianity and Atheism are both an aspect of life that I would wish to ignore. Buddism, on the other hand, kinda scares me.

 

Atheist I believe in science so I think something can only exist if there's proof I belive aliens exist there's a scratch of proof I believe but I don't find there's evidence for the existence of god. So yeah Atheist.

 

Why does everyone think Religion = God? God is a part of religion. Sure, disproving it would make religion collaspe, but it isn't religion itself.

 

Even though there are no facts to suport God, there are no facts to support the fact that God does not exist. So, factual people should really think twice about God.

Deep down, I think religion in general was made by man in order to explain phenomenon that they couldn't understand. The Bible has been proven wrong, Earth being 4.6 billion years old. Yes, there are flaws in Evolution, but it is a theory, not a absolute truth.

I have one statement for all y'all: atheist in Catholic school.

 

He is smart, and his [religious] parents hate public schools.

I used to be really skeptical to the point where I was almost an atheist. But once I actually started praying for things to happen, and it happened, I believe in God with all my heart and soul. No doubt in my mind. He just gives you what you prayed for, in the opposite way of how you asked for it. Kinda like a genie. But still. I am a Christian.

I've been at that point, and felt as though God was pushing me aside, when the entire time, it wasn't me walking on my own, it was God carrying me. God brings you into a storm, and he'll bring you out of it. God makes everything happen for a reason, the good and the bad. He may not come when you want him, but he'll be there right on time.

Or is it that you are actually praying for the opposite of what you believe you are praying for and God is answering exactly what you are truly praying for?

As for the rest there are religions where gods don't exist or play any important role.

Theravada Buddhism or LaVeyan Satanism for example.

(Or Christian Atheists but I'll probably get shot in a few minutes for saying that on YCM.)

And when things start going wrong there's no god anymore?

Well about praying for stuff, I simply don't do it.

If anything I say thankful prayers. Because I simply can't imagine how a god would try to satisfy everyone's wishes. It's already hard enough to keep the balance of the world intact.<3

I'd rather agree with that one but... yeah I still don't pray for stuff.

Just personal ideology I guess.

 

Also I finally voted in the poll.

Considered myself a Christian Deist for a while since I do follow Jesus teachings to some extent as well as some others. I've been told that it's wrong for me to say that since I only believe into the moral stances Jesus taught people and not the entire stuff around (heaven or hell, praying, etc.) but I guess it still gets closer to that than Atheism.

Haha that's me. Except my parents aren't that religious.

 

Also, at the talk about prayer. This is my issue with it. More people pray for celebrities. Why? More people know they exist. This doesn't necessarily degrade the genuinity of the prayers. Many people really want to help others, etc. etc.

 

God answers our prayers, even if not necessarily in the way we expect.

 

So God likes famous people?

 

Pause and think about that for a moment.

 

Prayer should be viewed, I think, solely as communication between you and God about YOUR relationship with God. You don't ask God to stop world suffering. That's stupid. It's not happening. Ask God to keep you mindful of the suffering of this world so you can do your best to attempt to ease it? I think that's a whole lot more constructive.
