But the ever-existent idea of uncertainty means that to say something is absolutely true isn't the correct stance to take. You can firmly believe in something, but in the end being Agnostic seems like the sensible standpoint. If we're going by what you believe to be so I's either be an atheist, but perhaps even then I would be agnostic. In my opinion, the sensible standpoint is definitely atheism. But people have their opinions, and I respect and understand your beliefs more than I do anyone of any ancient religion, or any deistic religion. Therefore atheism as a theoretical position is stupid. However, keep in mind that this same concept justifies the possible existence of flying spaghetti monsters, mutant potatoes with a vendetta, and unicorns. So it's pretty sensible to surmise that a god or gods does not exist. This being said, the possibility of such an existence must be admitted. Thus agnosticism. An argument on the internet, if it's actually good, could most definitely convince people. However, many people just say someone's being close-minded or some such when they aren't convincing them and act like open-minded = easily swayed, and use that as justification for their victory.
