Okay, so what would you say is the best album of the year? And by this year, I mean from Oct. 2008- Now, since that would include some good albums released last year.

By the Way, here are the bestsellers for this year....any thoughts?

Black Eyed Peas-The E.N.D

Owl City-Ocean Eyes

Paramore-Brand New Eyes

Greenday-21st Century Breakdown

Lady Gaga-The Fame/The Fame Monster

JayZ-The Blueprint 3

Taylor Swift- Fearless

**I know its mainstream, but guess what sells?

So I was about to quote your post' date=' saying something witty about how all those albums suck, but then I saw:

Thread lacks good music.

I then nodded and made this post.

But Twistie...

Green Day D:

I bought it, but I can only sit through 1, maybe 2 tracks at best.

Really?

I thought that the new album was a huge improvement from American Idiot

Linkin Park doesn't have a new album out. "New Divide" is a song from the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Soundtrack (which they helped make).

Anyway, the only really good artists on here are Green Day (epic), Paramore, and Linkin Park (however, I really only like their earlier stuff). Everybody else is suckish or I never heard of them.

All three of those bands suck bad, at least listen to REAL post punk, not this over-commercial music, and the music itself sucks.

Here's my personal top 5 if anyone cares...

(could post more, but I'm lazy.)

5. Them Crooked Vultures - Them Crooked Vultures (that album isn't even out yet and I know it's going to rule)

4. Mastodon - Crack the Skye

3. Sonic Youth - The Enternal

2. Pearl Jam - Backspacer

1. Placebo - Battle for the Sun

Topic own'd.

"East Jesus Nowhere" & "Horseshoes and Handgrenades".

"The Last of the American Girls" made me D"x

Hmmph... none.

Even my reliables (Procol Harum' date=' Yo La Tengo, Pearl Jam, etc.) died a horrid death this year.

[/quote']

I disagree. I think Pearl Jam put out a great album, my problem is that they brought down the flow of the record by having 2 very boring slow songs, but a solid release none the less.

I haven't heard anything new of Yo La Tengo, but I'm convinced I'm not going to like it better than "May I Sing with Me" or "Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out".

Procol Harum had something new out?

Thewho:

Two, if we include the other released late last year: One Eye to the Future, and Procol Harum - In Concert..., respectively. (The first was download-only, and the second's essentially a greatest-hits album, and I hate those kind of albums.)

Yo La Tengo released Popular Songs this year. (Same difference.)

Backspacer? Radio-friendly garbage, with insipid lyrics barely handled by the (I admit) excellent musicianship.

aw man! Greatest Hits? Concert album? Any new tracks on those

I'll look up the new Yo La Tengo stuff later, but I'm covinced I'm not going to like it as much as their other stuff...

Pearl Jam deserves to have a little fun after all the brooding they did on their last record (you know, like dressing up Devo-style in Halloween lol). After all the political stuff they did on the last one, some hooks and fast songs wouldn't hurt, right? It's just a matter left to opinion.

Thewho:

Procol Harum? I think they've got some new tracks on both albums, though I couldn't be bothered right now to say their titles.

Never mind about my brooding over Backspacer - it comes from one who thinks they've only made good piles of music - and sometimes rotten piles of sheet - instead of cohesive albums - since Ten.

lol now that you mention it...

What was their second album called? "Not as Good as Ten"?

Pearl Jam really has the "hit or miss" thing going on. They sometimes make great records, and sometimes make "rotten piles of s***"...

It really comes down to the music taste of the person. I'm not a really big fan of Ten, but I really liked Vs. and No Code.
