Ephraim stepped outside. The older students were fighting so he figured he'd come in when he was called. He wasn't sure he wanted what the teacher did to the older students to happen to him. He hardly knew how his transformation worked in the first place. He noticed the girl who had run out earlier. She was holding a deck of cards. Deciding to try and talk he walked over to her.

"Are you okay?" He asked nervously. "Something seemed to be bothering you in there." He said to the girl.

"What?" He was slightly puzzled at her actions.

"Well, if you're fine." Ephraim said as he drew a card. He looked at it but it meant nothing special to him; he had no idea how to read tarot cards. He handed the card he drew to the girl.

"I guess you could say that. So you read tarot cards?" He asked rhetorically.

"I've heard about them but I've never seen anyone accurately read them. You've got a rare talent? Could I ask your name? I'm Ephraim." He politely asked the girl.

"Nice to meet you Hesperus." he said. Her stare was nothing like others. It was like she wasn't just looking at you, but almost through you. What could she be looking for with that stare? Ephraim began to wonder what else she knew.

"So, have you been here long? The Academy I mean." he asked.

"Sounds like an interesting life. A life a lot of people would envy. Being able to go wherever whenever. I could never do it though." Ephraim said. He wondered how accurate her fortune really was. In a physical sense he was quite strong. But he didn't feel like he was a strong person. His hesitation in speaking to people alone proved that. But that's why he was here, to try and fix that.

"Why can't you?" Hesperus said, continuing to spin, ignoring the laws of force and dizzyness, apparently.

"Anyone can do it, it take just a slight push in the right direction. You get to see all the wonders of this word in it's entirety. And you meet all kinds of new people..."

She finally fell down from the overwhelming dizzyness. "That's the way the world goes 'round. Life is one big tarot deck for me, y'know?"

Ephraim smiled a bit, that was rare for him recently.

"I like the way you look at life. You make everything seem so simple. And it probably is, I just don't let it be." Ephraim said.

"Thanks, Hesperus. I think I'll try to apply that attitude to my life." Ephraim said.

Ephraim went over to the card.

"She must of dropped it." Ephraim thought. He looked around to see if she was still around. She was already gone. He picked it up. The illustration was quite an intricate design but again he couldn't make sense of it. He decided to hold onto it until she got back. She'd have to come back to the dojo at some point anyway.

Arakk had grown bored at the fight and left, and he had instead evesdropped on the talk between Hesperus and Ephraim.

Can this be... A worthy opponent? He thought as he looked at Ephraim from atop the building. He began climbing down the wall against the man, slowly and quietly.
