I was just thinking. YCMaker could be making some serious money from this site. Here are my Ideas;

 

*Core*:People can get Subscriptions on this site. Very cheap.. Maybe $5 using Paypal / Direct payment as the method.

 

 

Premium Sections: Maybe have a Premium section where only the Subscribers are able to access and post. This in my Opinion would be a Spam Free place becuase only people who care about the site would subscribe.

 

 

Cardmaker: Non-Subscribers would have the 'lite' Cardmaker which would offer just about everything it has now. While Subscribers would get Access to Early Updates, Beta Tests, And Extra Functions lets say, 1 month earliar than Non-Subscribers. They would also have some extra functions in the cardmaker exclusive to subscribers.

 

 

Reputation: Non-Subscribers would not have the ability to Give Negative reps. They can only give 3 +REPS per day. This would for one, stop some careless people giving negs. Subscribers would be able to give 3 Negs per day and a Seperate 3 Positives per day. Subscriber and Non-Subscriber can give an unlimited amount of Neutral Reps per day.

 

 

Special Abilities: Non-Subscribers would be taken of the ability to change their User Titles. Subscribers would have the ability to Change own Username, Change User Title, Lock / Delete own Threads & Posts.

 

 

Profile: Subscribers would have an extra 400 Characters allowed to their Signature and an Extra Image can be added to it. Subscribers Avatars can be a Max of 100x100 as Normal Members would have a Max. of 80x80. Subscribers have a small image under their avatar or an award added to their award count for subscribing.

 

 

That's all I have in my brain for now... Any Other Ideas. Im just emptying my mind. I knoe he already makes money... from google and all that. But anyway. Let me know what you think of this.

 

 

All Plugins he will need are Located at MyBB Central.. which he is a subscriber at already so its no problem doing any of the things listed above.

3- hmm. I have been to forums and children have subscribed for prices of $20. and anyone over 13 can get a Prepaid Visa thingy. Gift cards also work. Other methods of payment.. Send off the money via, Mail Order. So yeah... A lot of kids would pay for it.. and most Active people who post on this site are over the age of 13.

3- It's a children's forum, most kids wouldn't have the money to fork over to get the premium membership, and most parents wouldn't pay for it.

Its not paying money to use the site.. people can still use the site for free... subscribers just have more features.

Your Vhoice.. you dont have to.. and its only $5... which is not a lot at all IMO.

 

I'd rather not spend money on something I currently use for free. I'm not made of money you know. (In our household 3/4 are on JSA)

 

You are not forced to subscribe as said above. Its 100% your choice.. its just if you want the extra features.. and $5 is not going to drive you bankrupt...

So far' date=' so good. Getting subscriptions would be a good way for people with some spare cash to donate stuff.[/b']

Unfortunately, this is a significant turn for the worse. Many 5 and 6 star people who are far worse spammers than some of the newbies might get in, and it would be no better than the rest of the forum. It would also make them less active on the main forums. It's also pretty hefty elitism and some people would probably turn into jerks if they got it.

I have mixed feelings about this section. I disagree with extra features - it damages the sharing features of the site and promotes even more elitism. Calling the current card maker "lite" also means people might get the idea that it's lightweight / faster, which is misleading. However, I do agree that subscribers should get access to beta testing if they want to. It would help speed up adding new features that might be more advanced to the card maker without long testing or public beta periods.

Firstly, this completely ruins the idea of negative reps. It's supposed to be their actual reputation, meaning a spammer would have a lot of negs and would be easily recognized, and promote them to be more aware and careful about what they post. The unlimited neutral reps idea would promote spamming as well.

People should be able to change their user title, and there is absolutely no reason you can give against it. Subscribers being able to change their user name and lock their own threads should be fine, as these powers wouldn't really be easily abused. However, I disagree with deleting threads as that would remove post count / etc, and make it impossible for people to possibly find something they posted in that thread.

Limiting the avatar sizes is silly. The avatar size should really be the highest that it could reasonably be without damaging the appearance of the site. I think that all members should have a larger sig space, as it gets especially annoying if people want to put quotes in their sig. However giving subscribers an award is a good idea as it would make them instantly recognisable and not really negatively inflict anyone else.
