Zexaeon
So, seeing as how HgSs is to be released sometime in the near future, I thought I'd go ahead and give DPP a nice kiss-off. So I'm doing this tournament thing. Check it out, here's how it's gonna go down.
Each entrant is to raise up five different teams of Pokemon. Depending on your viewpoint of the scoring, and your faith in your own skill (read below), you may not find it necessary to put a whole lot of effort into all five of these teams, but that is how many you'll be using. You must have one of each of the following teams: NFE - A Non-Fully Evolved Team. This means that you are only allowed to use Pokemon that are in their first Stage of Evolution. Single-Stage Pokemon that do not evolve are prohibited. If there is an exceptionally weak Single-Stage you think can pass for a NFE, bring it to my attention and I may consider it.The use of Egg Moves and TMs is perfectly acceptable for NFE Pokemon. However, you may not give your NFE a move that it could only possibly learn by evolving at a later level. This is hacking a non-legitimate move, and will get you disqualified if it is reported. Specific NFE Pokemon are prohibited when equipped with certain items. These Pokemon include: Pikachu (banned with Light Ball)Clampearl (Banned with either DeepSea Item)Cubone (Banned with Thick Club) The Following Pokemon are Banned regardless of Item: TrapinchChanseyScytherSneaselYanmaMurkrowTangelaMeditite In addition, any pokemon that is within its first stage of Evolution, but still qualifies for the UU Tier (one such example being Scyther) is not permissable for entry. If I'm forgetting anyone, please remind me. NU - A Never Used Team. This means that you may only use Pokemon that fall into the NU tier, and may also include NFE Pokemon if you truly wish. UU - An Underused Team. The Pokemon in this team can only be from the UU Tier, or lower. So long as they are not BL or above, there are no restrictions to the team you build here. Any use of of a Pokemon of a higher tier will result in disqualification if reported. OU - An Overused, or Standard Team. This Team can be comprised of any Pokemon, save for those in the Uber Tier. Any Ubers are grounds for disqualification. Uber - An Uber Team. All Pokemon are accessible for this team, without exception.
During the course of this tournament, the following Clauses shall be in effect: Species Clause - No more than one Pokemon of an evolutionary chain can exist on your team at the same time. In other words, you cannot use Two Charizards, nor can you use a Charizard and a Charmillion. Only ONE. Sleep Clause - No more than one pokemon can be sleep at the same time on a Team. As it is impossible to enforce this rule over DS Wifi, you must simply avoid using any sleep-inducing moves on your opponent if one member of their team has already been put to sleep. If you deliberately do this, it can be reported and will result in a deduction to your score, as well as a complete rematch of the battle.Exceptions: If one of the foe's Pokemon was put to sleep by Rest, you are still free to put a different Pokemon to sleep. If one of your Pokemon is asleep and uses Sleep Talk to select a Sleep-Inducing Move while one of your opponent's Pokemon is asleep, it will not be held against you. Namely becuase if you have Sleep Talk and hypnosis (or something) on the same set (likely accompanied with rest), then there's something wrong with you. Freeze Clause - Circumstantial Clause. There is no way of enforcing this clause. However, if you put one foe into a state of Freezing, and then put ANOTHER foe into freezing unintentionally, it would be a very nice gesture if you could continue to switch your tam around until the foe is defrosted. If both you and your opponent agree to this courtesy rule beforehand, it is advised that you both keep switching until the frozen Pokemon has been defrosted, and then resume the battle. If you and your opponent agree to this courtesy beforehand, TELL ME. This is because if you agree, but then one of you does not honor the agreement should it happen, it can be reported and the violator will suffer a deduction in Points. Item Clause - Circumstantial Clause. This clause will only be in effect for the NFE and NU battles. UU, OU, and Uber battles are free from this clause. Luck Clause - The items Quick Claw and Focus band are both banned from this competition. If I receive enough requests for it, Scope Lens will also be banned.
Once the Tournament has started, every participant will be free to challenge one another during each round, using whatever team is to be used for that round. For example, Dark, Felix, and Flame Dragon all enter. The first round is the NFE round. During the time period that this round goes on for, the three of them are free to challenge one another as many times as they wish. Likewise, they can refuse a challenge if they see fit. After each battle, it will be reported who was the winner and Loser, or if there was a draw. Scoring will then be decided based on the current round and the number of remaining Pokemon the victor had. At the end of each round, if there are enough remaining players, the player with the lowest score will be dropped from the competition. The Player with the highest score by the final round is the Winner of the Tournament.
It is strongly encouraged for you to battle often during the course of every round in order to boost your score. However, there is a limit to how many times you can battle during each round, depending on your score. Round 1 NFE - During this round, you may challenge and battle other players as many times as you wish. If, however, you claim five victories, you can no longer battle. Bear in mind that you are free to refuse challenges, so if someone is on a point-scoring streak, you are not in any way obligated to battle with them. HOWEVER, it is also unacceptable to "Gang up and Refuse" one particular player in order to prevent them from scoring at all. In order to combat this, each competitor will be given a BATTLE QUOTA to meet, based on the number of players in the Competition. You will be obligated to fight at least this number of battles during a specific round. Anyone who does not meet their quota of battles will suffer a point deduction. If you did not meet your quota due to a large number of challenge refusals, and can provide evidence of these refusals, you will be compensated with a score bonus. Round 2 NU - If you claim four Victories, you are no longer allowed to battle. Round 3 UU - If you claim 3 Victories, you are no longer allowed to battle. Round 4 OU - If you claim 2 Victories, you are no longer allowed to battle. Round 5 Uber - You can only battle any single player left in the competition once, but are not limited by how many victories you may obtain. Each round will last for anywhere from five-three days, depending on the number of active participants in the competition. Once a round has ended, you can no longer gain points for that round or use that round's team in the contest.
Scoring varies from round to round, and is affected by various factors. They are as follows: NFE - During this round, you will receive 2 points for every Victory, with an additional 4 points being awarded for each remaining Pokemon on your team at the time of the Victory.A Draw will award both players 5 points.A loss will result in the loss of 5 points. NU - During this round, you will receive 5 points for every Victory, with an additional 4 Points being awarded for each remaining Pokemon on your team at the time of the Victory.A Draw will award both players 7 points.A loss will result in the loss of 5 points. UU - During this round, you will receive 7 points for every Victory, with an additional 5 Points being awarded for each remaining Pokemon on your team at the time of the Victory.A Draw will award both players 10 points.A loss will result in the loss of 10 points. OU - During this round, you will receive 15 points for every Victory, with an additional 5 Points being awarded for each remaining Pokemon on your team at the time of the Victory.A Draw will award both players 10 points.A loss will result in the loss of 20 points. Uber - During this round, you will receive 20 points for every Victory, with an additional 10 Points being awarded for each remaining Pokemon on your team at the time of the Victory.A Draw will award both players 0 points.A loss will result in the loss of 30 points. Failure to meet your Battle Quota, unless in the conditions previously mentioned, will result in a loss of points equal to the number of Battles Short you are X the number of points awarded for Victory during that round. Score Penalties for Violations will be decided by me, based on the severity of the offense. Score Bonuses will also be awarded to those victimized by Gang Up Refusal, and will also be decided by me.
Due to how many teams are necessary for this Tournament, and how long it may take to get enough willing participants, I am providing a Month-long Grace Period to prepare. The Tournament's First round shall begin: November 7, 2009 If by then, insufficient Entries are afoot, the time period may be extended if there is enough interest, or this contest may be discarded if not enough people care. However, I can likely make due with three or four people.
If you are reported doing any of the following, you will be disqualified immediately: -Violating any of the Clauses Deliberately--Using Hacked Pokemon--Using Pokemon that are beyond the Tier for the current Round--Recklessly Flaming other participants--Refusing to Battle Anyone (Duh)-
The following is a List of prizes awarded to the winners of the Tournament. Fourth Prize is a Rep from Zexy, commending your effort, loser. Third Prize is a duo Rep from Zex. Maybe they'll keep you warm while you cry yourself to sleep, Mr. Third. Second Place gets a legitimate Deoxys, Darkrai, or Arceus, pre-trained to your liking. FIRST PLACE GETS THEIR CHOICE OF ANY PRE-TRAINED, CUSTOM-ORDERED POKEMON IN EXISTENCE FROM ZEX. AS IF YOU NEEDED IT, YOU POKE-MASTER, YOU.
To Enter this competition, simply post that you would like to. To prove that you read the rules, please also include a Spoiler in your post with an excerpt from the above rules pasted inside (it can be any excerpt)
1. Zexaeon2. Felix3. JG.
Question: Are you allowed to use an AR as long as the pokemon are still legal? If so, I may consider entering.
Zexaeon
Smogon URL has been corrected. And yes, you may use an AR to enter with LEGAL stats and movesets. The Term hacked in this context only applies to pokemon that illegal stats or moves.
Felix
For the NFE one, you should ban anything that fits into the UU tier list. Scizor for example is still a very decent sweeper. Anyway, I'll join.
Zexaeon
I do hope you mean Scyther? Anyway, accepted, and I'll amend that rule.
Felix
I do mean Scyther... they have similiar names:/
Tekken Ham
I'd like to enter. If we're saving (I'm a sav whore now), are HGSS moves legal? Because Quag is made of win. And so is Aggron. Also, are we using the new OU/UU list? A few things moved around here and there and some OU's are UU and some UU's are OU's. Also for the rules: Blah blah blah, Teams for each tier, battle peoples, score points, record videos for my posterity, Clamperl is OP, etc. FYI, ban Trapinch for the NFE tier if Clamperl is gone. Because Trapinch is made of win like a one-legged Dugtrio.
Zexaeon
Accepted, will amend, and yes he is. Since this is a tourney for the sending off of DPP (and because I have no idea about anything HGSS at the moment), we will be using DPP movesets only. As for the jumping around between OU and UU, I'd need to know exactly what changed before I make that call.
JG.
Put me as an entrant for now, but I'm still not sure I can enter. I'll tell you later.
Zexaeon
Accepted. Also, added the list of prizes.
Flame Dragon
Can we do battles on shoddy? If we can I'll join.
Zexaeon
I'd prefer wifi, but if you can only do Shoddy, that's fine. Just make sure your opponent agrees to Shoddy when you challenge them.
Flame Dragon
Cool. I'm kind of really lazy and spending 15 min to make a team is much better then spending like 2 days. I think most people should have shoddy so it shouldn't be a problem.
Zexaeon
Bear in mind though that I can't use Shoddy at the moment. And I have no idea when I'll be able to again. As such, if you challenge me during the Tourney, I may very well not be able to play against you on Shoddy.
JG.
If Shoddy is alllowed, I'm definitly in. My WiFi rarely works ATM, so that's why my entry was a maybe.

Tekken Ham
Wi-Fi is much more satisfying IMO. There's like graphics and stuff. Also, is Gabite legal for NFE? Just wondering because Garchomp is kinda Uber and stuffs.
Flame Dragon
Wi-Fi is much more satisfying IMO. There's like graphics and stuff. Also' date=' is Gabite legal for NFE? Just wondering because Garchomp is kinda Uber and stuffs.[/quote']I'm going to assume he is since he's also legal in Little Cup. Tist is a list of banned pokemon in Little Cup, which I'm going to assume is the same as NFE Scyther A moveset consisting of Swords Dance, Aerial Ace, Quick Attack and Brick Break is almost unstoppable in Little Cup, with no Pokémon in Little Cup able to resist that attack combination. Both Aerial Ace and Quick Attack have their power boosted by 50% due to Technician, the latter attack is vital in stopping Pokémon using Choice Scarf to outspeed it or in stopping slower users of priority attacks. Scyther's pedigree is enhanced by the sheer power of its Base Stats, boasting both the second highest Attack stat, base 110, and the second highest Speed stat, base 105. Sneasel Sneasel can run a similar moveset to Scyther consisting of Swords Dance, Ice Shard, Bite and Brick Break and be equally difficult to stop. Also akin to Scyther, it boasts a priority attack and an attack combination that no Pokémon resists. With a 95 base Attack stat and the highest unboosted Speed in Little Cup with a base stat of 115 makes Sneasel all the harder to stop. Yanma Already in one of the highest Speed tiers, Yanma's Speed Boost ability means that after two turns it will outspeed virtually everything. From there it can wreak havoc with STAB Air Slash or STAB Bug Buzz from a respectable Special Attack stat or simply put to sleep anything it can't kill with Hypnosis. Tangela With Sunny Day in effect, Tangela becomes an offensive juggernaut. Its Chlorophyll ability can take its Speed stat to 30 and it can power through anything not resistant to Grass-type attacks with SolarBeam from a 100 base Special Attack stat, who not even Munchlax can stand up to when factoring Life Orb in. Hidden Power Fire and AncientPower provide it with good type coverage or it can take the option of putting its counters to sleep with Sleep Powder. Moreover, Tangela's bulky defensive nature -- in particular its 115 base Defense stat -- makes it even harder to take down. Meditite Pure Power transforms Meditite into a very potent threat, reaching 28 Attack with no item boosts, not even Cranidos and its 125 base Attack stat can match that. Hi Jump Kick, Psycho Cut and Ice Punch gives it all the coverage it needs, and such is the power of Hi Jump Kick is that with Life Orb it can OHKO Bronzor, arguably the best defensive Pokémon in Little Cup, who is not even weak to it. Alternatively, Choice Scarf can be used to remedy its average Speed stat and make it difficult to revenge kill. It is very possible that Meditite will be tested again in the future, though. Murkrow Murkrow was allowed in Little Cup for longer than the rest of the banned Pokémon but in the end it was deemed that its ability to sweep through multiple members of a team without any set-up pushed it over the banned threshold. Sucker Punch really makes Murkrow difficult to take on, bypassing the speed hierarchy with an 80 Base Power STAB attack with priority running off 91 base Speed (i.e. the second highest speed tier aside excluding Sneasel and Scyther). Pluck complements Sucker Punch and runs off its 85 Base Attack, and hits any Pokémon carrying a berry, such as the Oran Berry, favored by walls, for 60 Base Power (90 Base Power after STAB), disabling and consuming the berry in the process. Dark Pulse hits many physical walls, such as Gligar and Koffing for plentiful damage and has a 20% flinch rate. Murkrow also has access to Hidden Power, Heat Wave, Calm Mind and Pursuit. Murkrow was not unstoppable but was deemed too powerful and was also a clear centralizing force.
Zexaeon
Those Pokemon were all added. Also, yes, Shoddy is allowed. The only requirement is that both parties have to agree to it. If one party does not agree to it, the match defaults to WiFi.
