Umbra
To remember is to understandTo forget is to submit The world of Duel Monsters, only recently released from the Dark King Zeman's curse and once again ruled by Ancient Fairy Dragon. Zeman's castle now stands as a memorial of the events that once were, to remind the Spirits that such a thing can happen again, should they be reckless. With shadow upon shadow, a forgotten enemy appears and Ancient Fairy Dragon has no choice but to request the aid of mankind once more. You play as a Duelist, a human with the power to control Duel Spirits. There are three levels of Duelists, each of them capable of controlling stronger monsters. You start as a first-level Duelist, who can control monsters up to Level 4. From the start of the RPG, you control 1 Level 4 or lower monster. As the story progresses, you will be able to acquire more monsters. [spoiler=RPG part] Combat The DM RPG will utilize the 3.5 combat system, developed by yours truly. Combat will be made with ATK vs DEF, and contains an element of surprise. When a monster battles, it is assigned a table of ATK values based on it's current ATK. An example table is seen below, for an example monster with 1800 ATK.1 = 1300 ATK2 = 1500 ATK3 = 1700 ATK3.5 = 1800 ATK4 = 1900 ATK5 = 2100 ATK6 = 2300 ATK As you can see, the table differentiates between 1300 and 2300 ATK, based on a single six-sided dice roll. The result of the dice equals the attack value the monster deals. To continue the example, let's say the monster rolls a 5. Therefore, it has an ATK of 2100 during the battle. Simple, huh?DEF is calculated the same way. A monster's Health is their Level x 400. If a monster is reduced to 0 Health or lower, it becomes unconscious and loses Health equal to their Level x 80 during each of their turns of combat. It is possible to attack an unconscious target. If a monster's Health becomes equal to their Level x -400, they die and must be resurrected in order to fight again. A combat ends when all monsters on one side become unconscious, or surrender. Combat takes place over turns, during which the turn monster can attack one opposing monster, or use a special Ability if it has one. Levels It is possible for monsters to level up in this RPG. When a monster levels up, it gains an additional 400 Health, and it's controller gains 500 points to spend on the monster's ATK and DEF. Points must be placed in multiples of 50. To advance from a level to the next, a monster must gain Experience Points equal to the next level's square. Confused? Well, continue reading. When a monster is knocked unconscious, the one who delivered the final blow gains Experience points equal to the unconscious monster's Level. As an example, if a Level 4 monster is knocked unconscious, the victorious one gains 4 Experience points. An additional half of the monster's Level, rounded down (in the example, 2 Experience) is granted if the opposing monster is killed. The secret word is ”The Game”. And yes, I am losing while writing this. A Level 4 monster that wants to advance to level 5 must gain 5^2 = 25 Experience points. If you have any questions at all, feel free to send me a PM. You start with 100 gold coins, which can be spent on hiring Spirits in one of the cities. From the start, you will only have access to the city of Wildhaven in the Sogen territory, which is also where you will start, but as you travel the world more and more cities will be available. The cost for hiring a Spirit is 10 gold coins x the monster's Level per in-game day. Hiring costs are paid for at the start of each day. Should you be unable to pay, your spirits will return to their home city and you will be indebted to the Mercenary Guild of that city. shadowferret
Name: Diego MillanGender: MaleAppearance: Diego stands at around 5'11", with layered black hair that hangs straight down to his shoulder. He has silver-framed glasses that magnify his honey-brown eyes, and his dark skin informs others of his Hispanic and Native American blood. He has permanent black bags under his eyes, and mostly wears black clothing. Occasionally, he can be seen wearing nothing but white, though.Personality: Diego is somewhat quiet, but mostly kind. He also possesses a good amount of intelligence, but doesn't speak up enough for people to really notice. Having a good heart, he rarely ever turns violent unless something or someone important is on the line. Fighting is always the last answer with him, and he has this view towards both humans and spirits.Biography: He grew up as an only child. He recently turned eighteen, a legal adult in his country. College was hard, and he needed a break from it -- majorly. Dueling had always been Diego's way of relaxation, as well as going on dates. His girlfriend was learning how to duel, as well, so he wonders if perhaps she had shown up in this world, as well. It was a normal enough day when he arrived in the Spirit Realm. Looking in the mirror, washing up, he hadn't noticed the invisible hand of fate looming behind him before he was transported away. The Secret Word: The Game. (Dammit, I lost.) He is not the greatest in physical feats, but his artistic mind allows him to make creative escapes when a battle is too serious. He is dressed in a black leather jacked with spikes on his left shoulderpad and a chain hanging from the right chest pocket. Under it, he wears a light-blue sweater. His jeans are black with grey lightning bolts on the sides, and he has white sneakers.Personality: Raegen is the more antisocial one, not speaking to anyone except his Spirit, which does the talking for him. He rather spends his time alone with his Spirit, discussing and such.Biography: RAegen's parents were killed in a heretic cult in his homeland, Transylvania. Bearing a grudge against strangers, he don't talk to anyone except his spirit. He does however have a great interest in the arts and music, painting and playing a flute he has in his pocket. fenrir
Name: Marcus Thomas AerowulfGender: MaleAppearance: About 6'1 with short, messy dark brown hair. He wears a pair of regular glasses with hazel eyes. He is lightly tanned, and often wears a regular white tee with a black tie. He has black pants, with dark brown loafers.Personality: Marcus is rather nice, always sporting a face of innocence. He is quite polite, and on occasions, firm. This is quite a contrast to his Spirit, Fenrir. While the two are calm in any situation, Fenrir happens to be the one to suggest to kill.Biography: Marcus was born to a successful lawyer. He was otherwise raised in a protected environment. Although he was indeed spoiled when he was a child, he is incredibly humble, and most people are taken aback by this when he tells them about his past. Malice
Name: Ira TravisGender: FemaleAppearance: Ira is slightly shorter then the average height for a girl, but is of a leaner build, so she possess quite a bit of strength for a person her size. She had short, blond hair, that always hangs straight. A single lock of her hair is tied with a string, and it always happens to be in the same area, near the front of her head. Her eyes are blue, though she wears no makeup to 'highlight' any of her 'features.' More often then not, Ira can be found wearing a pair of faded jeans, sometimes with a rip or two in the knee area, as well as a tank-top, which is usually a shade of crimson. Typically, she wears a sash around her hips, that hangs to the left side. The color of this sash varies, depending on the color of her shirt, but she tends to favor a red and white striped pattern. Additionally, due to her bitter hate of bare arms, she wears brown, leather bands around her arms, three on her right, one on her left, which are near her shoulders.Personality: Ira is by no means a 'girly' girl. She favors the company of males, thinking she has more in common with them then females. She is a strong person, with a solid will that prevents her from being manipulated by others. She has a bit of a serious nature, and frequently acts as the voice of reason to those that she knows. In spite of all this, she does have a bit of a soft spot for cute things, though she often stifles the urge to make any comment to indicate so, and would likely never admit to it. Biography: Ira was born the first child of an unwed couple in a very small town. Her very existence was frowned upon by the community, simply for the fact that her parents were not married, something that was obviously not her fault, but was ridiculed for, nonetheless. Regardless of the town folk, Ira was loved by her family, although she had very few friends, due to the fact that no one really wanted their children around her. Bad taboo, as it were. Curiously enough, though they were not allowed to be civil with her, they were allowed to call her names or bully her. This childish game of cat and mouse was the main reason Ira became a strong person, she simply had to be, in order to survive. She has no idea how many times she had been pinned in a locker or beaten up, nor can she recall all the names she had been called, but as she aged, it hardly mattered to her. All she knew, was that when it came to her peers, she was alone, and would have to compensate the lack of back up with her own strength. In her preteen years, Ira picked up a new hobby. Boxing. She learned how to adequately defend herself, or strike back if needed, which also happened to be the reason she was introduced to her favorite pass time; dueling. Several of the boys she recognized from the gym had been sitting at a bench, dealing from odd looking decks. She had moved closer for a better look, though was hastily told that she had no place there if she had no cards to play with. Perplexed, she made her way to the local hobby shop and inquired about these strange cards, only to find that they had a single pack left. Fearful that someone else might buy it, she hastily threw down her money, ripped open her pack, and had her first look at duel monsters, a game that she would grow to love. While she loved duel monsters, for almost a year, Ira simply possessed the cards, and had no one at all to duel with. This all changed, however, as her family moved to the city. A big change, yes, but a welcomed one all the same. Not only to it give her the chance to purchase different sorts of duel monster cards, but it also offered opponents that knew nothing of her, and therefore would not shun her away. The Secret Word: The Game (Bah, it's everywhere. Umbra
I guess we'll start then. Wildhaven Ah, Wildhaven. The capital of the Sogen domain, once built by Ancient Fairy Dragon's closest servants and now hosting Spirits from around the Realm. It's population is approaching two million, making it one of the largest cities in the Realm. Seated at the foot of Mount Annis, where the Ancient Fairy Dragon's castle lies, the town is the first place YOU approach. You, the Duelists who have been selected as our champions. Rumors of a dark enemy in the Wastelands are spreading across the city, and recent reports have said that the merchants traveling to and from Wildhaven have been attacked by bandits and other renegades. You should have a look around the city, something useful might turn up.
.:Abarai Renji:.
Raegen sighed. He was resting near a tree, not hoping that anyone would notice him there. He was just so tired of being 'together' with someone. Who did he need, more than his Duel Spirit, anyways? No one. He could be all alone if he wished to. Pfft. Whatever. He stood up, and looked to the city of Wildhaven. "Hmph...might as well start there then......maybe find some good use for my money..." he sighed for himself, and trudged towards the city, kicking dirt at random around him.
