Episode 31: Duel Against the Gladiators![/u]

Riley walked into the Card Shop. It had been two months since he dueled Shadow, and returned him to normal, whatever that was. Riley was very popular in Diamond City, because everyone knew about his duel against Shadow, and how he won. When Riley dueled Shadow, he used his Elemental Hero Deck, his Necro Gardna Deck, and his Dragon Deck. He won the duel after summoning Spear Gardna-Ultra Form, a stronger version of Spear Gardna. He hadn't seen Shadow at all, so he guessed that Shadow had went to another city, maybe Domino City or something. Riley decided that he wanted to get some new cards, to create a new Deck.

Shop Owner: Hi Riley, what are you doing here?

Riley: I want to create a new Deck. I like all my cards, however I want to try a new Deck.

Shop Owner: I got a lot of new booster packs, your in luck.

Riley: That's really awesome! What kind of booster packs do you have?

Shop Owner: There are five booster packs for you to choose from.

The Shop Owner placed five different booster packs on the table in front of Riley.

Ace: Riley! Your getting booster packs?

Ace walked into the Card Shop, and up to where Riley was standing.

Riley: Hi Ace, what's up? And to answer your question, yes. I want to create a New Deck.

Ace: Really? Me too. That's why I'm here. I've already know what kind of Deck I want to get too.

Riley: What's that?

Ace: It's a suprise. I will purchase some packs, and we can duel later on, alright?

Riley: Ok.

Shop Owner: What kind of packs do you want, Ace?

Ace: I will buy 10 of this pack.

Ace picked up a pack, and handed it to the owner. Riley didn't notice what kind of pack he got, and that was good. The duel would be more fun if they were both using new cards.

Shop Owner: That will be 40 Dollars, please.

Ace: Alright, here you go.

Ace payed the Shop Owner.

Ace: See you later Riley!

Riley: Bye Ace!

Shop Owner: Ace is a good duelist also. The booster packs he purchased will make an interesting Deck if he gets good cards.

Riley: Awesome! I don't know what booster pack I want to buy.

Shop Owner: Why don't you buy a few of each pack, then create a Deck using the cards you get?

Riley: Alright! I will buy three of each one. How much will that cost?

Shop Owner: That's 60 dollars.

Riley: Ok.

Riley gave the money to the Shop Owner.

Shop Owner: Enjoy your new cards!

Riley: Thanks!

As Riley walked outside, a duelist about his age walked up to him.

Duelist: Hi, my name is Tyaro. Would you like to duel me?

Riley: Sure. I got some new cards, and I want to duel with them!

Tyaro: Alright! You can go first. What is your name by the way?

Riley: My name is Riley.

Tyaro: Nice to meet you Riley.

Riley: You too. Lets duel now!

Tyaro: Ok.

Riley: I summon [url=http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Gladiator_Beast_Murmillo]Gladiator Beast Murmillo[/url] in attack mode! Then, I will place one card face-down. Your move.

Tyaro: A Gladiator Beast Deck, interesting. I've dueled a Gladiator Beast Deck once. I was able to win. I guess you could say I'm a great duelist. Check this out! I summon [url=http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Chamberlain_of_the_Six_Samurai]Chamberlain of the Six Samurai[/url] in defense mode! Then, I will throw down a face-down! I end my turn.

Riley: This new Deck is awesome! I've only summoned one card and already this is my favorite Deck. Alright! Gladiator Beast Murmillo, attack his Chamberlain of the Six Samurai!

Tyaro: Riley, your monster only has 800 attack points, and my monster has 2000 defense points. That means you lose 1200 Life Points.

Riley's Life Points: 2800
Tyaro's Life Points: 4000

Riley: I realize that. Although, the Gladiator Beasts have a unique effect. When a Gladiator Beast attacks I can Special Summon one Gladiator Beast from my Deck, and place the Gladiator Beast that attacking into my Deck. So, I will place Gladiator Beast Murmillo in my Deck, and Special Summon [url=http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Gladiator_Beast_Hoplomus]Gladiator Beast Hoplomus[/url] in defense mode! I special summoned Holpomus from my Deck, so his defense becomes 2400. Your move.

Tyaro: I'm going to win this duel now! I will Special Summon [url=http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Grandmaster_of_the_Six_Samurai] Grandmaster of the Six Samurai[/url] in attack mode!

Riley: How did you Special Summon it?

Tyaro: If I have a face-up Six Samurai monster on the field, I can Special Summon Grandmaster from my hand. If you liked that card, check this one out! I have two Six Samurai monsters on the field, so I can Special Summon [url=http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Great_Shogun_Shien]Great Shogun Shien[/url] from my hand! Now, I summon [url=http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/The_Six_Samurai_-_Yariza]The Six Samurai Yariza[/url] in attack mode! You won't win! I activate the Trap Card [url=http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Breakthrough%21]Breakthrough[/url]. When a Six Samurai monster I have destroys a monster in battle, all other Six Samurai monsters on the field can attack directly this turn! Great Shogun Shien attack his Gladiator Beast Holpomus!

Riley: I've dueled an opponent who told me I couldn't win, and you know what happened? I won the next turn. That's about to happen now! I activate my face-down card, [url=http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Mirror_Force]Mirror Force[/url]!

Tyaro: That's not good! I end my turn.

Riley: I'm going to win! I tribute Gladiator Beast Holpomus to summon [url=http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Gladiator_Beast_Spartacus]Gladiator Beast Spartacus[/url].

Tyaro: Awesome monster, however Spartacus' attack is 2200, and I have 4000 Life Points.

Riley: I realize that! I equip Spartacus' with [url=http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Gladiator_Beast%27s_Battle_Gladius]Gladiator Beast's Battle Gladius[/url]! I also equip him with [url=http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/United_We_Stand]United We Stand[/url], and Gladiator's Sword! |Gladiator's Sword|Equip Spell|Created Card|Increase the attack of the equipped monster by 700 points.|

Tyaro: That makes his attack 4000!

Riley: Alright, Spartacus, attack his Life Points directly! I win!

Riley's Life Points: 2800
Tyaro's Life Points: 0

Tyaro: That duel was awesome Riley! Thanks!

Riley: No problem!

Tyaro: Next time I duel you, I will win.

Riley: I don't think so!

Tyaro walked away, and Riley looked at his Gladiator Beast Cards. He had made a good choice in booster packs.

Sweet so far, but you need more description, to enhance the transition of emotions and occurences to the readers. Ergo, more detail, intervals between dialogues to describe the scene etc. Even in a Yu-Gi-Oh! fanfic, just dueling all the time isn't going to make a good story. I'm not saying that you have to write a book, just... something to give readers a better idea of what's going on.

 

So far, I'll give you:

-Characters: 6/10 (those who were not on the first season were kind of poorly introduced and appeared slightly generic)

-Plot: 6/10 (nothing big seems to be happening - then again, it's the opening, but you could've added a cliffhanger or something...)

-Grammar - Syntax - Structure: 8/10 (nothing much to be said here. Could use longer and more complex sentences)

-Description: 4/10 (really need work there...)

-Dueling: 9/10 (very good, actually, I quite enjoyed it. Again you could have been more descriptive, but it was overall almost excellent)

-Overall: 6.6/10 (adding more description will go a looong way to an Excellent rating. Other than that, just pay more attention to the plot, so that everything seems to be... connected somehow, and is not just so random)

 

Judging from this chapter only (I merely skimmed through Season 1 due to severe lack of time), I'd say you could use improvement on the points I emphasized, but everything else seems just fine. Good luck with the next installment.

I don't like the fact he is using Gladiator beasts I liked it better when he used special cards like those necro cards because they where more random and not a set that is almost a compleet deck.

 

Actually, i think it was a good idea to change decks. but who knows, he might bring them back. :D

The reason this episode was short, is because I typed the episode, and it got erased, so I had to re-type it.

 

The only character that made an appearance here that wasn't in Season 1 is Tyaro, and more will be explained about him later. I have a good plot for this, I didn't want to reveal the plot in the first episode, that's all.

Episode 32: Ace's New Deck! Gladiator Beasts dueling Fish?!

 

 

Riley smiled. He considered Tyaro a rival duelist now. They had only dueled once, and already Riley respected him more than a lot of other duelists he had dueled before. Then, Riley thought of how Ace wanted to duel him. He had no plans, so he wanted to go duel Ace.

 

Steven Mitchell looked at the duelist standing a few feet in front of him.

 

Steven: So, your supposed to be the best duelist there is?

 

Duelist: That's right. I've only lost three duels, and I almost won those duels as it is. You won't defeat me.

 

Steven: I disagree with you. I am not like other duelists. I use very strong cards.

 

Duelist: No cards of yours can defeat my cards!

 

Steven: I got some new cards, that are undefeatable.

 

Duelist: Lets duel then.

 

Steven: Your pitiful. Alright, If I win, then you have to help me find a card I am looking for.

 

Duelist: Whatever.

 

Steven: You can go first. I will win on my turn.

 

Duelist: Your just acting tough! I won't lose. I summon Gladiator Beast Torax in attack mode. Your move.

 

Riley was walking in the city, and he found Ace eating some Potato Chips.

 

Riley: Hi Ace. Ready for that duel?

 

Ace: Riley! Sure, that will be awesome. My new cards are a lot stronger than my other ones.

 

Riley: Mine are too.

 

Riley and Ace got out their Duel Disks, placed their decks inside them, and each drew five cards.

 

Riley: I will go first if that's ok.

 

Ace: Sure, no problem.

 

Riley: I summon Gladiator Beast Hoplomus in defense mode. You can take your turn now.

 

Ace: Check this out. I play Space Mambo in attack mode.

 

A Fish appeared on the field. Riley was suprised.

 

Riley: That's...that's a FISH!

 

Riley smiled.

 

Riley: Ace, your my best friend, however no Fish Deck can defeat my Deck. Theres only like seven Fish cards.

 

Ace: If you think so Riley. Next, I activate the Field Spell Umi. All Fish, Sea-Serpent, Thunder, and Aqua-Type monsters gain 200 attack and defense points now. I will place one card face-down and end my turn. Your move.

 

Steven looked as Torax appeared on the field. It had a Staff in it's hand, and blue armor.

 

Steven: That's your strong monster? I've seen stronger cards in a Neo-Spacian Deck. I thought you would be a challenge. Whatever.

 

Duelist: The Gladiator Beasts are strong monsters. Only I have this Deck.

 

The duelist didn't realize that he was wrong, and Riley had a Gladiator Beast Deck also.

 

Steven: Another duelist has a Gladiator Beast Deck. His name, is Riley Storm.

 

Duelist: Wha..? The Gladiator Beasts are unique monsters. Only one of each Gladiator Beast Monster Card was created, and a couple of each Spell and Trap. Where did this kid get that Deck.

 

Steven: I don't know. However, I want to get that Deck from him, and when you lose, your going to help me do that, understand?

 

Duelist: I won't lose!

 

Steven: I Special Summon three Gilasaurus in attack mode.

 

Duelist: Three monsters?

 

Steven: When I Special Summon Gilasaurus, you can Special Summon a monster from your Graveyard, however you don't have any.

 

Duelist: My turn?

 

Steven: Your not getting another turn in this duel. I tribute all three Gilasaurus' to summon The Wicked Dreadroot.

 

Darkness surrounded the field, as the huge, monster, looking like a stronger version of Summoned Skull, appeared on the field. The Duelist that was dueling Steven looked at The Wicked Dreadroot.

 

Duelist: That's a Wicked God Card! How?

 

Steven: I told you, I'm not like every other duelist, I am much stronger. Thanks to The Wicked Dreadroot's effect, all monsters on the field except him have their attack divided by two. So, your Gladiator Beast Torax is now 700.

 

Riley picked up a card, and placed it on his Duel Disk.

 

Riley: I summon Gladiator Beast Murmillo in attack mode. Because Gladiator Beast Murmillo is a Fish-Type monster, he gains 200 attack and defense points.

 

Ace: Your Gladiator Beast monsters are awesome, however I think I can defeat you.

 

Riley: Sorry Ace, I won't lose to anyone with this Deck. I defeated this duelist named Tyaro an hour ago. He had a Six Samurai Deck.

 

Ace: Don't get overconfident, Riley.

 

Riley: Me? No Way. I set one card face-down and end my turn.

 

Ace: I summon another Fish, Wow Warrior , in attack mode. Wow Warrior, attack his Gladiator Beast Murmillo, Deepsea Attack!

 

Riley: Go, Defensive Tactics. Now, I take no battle damage, and Defensive Tactics goes to the bottom of my Deck.

 

A barrier appeared in front of Gladiator Beast Murmillo, and Wow Warrior stopped it's attack.

 

Ace: Your move, Riley.

 

Riley: I will place Gladiator Beast Murmillo in Defense Position, then end my turn.

 

Riley wasn't winning this Duel. He wasn't getting good cards like he did against Tyaro. Ace could actually win. Riley would look overconfident for sure if Ace won.

 

Ace: Alright. I tribute Space Mambo and Wow Warrior to summon Super Old Deep Sea King Coelacanth.

 

Space Mambo and Wow Warrior left the field, and a Strong looking Fish appeared on the field.

 

Riley: That's a strong monster! I've never seen that card before.

 

Ace: You were wrong about Fish monsters being weak. Now, I activate Super Old Deep Sea King Coelacanth's effect. By discarding one card from my hand, I can Special Summon up to four Fish-Type monsters from my Deck. The problem is, the monsters I summon can't attack, be tributed, or activate their effects.

 

Riley: That means they won't help you. How are you going to win like that?

 

Ace: Check this out. I Special Summon two Wow Warrior from my Deck, and two Space Mambo from my Deck.

 

Riley: That's a lot of monsters.

 

Ace: I activate the Spell Card Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy your face-down card.

 

Riley: Not Parry.

 

Ace: Then, I activate a card you gave me!

 

Riley thought of what card Ace was talking about. Then, he realized what it was. After he dueled Shadow, he gave Ace and Crystal each a card because they helped him. He gave Crystal Spear Dragon, and Ace..United We Stand. Riley knew that if Ace activated United We Stand, his Super Old Deep Sea King Coelacanth's attack would increase to 7000. Then, he would lose.

 

Riley: Your going to activate United We Stand?

 

Ace: Yes. I will defeat you with the card you gave me after you defeated Shadow. I activate, United We Stand!

 

Super Old Deep Sea King Coelacanth was surrounded by energy, and his attack increased to 7000.

 

Riley: I'm not going to lose now, because I have two monsters in defense mode.

 

Ace: You are going to lose now, Riley. The card I discarded is Deepsea Direct Attack. When this card is discarded from my hand to the Graveyard as a cost for a monster effect, one Fish-Type monster on my side of the field can attack directly this turn.

 

Riley: That means, I lose!

 

Ace: Alright, Super Old Deep Sea King Coelacanth, attack Riley's Life Points directly with Deepsea Direct Attack!

 

Riley's Life Points: 0

Ace's Life Points: 4000

 

Riley: That was a great duel Ace. I'm sorry I was so overconfident.

 

Ace: This is the second time I've defeated you. Your Deck is good, you should get more Gladiator Beast cards.

 

Riley: I agree. Want to go to the Card Shop?

 

Ace: Ok.

 

The Wicked Dreadroot was on the field, and it was surrounded by Dark Energy.

 

Duelist: The strength of The Wicked Dreadroot is incredible.

 

Steven: I told you I would win on my first turn.

 

Duelist: Yes, however my Gladiator Beast Torax has 700 attack points, if The Wicked Dreadroot destroys it, I will have 700 Life Points left. You don't win yet.

 

Steven: That's why I am going to activate Shadow Energy. This Spell Card increases the attack points of The Wicked Dreadroot by 1000 points until the end of my turn. Now, destroy his Gladiator Beast Torax and end this duel!

 

Steven's Life Points: 4000

Duelist's Life Points: 0

 

Steven: You are going to help me get Riley's Gladiator Beast Deck. What is your name?

 

Duelist: Tyaro.
