I met more people whom I can talk to and befriend.

I learn new things with the decent threads you post up.

And I don't get as bored with my life.

Though from before I came on YCM to now, my life is still the same.

It hasn't impacted me in real life, but instead, made me a bit more sociable to others in real life [because I try to maintain less friends over the internet then irl, cause that's just how I roll].

Out of curiosity' date=' how do people on an internet forum affect your life directly? Unless you meant indirectly, through debates/discussions/etc.

I don't mean directly. I mean the overall effect of YCM can have on somebody's life. For example, somebody might say that they used to be a bit more physically active, but then due to ycm being in their lives, cut down significantly on that because they now spend most of that time on ycm... or vice versa ;D

YCM made me despise extremely poor grammar.

It never bothered me before' date=' but now it irritates me to no end.

This is also true. Now on the few times I actually go on AIM, I internet-punch people hu takk liek dis

Indeed. I mean you don't need flawless grammar because my own grammar is nowhere near flawless, but at least put a little effort into looking somewhat intelligent.

I don't follow through with that rule for texting, however, as texting was made to be quick and simple. But when you have time, it's nice to look smart.

I try to use good grammar during texting unless it's a long message. In this case, I ditch the use of proper punctuation while maintaining correct spelling...

Then again, the people I am texting are used to seeing "dude wana go 2 da mall 2moro i need a new shirt", so I just follow through with that.

I use good grammar and spelling either way. I must flaunt my superiority.
