(YUGIOH) DARK WINGS (New Fanfic)

Summary:

The story is about a 16-year old boy named Riku Takai who is known as a great duelist by many and he gets invited to join a duel monster team called the Dark Wings. Duel Teams are elite groups of duelists who patrictipate in many exclusive tournaments and turbo duels, and it's the first step into getting into the Pro League.The story expands even more when a great evil arises in the future and the Dark Wings are one of the few groups able to fight back.

 

Oh, and If you guys like it, you can create a character for my story and message it to me. It might take me a while to reveal some of the characters depending on how the story shapes out. The character format is in the spoiler tag below.

Prologue - Day of Change

This chapter is just an introduction, I'll get in more duels after this one.

 

 

"MAN IT'S HOT!", I whined. I lazily carried myself downstairs and grabbed a coke from the refrigerator. I popped it open and started sipping slowly as I walked back up stairs. "Maybe I could duel today?" Now there's an idea, I thought to myself. Hastily finishing the last bit of my coke, I opened my drawer and I reached for my deck. It's a synchro deck. I spent lots of time perfecting it, trying to make it run smoother and faster, but there are still a few cards I'm missing.

 

I glanced at my calendar. Today was October 12, 2099. Dueling started becoming really popular at 2072, and soon more local tournaments popped up, and more and more people started to become interested in dueling. Nowadays, It was perfectly normal for people to be carrying decks. Some used it to settle disputes, others for gambling, but most people play it for the pure enjoyment it brings.

 

I shaked my head. "I'm talking to myself again" I thought. I checked the time, it was 6:00 pm. No one was home, so I decided to drop by a friend's house and duel. I was going over to my friend Serina's house, someone whom I've grown to like over the years. Of course, I wouldn't think of asking her out or anything, but It was nice to think about it.

 

Serina's house was only 5 blocks away. Even though it was so close, I was tempted to ride my new duel runner, and so I did. I still couldn't believe I finally built it. It was coated with slick metallic red, great horsepower, powerful engine, and of course, an in-built turbo duel system for...you know, turbo duels.

 

I checked my license. Riku Takai. 16 years old, 5'7 in height, blue eyes, all that good stuff. I cruised around and headed over to Serina's house. The feeling of being on the runner gave me a desire to get into a turbo duel, but there wasn't enough room to do it in the neighborhood. I rang Serina's doorbell. No answer. I rang it again, and still no answer. "What happened" I thought. Then at the time, I noticed a note on the ground.

 

I read it to myself. "I have Serina with me. Don't worry, all I want is a turbo duel with you. I want to see how good you really are. Meet me at the Rendal Docks, 7:30 pm." I paused for a moment. "Man, not this again!" I thought to myself. It was probably Ryan, looking for another duel. I hopped on my duel runner and headed to the docks. Unknowingly, the duel that I was getting myself into was going to turn my whole life around as a duelist.

 

 

Chapter 1 - Turbo Duel!

I re-edited Chapter 1, so there should be less errors in the duel, and I added a few sentences.

 

As I headed to the docks, I thought about the situation. I'm guessing the person who wrote the letter is Ryan, since he also recently got a duel runner, and he had lost his cellphone a while ago so he couldn't keep contact with me. The more I thought about it, the more strange it became. It could be someone else, I mean, leaving a note like that is very wierd, and theres no name on it either. I didn't know who to meet or what to expect, but I drove on foward. I just hope nothing bad happened to Serina.

 

At about 7:00 pm, I reached Rendal Docks. I got off my duel runner and as soon as I did, I saw Serina. "Serina!", I shouted as I rushed over. She was with another person, a girl with long black hair, wearing a black tanktop and shorts, probably the same age as me. The girl saw me right away. "Glad you came", she remarked. "Are you the one who left that letter?" She replied simply. "Yes." I glanced at Serina again, she greeted me with a short smile and a wave. Serina began to speak.

"It's a wierd thing to ask, but all she wants is to duel you."

 

I looked at the girl, and asked her why. She stayed quiet for a moment, pursing her lips, as if trying to remember what to say. Then she finally spoke. "As a duelist yourself, I'm sure you're familar with dueling teams". I nodded. "I'm a recruiter from a new dueling team, the Dark Wings, and we plan on entering the Invitational Team Cup coming next week. To make it brief, I'll ask you. Would you be interested in joining our team?"

 

I contemplated in my mind. Dueling teams are the elite of the elite, most teams can join exclusive tournaments and even get payed just to duel. It's an honor to receive an invite. I began to speak. "But why me?" I exclaimed. "Many people know you in the dueling community. You've settled quite a number of disputes through dueling, and you've gained many victories in local tournaments." Before I could reply, she continued speaking. "Right now, are an unregistered team is made of 3 people, we need two more people to finish the team. "

 

"Great, they're not even sure if they're a team yet." I thought to myself. But this was a great opportunity. I've always wanted to play in the big leagues, maybe they can help me strive to my goal. "I think I'll join." She smiled. "Great, but before you do, I would like to see how well you play in a turbo duel." I agreed, and we headed towards our duel runners. Serina sat in the side-lines. "Good luck!" she said. I smiled and replied with a wave. I looked at the course ahead. It was a circular course, one of the more simple courses, perfect for a begginer like me.

 

Before we started, I asked the girl for her name. Her name was Kallen. "Let me explain the rules of a turbo duel.", Kallen began to speak. "In a turbo duel, you're going to be dueling while riding, so it will strain you physically and mentally. To initiate a turbo duel, you must be riding at least 80 miles per hour and activate Speed World, and both players have to be at that speed. You start with 3 speed counters and you gain a counter every turn as long as you exceed the 80 miles per hour limit, if not, you don't gain one. If you drop to 20 miles per hour or less, you'll slowly lose your speed counters, and if you lose all of them, it's game over. You can use these speed counters to activate certain spell, trap, or even monsters, those special cards can only be used in a turbo duel."

 

It was a good thing I had spare speed cards. I took 5 minutes to change my deck, taking some cards out and adding the speed cards in. At long last, It was finally time to start the duel. I was excited, but nervous at the same time. I had only experienced riding a duel runner at school, and it was just a few test runs. Now, it was going to be the real thing. I took a deep breath, and drove to the starting line. "I'll start the countdown", Serina exclaimed. I revved up my engine along with Kallen. 3..2..1..START! Kallen took the lead, and a few seconds, she activated "Speed World". The turbo duel system glowed to life, and the lifepoints were set, time to duel!

 

Turbo Duel Start!

Riku: 4000 Lp (3 counters)

Kallen: 4000 Lp (3 counters)

 

Kallen makes the first move. I summon "Blackwing - Bora the Spear" in attack mode! "So she runs a blackwing deck" I thought. Now that I have a "Blackwing" on the field, I can special summon another one, so come on out

"Blackwing - Blizzard the Far North!" I'll synchro them together and create "Blackwing Armed Wing!" (6 Stars Atk 2300 Def 1000).I'll wrap it up by setting one face down card.

 

I draw. I set a monster in face down defense position and lay two face down cards. That's all for now. Kallen draws. I summon "Blackwing - Shura the Blue flame". Now I attack with "Blackwing Armed Wing". She smiled. "Also, due to it's effect, it pierces your defense positon monster and increases the attack of my armed wing by 500 attack points!" "I saw it coming, that's why I activate my trap card "defense draw", any battle damage I take turns to 0 and I draw a card. "Oh well, my other monster attacks!" "Too bad, because the monster you attacked is Dark Resonator, and once per turn, it cannot be destroyed by battle!". "Tsk..I'll end my turn."

 

"Time for some tuning, I thought. I summon "Wolf of Unity" in attack mode. (3 stars Atk 1200 Def 400). Now I tune "Wolf of Unity" and "Dark Resonator (3 stars)" to create "Gaia Knight, The Force of Earth!" (6 Stars Atk 2600 Def 800). Too bad, I activate my "Bottomless Trap Hole" card!" I smirked. "You should of waited, because thanks to the wolf of unity, when it is used for a Synchro Summon, that synchro monster cannot be destroyed by any card effect until the end phase! I'll also use the spell card "Lightning Vortex", and I'll discard a card to destroy all face-up monsters on your side of the field! With no monsters, my Gaia attacks directly! Direct hit! The shock caused a huge vibration on her duel runner, but she managed to keep the same pace. I'll set another card face down and end my turn.

 

Riku: 4000 lp (4 counters)

Kallen: 1400 lp (5 counters)

 

"Not bad", Kallen remarked. "I draw!" I activate a speed spell, "Synchro Rise!" By discarding 3 counters, I can special summon a Synchro monster from my graveyard that was destroyed by battle. So come back "Blackwing Armed Wing!" Now I summon my "Sinister Sprocket!" (1 star tuner). I synchro these two together to bring out an even stronger monster, "Blackwing Armor Master!" (Atk 2500 Def 1500). Also, thanks to Sinister Sprocket, I destroy a trap card on your side! Seven tools of bandit gets sent to the graveyard. "It's still not strong enough, Kallen! I activate "Shrink" to half the attack of Gaia, and now I attack! 1200 lifepoints of damage is dealt to Riku. I'll set a card face down and end my turn. Kallen started accelerating on her bike and Riku manages to catch up to her. "If he plans on attacking me, I have a Sakuretsu Armor waiting for him, which destroys his monster if he ever trys to attack."

 

Riku: 2800 lp (5 counters)

Kallen: 1400 lp (3 counters)

 

I draw. "I activate my face down trap card "Call of the Haunted", and I bring back "Gaia Knight - The Force of Earth!" Next, I summon "Shiba Warrior Taro" (2 star tuner). Now I synchro them together to create the ultimate, "Sun Dragon Inti!" (8 Stars 3000 Atk 2800 Def). Now I activate my speed spell "Synchro Rush!" By removing 4 counters, my Sun Dragon Inti gains 1000 attack points and is unaffected by any card for the remainder of the turn, so don't think about activating a trap card (Sun Dragon Inti Atk 4000 Def 2800)!" "No way!", Kallen replied. It's time to end this duel!" I exclaimed. Now Sun dragon Inti, attack her Blackwing Armor Master! 1500 points of damage was dealt, and Kallen's lifepoints dropped to 0. The turbo duel system began to turn off and Kallen's engine stopped to a halt. The game was set, Riku had won the duel!

 

Riku: 2800 lp

Kallen: 0 lp

 

"Nice duel", Kallen replied. "You're as skilled as they say, and managing to keep up with me on that duel runner is impressive."

I was dripping with sweat, mostly from being nervous. "It was a fun match." I remarked. "It was a shame I couldn't duel you with my real deck." Kallen said. "Though, my real blackwing deck is very similar, I can already tell you're going to be a great duelist, so starting today, you're part of the Dark Wings Team! I'll introduce you to the other members tommorow. I gave Serina a ride on my duel runner. "So, are you happy you're finally part of a team?" Serina asked. "Yeah, maybe my life will change for the better!" Even when I got home, I couldn't stop thinking about how fun the game was. Exhilirating, high speed turbo duels. I was eagerly looking foward to playing more.
