Although the plots aren't that good, the characters still have more better and themed decks, and they encouraged a lot of real-life players to play better. Yugioh is still the origin, and it has a good storyline, along with a great character development, however it still feels 'nubby' to me and its plot gets somehow twisted, as in the beginning of the series the plot about Yami Yugi is somewhat far from the original one in the last season.
