¶nÇØGn¶TØ
Well..... yeah..... Kinda boring nowadays.... I was thinking about the awards and points and on how to make people bring their interest back. RepsMost members initially get the drive to stay because they want to reach a certain amount of reps or become the richest member in YCM. Time will pass and these people will realize that reps can be easily acquired if you have many friends. Why don't YCM hold contests monthly or every quarter and give prizes which will reflect under a member's name like the "tweeter" award. I am aware that there is a certain group of people who handles the awarding thing but there has to be something more than reps and sigs. I think awards that will be placed under a member's name would be more visible and classy. PointsPoints will be useless at a certain period. All a member has to do is go to the Tutorial section and self study. If i have 1000 points and the cost for a card to be holoed is from 1 to 30 points depending on the quality of the job, then the remaining 900 points will be useless. Some people even have 5000+ points which in my opinion 50% of that amount is useless. Some people might say that points will have lots of uses. The question is, does everyone spend on everything? The most common thing people buy are sigs, holo, splice, trainer cards, etc... wherein it takes weeks or months before they will avail of a new one. I know that shops might be against this... but before i state my idea, the question is, what will the shop owners do with 10,000 points or more? In addition, shop owners can do stuff for themselves so i really don't see them spending that much. In fact, i'm giving them an idea to spend something on. My point here is that points are not that scarce. All a member has to do is post a lot.. *poof*... instant points... Why not create something like pets? Let's say there is a page where you can buy a pet using points. Example: I can buy a Dark Magician or a blue eyes white dragon and put it in my sig. Then, i can level it up by paying points. Example. The cost for me to level 2 my Dark Magician is to pay 100 points. Then, the cost for me to Level 3 it is 120 points. Level 4 will be 144 points where every level increases points to be paid by 20%. There are a lot of monsters that we can create or base from the real game. I am not saying that we make pets of the real YGO characters but i know we can get ideas from them and create our own. The People/Members are evolving and so must this site. It might cost something to do this but the intention is for the best and long term usage. I don't know if anyone will support this. Even if everyone does, i'm just hoping YCMaker will take this into consideration. Thanks for your time.
♥ ЅϯᵲåώӀӞ℮ᴙʀɣ−ɴɨɨ−ƈħåɴ ♥
Reps: There are also people who come to realize that reps mean nothing. Points: Your description totally describes me' date=' apart from the fact that I don't really buy anything. I just have points. I doubt YCMaker would implement something like that, though.[/quote'] I know this is a long shot. But there has to be upgrades, new ideas, or changes. Also, i am one of the people who realized that reps really mean nothing. You can have tons of it just because it's your birthday, or somebody giving random reps. Regarding points, you are correct. You were one of the members i first thought. Honestly, you have lots of points and nothing to spend on. Being one of the richest in points doesn't really mean anything because you have nothing to spend on it. I can name other members like DeMeNTeD, X-31, etc... They have lots of points but doesn't really use them. It's just there. What happens is that points are just being passed to someone else. It is not depleted. From what i know and based from my RL experience, the more abundant a resource is, the less people want to get them. Most of the time, they will realize this and suddenly find them useless. And thus, I think that it is one of the reason why some members quit or leave.
Monkey
I don't quite understand your rep desecription... I like your spending-points-for-virtual-pets idea. Maybe like a shop or something? But then again, something like that was suggested as well and has yet to be implemented. I would support the "points" part of your thought but I'm not quite sure about the "reps" part

I would rather have 1 award like the tweeter award instead of having 50 or 80 reps. Why, because not everyone has it or not everyone will have it. It will then make me more interested because i want to have more unique awards. As stated, why can't YCM make contests and/or conditions where the prizes are like that of the tweeter award. As you said and as what ♥ ЅϯᵲåώӀӞ℮ᴙʀɣ−ɴɨɨ−ƈħåɴ ♥ said, YCMaker might not implement this. But i hope... This somehow wakes him up.(Nothing against YCMaker)
Monkey
Oh, I see what you mean now. So like, lets say Darth Browarod holds a card contest, and the winner receives an award that would go next to their "tweeter" award?

OMGAKITTY
The problem with using points as any sort of economy is that there is no fixed amount. Points get generated out of thin air every time you post. And you're description of points in shops looks inaccurate to me (although I haven't been in there for ages, so maybe I'm wrong). Things in shops are dirt poor. free-15ish is average, I thought. Its an interesting idea with the pets. Gives members something to do...and you could expand on that (gear, accessories, etc. Maybe even some sort of battle system). But this won't happen. Wishful thinking is nice though. Wishful thinking is nice though. 1st - You are correct. But it will never have a fixed amount because there is nothing to compare/benchmark it to. Once this idea somehow or miraculously becomes implemented, then i think more members will become more active and would appreciate the value of points rather than it just being there. 2nd - I just gave a range. Actually, one will just have to go to the tutorial section and do it for themselves. 3rd - Even if this doesn't happen, somehow, this site must evolve. I am sure you know based from history on what happens to things that does not evolve. Either they get left behind, or become extinct. I don't want that to happen to this site. 4th - I also thought about the gears, items for the pets. But the first step before doing that is to implement the idea of having pets. And yes, we can then expand on that^_^ It may take some time due to financial restrictions. But so far, this is what i think is best for this site. Besides, the reason why companies give advertisements to sites like this is because of the number of People who visit it. It is quite complicated to explain it as most of the members here will not understand it. For short, if people lose interest in this site, so will investors. The expense for this project might be more than what he actually allocated for projects/upgrades. Anyway, he won't disclose that budget to any of us cause i sure won't. But we can't always be wishful thinking. There has to be movements/actions. Sure there are suggestions to add new sections, etc.. but what i'm looking for is an idea that will improve YCM's image and stand. We already have card, sigs, RP's, etc.. Why can't there be pets. Why not make this site a one stop shop to forumers and kids. I see people going to other sites just to get an adoptable, egg, etc.. Why not make our own and use our own means/resources to level it up. Doing that will entice more people to join here. More People = more investorsMore investors = more money ^_^

Kizzi
IMO, people should charge quite a lot more in graphic design shops. But I do agree that there should probably be a rep award and a points award, and more ways to spend points.
