I've been wanting to do this for a while, but I have only just got round to doing it.

[spoiler=Gold Rares]

Step 1:

If you haven't done so, download GIMP, you can find links to GIMP downloads on Google.

Step 2:

Copy + Paste or open the card you want to make into a gold rare.

Step 3:

Use the Path Tool and draw a path around the card. Then draw another on the inside of the black border border.

NOTE: When you are connecting the two ends of the path, hold down Ctrl or they won't connect.

Step 4

Go to Select (in the menu at the top) and click From Path.

Step 5:

Go to Colours (in the top menu) and click Colourise. Change it to 49 - 67 - 5 (You can adjust the last one slightly if it doesn't work out right, it seems to vary a bit between different cards for some reason).

Step 6:

Do the same with the border around the pic except Colourise it to 49 - 45 - 5 (again, adjust it so a bit if it doesn't look perfect).

What it should look like:

[spoiler=Gold Stickers]

This is extremely simple, but it is also very effective.

Step 1:

If you haven't already done so, download GIMP.

Step 2:

Open up or Copy + Paste the card you want to put a Gold Sticker on.

Step 3:

Use the Path Tool and make a path around the Sticker on the card (do this accurately, zoom in on it by 800% for best results). NOTE: When you are connecting the two ends of the path, hold down Ctrl or they won't connect.

Step 4:

Go to Select - From Path (this is important, if you don't then the entire card will be recoloured).

Step 5:

Go to Colours - Colourise and make it 49 - 67 - 10 (this may vary, adjust it slightly if it doesn't look quite right).

The results:

[spoiler=Normal Holos]

Step 1:

If you haven't done so already, download GIMP.

Step 2:

Open up the pic you want to holo.

Step 3:

Select all of it by pressing Ctrl A.

Step 4:

Copy and paste one of these into your image:

Step 5:

In the Layers,Channels,Paths box to the right of the screen, right click on the layer with the holosheet and resize it to the size of your image.

Step 6:

In the same box, go to Mode - Dodge.

The Results:

[spoiler=Advanced Holos]

Step 1:

If you haven't done so already, download GIMP.

Step 2:

Open the image you want to holo.

Step 3:

Use the Path Tool and go around everything that you do not want to have a holo on.

NOTE: When you are connecting the two ends of the path, hold down Ctrl or they won't connect.

Step 4:

Go to Select (in the top menu) and click From Path.

Step 5:

Go to Select (in the top menu) and click Invert.

Step 6:

Copy either of these:

Step 7:

Right click somewhere that is not on the canvas and select Paste Into.
