bury the year
Well, the results are in from the Statistics Poll, and since the general opinion is divided nearly-equally, Shadius, Sheena and I have decided to take a third option. Instead of making the clause permanent or throwing it out the window, we will be using an idea that one of our members wonderfully suggested. Specifically, the Tag System. HOW IT WORKSFrom now on, whenever an RP thread is created, the creator must put a tag in the title indicating it as either a Basic or Advanced RP. (If you do not, the RP will be locked without warning. It’s an easy thing to do.) [bASIC] – Here, the Advanced Clause does not apply. Feel free to RP the way you want, but be warned that if things get out of control or break the normal RP section rules, we will be able to give out punishment. That includes overtly sexual or violent posts and spam, among other things. [ADVANCED] – If you’re using this tag, you agree that your RP will follow all of the rules in the Advanced Clause. No exceptions; it’s all or nothing. Because of this, you also must be more discriminating in accepting people who apply for your RP, and not simply accept anything that flies your way. Since this is an optional setting, we will be moderating more strictly than before, so you have to keep up the good work. [TEACHING] - RPs with this tag will be related to The Highlanders School of RP. Therefore, you must sign up there before you can join one of the RPs with this tag. Teaching RPs are effectively Basic-level, and will have rules applied to them as such, but the goal is to advance your quality of RPing to at least Advanced. Rules will therefore be more lenient, but we, the teachers, reserve the right to remove you from the RP if you aren't active with it. WHAT ABOUT THE OLD RPS? From the time that this thread is posted until September 12, 2009, all active threads that were posted before this change and therefore do not have a tag must have one added to their title. After the 12th, all old threads that don’t have a tag will be locked. No exceptions. You have two days; that’s plenty of time. A CHANGE TO THE CLAUSE One thing that isn’t accepted under any circumstances in any forum is spamming. This, of course, is the practice of making short, inconsequential posts that do not pertain to the thread at hand. In RPs, this means OOC-only posts, but that was later rectified with the Advanced Clause. Since the clause is now becoming optional, we are adding the above rule into the general RP rules. (Teaching threads are an exception; sometimes OOC conversation will be required in the thread that cannot be settled over PM.) In short, no OOC-only posts in any Basic or Advanced RP threads. Breaking this rule will have your thread locked with no negotiation. (A once-per-day bump is an exception, though, as long as it has nothing else attached.) ANOTHER CHANGE When I lock a thread due to there being no tag in the title, I don't mean for you to go back and reopen it with the tag. That's completely missing the "punishment" aspect of the rules; you didn't put it in before, so you shouldn't put it in now. I've been getting sick and tired of having to lock excessive double threads. Therefore, from now on, if I catch anyone remaking a thread that's been locked due to missing a tag, you get a 30% warning for two weeks and no opportunity to remake it. Ever.
