Here's some advice.

Don't spend enormous amounts of time trying to become a mod, posting dozens of threads every day, (Look where that's gotten Ragnarok) don't ask how to become a mod, and work on your grammar. It's not worth all of the time just to do the dirty work around the forum. All you do every day is answer questions from idiots, read the constant paranoia in the moderator forum, lock stupid threads, and give warnings. People will constantly try to pull you away from real life events just to baby sit some internet forum and if you don't go you'll be named a "bad" mod.

EDIT: Just saw the post below, apparently you also have to be a giant tool to become a moderator.

I was a level 6 when I became a mod, but thats meaningless.

I was a possible mod candidate for a really long time before I actually became one, from what I looked up.

I didn't brown nose whatsoever. Poor job, where? PM me.

You dont need a high rep count to become a mod. I get them for being awesome.

If YCMaker deems a need for more mods, he will open an application thread. Your best chances at becoming a mod is to be extremely active and helpful/well known in a particular section.

But being a mod sucks, so I don't know why you would bother.

you have to get a certain amount of posts before you become one :)

You really have no idea what you're talking about, do you?

I thought you had to be lv 6... it would be easy to be a mod then

Lolwut? You guys have no idea what you're both talking about, do you?

And YCMaker doesn't even post. I believe he already stopped doing public applications. They've all become mod referrals, from what I've heard.
