The Greater Immortals

 

 

 

“Since the rise of turbo dueling another variant of the game called Mecha Dueling is also becoming popular. It is played like a normal duel, but with new technology and special Mecha cards the duelists are able to materialize a large mech that they will drive. Inside the mech they can play normal cards or they can play Mecha Spells which allow them to use there own mech in battle. The mech they are driving cannot attack unless the opponent has no monsters, but by using these Mecha Spells they can fire at each other. This is a dangerous way of dueling because the mechs they are piloting are very real and do take real damage.”

“Man those Mecha duelists are the coolest.” Macaru stood up and changed the channel. On the TV was a duel between two popular Mecha Duelists: Razaphan and Meloo. It was Razaphans turn.

“I activate my Mecha Spell: High Voltage Cannon.” Razaphons dragon mech raised its arm and a gun appeared in it. He pulled the trigger and shot a blast of energy at Mello’s knight mech. It hit on target and dropped Mello’s life points to 1500. “And now I end my turn.”

“I draw. Then I summon Kings Armada in attack mode. Kings Armada attack Razaphon directly.” The group of soldiers ran towards Razaphon. “It’s over.”

“Yeah, but not for me. I activate my trap card Magic Cylinder.” A tube appeared and the soldiers ran into it. They came out the same side and ran towards Meloo. They slashed at the knight mech. Meloo’s life points dropped to zero. Suddenly everything disappeared and the two duelists were standing there again. “Good game.” Meloo walked away. The crowd began cheering and the announcer walked on to the stage and handed Razaphon a Mecha-Card.

“Alright.” Macaru turned the T.V. off and picked up his phone. He called a friend of his. “Morning. You ready for this? Good I’ll see you at the tournament hall.” Macaru hung up the phone and walked out to the bus. He took a bus and rode to the tournament hall. Outside Of the hall he met up with his friend. “Morning.”

“Hi Macaru. Lets do this.” Macaru and his friend walked into the tournament hall. Inside the hall a official walked up to them.

“You two going to be in the league tourney?”

“Yep” said Macaru.”

“You, come with me. You are going with him.” Macaru followed the official and his friend went with the other. “My name’s Jim by the way.”

“Alright. So how does this work?”

“Pretty easy, the winner gets in for sure and others will get in depending on how well they do.”

“Okay, so who’s first?”

“You and that guy.” Jim pointed to a guy on the other side of the room they had just entered.

“Alright.” A loud speaker came on and it said for the two duelists to come to the arena.

“That’s you.” Macaru walked through the hall and walked onto the duel field

Duel I: Making a Rival

 

 

 

“Alright everyone. This first duel is between Macaru and Joseph. The winner of this duel will be given a Mecha-Card pack. So without further adieu, lets begin.”

Macaru walked up and placed his Assault Mecha V. 3 card on his duel disk. A large orange mech appeared and Macaru stepped into the cockpit. Joseph played the same card and also stepped into his mech. Macaru and Joseph played the field spell card Mecha Coliseum. “Lets go. My turn first.” Both players drew their hands. “I draw.” Macaru drew a card. “And then I summon Dark blade and play two cards face down.” All of the cards appeared between the two mechs. “I end my turn.”

“I draw.” Joseph drew his card. “I summon this card in face down defense position and place this face down spell card. And then I end my turn.”

“My turn.” Macaru drew his card. “I tribute Dark Blade to special summon Summoned Skull.” A large creature appeared. “Summoned Skull attack his face down card.” The monster shot a lightning bolt that destroyed Joseph’s face down card. Then I activate the Mecha Spell Blast Cannon.” A Gun appeared in the Assault Mechs hand. Macaru fired a large blast shell, which destroyed Joseph’s face down spell card, and lowered his life points to7500. “I end my turn.”

“Ugh that was bad. I draw, and place this card in face down defense position. Then I end my turn.”

“Alright, I draw.” Macaru drew his Blue Eyes White Dragon. “I activate the Mecha-Spell card: more for less. That allows remove 1 junk counter from Mecha Coliseum to special summon my Blue Eyes White Dragon.” A large whit dragon appeared on the field. “Summoned Skull attack his face down card.” The Summoned Skull shot a lightning bolt that destroyed the defense position monster on the field. “Blue Eyes attack him directly.” The Dragon opened its mouth and shot a blast of light that hit Joseph and lowered him life points to 4500. “I end my turn.”

“This is bad.” Joseph drew his card. “That will help a bit. I activate my spell card Fissure.” A large crack opened up and destroyed the Summoned Skull. “Then I end my turn.”

“I draw a card, and activate my Mecha-Spell Blast Barrel.” A large barrel appeared above Macaru. He grabbed it and threw it at Joseph, but the card disappeared before it hit him. “Dang out of Mecha-Points. Oh well Blue Eyes White Dragon attack him directly.” The dragon shot another blast lowering his life points to 1500. “I end my turn.”

“Perfect. I draw and activate the Mecha-Spell Equal Match. Your life points and Mecha-Points become equal to mine.” Macaru’s life points lowered to 1500. “Then I activate the Mecha-Spell Gigaton Cannon.” A large cannon appeared in Joseph’s mech’s hand. “Game Over.”

“Not yet. I activate my Mecha-Spell Overload.” The cannon Joseph was about to fire exploded lowering Josephs life points to 0.

All of the cards disappeared and Macaru walked over to Joseph. “Good game.”

“Whatever.” Joseph walked through the doors to the duelist rooms. The announcer walked over to Macaru.

“Congrats, here is your pack.” He handed Macaru the Mecha-Card Pack. Macaru turned around and left through the winner door.

 

Duel II: The Trial

 

 

 

Inside Macaru learned that his friend was his next opponent. “Good job out there.” Jim walked up to Macaru. “Tough Luck though, fighting your friend so early.”

“It’s all right.” The speaker came on again.

“Next up is Macaru and Serjin. This looks like it will be a good fight.” Macaru walked out onto the field and saw his friend.

“Hey Serge. Let’s make this a good duel.”

“Alright, and your not winning this time.” The announcer walked up.

“Serge versus Macaru, Let’s get this duel started.” Macaru and Serge played their Assault Mech V.3 cards and got into the cockpits.

“Let’s go.” Both players activated Mecha Coliseum. “Your first Serge.”

“I draw. Then I summon my Elemental Hero Wild Heart.” A warrior with a large sword appeared on the field. “Then I place two magic or trap cards. And I end my turn.”

“I draw. Then I summon my Dark Blade.” A black knight with two swords appeared. “Then I activate the Mecha-Spell card Tornado Gun.” A green gun appeared. Macaru fired the gun, which destroyed Serge’s Spell and trap cards. “Now Dark Blade attack Wild Heart.” The knight ran forward.

“I activate my Mecha-Spell Mega Blast.” Both Dark Blade and Wild Heart disappeared and were replaced by a large bomb. The bomb exploded lowering both Macaru’s and Serge’s life points to 6000.

“Dang. Well then I play one face down spell or trap card and end my turn.”

“Alright, I draw and then summon Elemental Hero Avian. Avian attack him directly.” The green birdman flew and shot a gust of wind at Macaru lowering his life points to 5000. “And I end my turn.”

“Alright here we go.” Macaru drew a card. “I summon a kuribo. Then activate creature swap. I take your Avian and you get my Kuribo. Now Avian attack Kuribo.” Avian shot a wind blast that destroyed Kuribo and lowered Jim’s life points to 5500. “I then activate Ultimate Offering which allows me to normal summon Summoned Skull by tributing Avian. Then I end my turn.”

“My turn then, I set this card in face down defense position, and end my turn.”

“My turn I activate Rageki Break.” Macaru discarded a card and Serge’s face down card was destroyed. “Then I will have Summoned Skull attack you directly.” The monster shot a Lightning Bolt at Serge lowering his life points to 3000. “Then I activate the Mecha-Spell Card Bomb.” Summoned Skull was replaced with a bomb that exploded lowering Serge’s life points to 500. “Then I end my turn.”

“Alright, I hope this works. I activate the Mecha-Spell card Equal Power.” Macaru’s life points dropped to 500. “Then I activate the Mecha-Spell card Self Destruct.”

“No, I activate my face down card Mecha Cancel.” Serge’s mech began to glow but stopped.”

“No, no, I end my turn.”

“My turn Summoned Skull attack him directly.” Serge’s life points dropped to 0. All of the cards disappeared and serge ran over to Macaru.

“Oh come on really. Did you have to do that?”

“Sorry man. But hey look at the bright side. Your probably a Mech Duelist now.” Macaru got the pack and both him and Serge walked of the stage.

“Who’s next?” Macaru walked over to Jim.

“That guy. Be careful I saw his last duel and he was good, I mean real good.”

“Okay.” Macaru walked back out to the stage because his next duel was about to start. On the other side of the stage was a guy wearing a black hoodie and black jeans. He walked over to Macaru.

“Confirmed.” He walked back to his side and raised his hand. “I forfeit the duel.” He yelled out and then walked off of the stage.

“Alright then.” The announcer walked over and gave Macaru a Mecha-Card Pack. “Congratulations. You are now in the finals. If you win you will get a rare ancient tin that is sealed by magic. Or at last that’s what they say. In my opinion it’s just a brick carved to look like a tin.” Macaru walked off the stage and went through the winner doors. Inside he walked up to Jim.

“That was weird. Why did he do that?”

“No clue, but your next duel is against Meloo.”

“Really. Wow I don’t think I can beat him.” Macaru walked out to the finals stage.

 

Duel III: The Interruption

 

 

On the stage Macaru saw Meloo. “Hi there you ready for this.” Meloo walked over to Macaru “Let’s do this.” He walked back and played his Paladin Mech. A knight mech appeared and Meloo jumped into its cockpit.

“Alright then.” Macaru played his Assault Mech V. 3 and jumped into its cockpit. “I go first.” Both players activated Mecha Coliseum. “Here we go. I draw, and then summon Pitch Black Werewolf, and I end my turn.”

“I Draw, and then play one monster in face down defense position, I end my turn.’

“My turn. I summon Dark Blade in attack mode. Dark Blade, attack his face down card. A knight in black armor charged forward and destroyed the face down card. “Then Pitch Black Werewolf attack him directly.”

“I activate My Mecha-Spell: Attack Trap.” The werewolf ran forward but got hit by a laser and disappeared.

“I end my turn.”

“I draw and then I end my turn.”

“I draw and tribute dark blade for Summoned Skull.”

“I activate my Mecha-Spell: Summon Swap” The Summoned Skull appeared and then went to Meloo’s side of the field. “And then your turn ends. Now it’s my turn I draw and have Summoned Skull attack you directly.” The Summoned Skull shot a lightning Bolt Lowering Macaru’s Life points to 5500. Suddenly a rocket flew down and destroyed the arena.

“I activate Spacebound Colosseum.” A Black Mech flew down through the sunroof. “Then I summon Follower of Space 3.” An unarmed green mech appeared. “Then I end my turn. Your up Macaru.”

“Who are you?” yelled Meloo.

“It doesn’t matter. Know go Macaru.”

“Okay I draw. Then I activate the Mecha-Spell: Card Copy.” Meloo’s Summoned Skull disappeared and a Summoned Skull appeared on Macaru’s field. “Summoned Skull, attack him directly.” The Summoned Skull shot a lighting bolt lowering Meloo’s life to 5500. “Then I play on face down card and end my turn.”

“I draw. And then summon this card in defense position.” Meloo played a face down card. “Then I end my turn.”

“My turn. I activate the effect of Follower of Space 3 to special summon Spacebound Mech: Gale.” The green mech disappeared and was replaced by a large black mech with wings and a energy sword. “Gale attack Meloo directly.” The black mech flew forward and slashed Meloo lowering his life points to 2500. “Then I end my turn.”

“I draw and have Summoned Skull attack Meloo directly.” Once again the Summoned Skull attacks Meloo lowering his life points to 0. As soon as his life points hit 0 the Paladin Mech he was driving Exploded and Meloo appeared unconscious on the ground.

“Wait, what just happened?”

“He lost. Know I draw, Gale attack Summoned Skull.”

“I activate my Mech-Spell: Anti Attack.” Gale flew forwards but exploded in a cloud of smoke.

“Fine I end my turn by summoning Follower of Space 3 and by placing this facedown card.”

“I draw and have Summoned Skull attack Follower of Space 3”

“I activate my facedown card Astral Barrier.” Summoned Skull shot a lightning bolt but it turned and hit the black mech instead of Follower of Space 3. “Ugh.” The black mech’s life points lowered to 5500.

“I end my turn.”

“Okay I draw and activate Follower of Space 3’s effect to special summon Spacebound Mech: Blaze.” A silver mech with a large gun appeared. “Blaze attack Summoned Skull.”

“I activate my Mecha-Spell: Attack Bomb.” The silver Mech exploded lowering the black mechs life points to 3000.

“I end my turn.”

“I draw and have summoned skull attack you directly.” Summoned Skull attacked lowering his life points to 500. “Then I activate the Mecha-Spell: High Voltage Cannon.” A gun appeared in the Assault Mech’s hand. “Fire.” Macaru fired the gun lowering the black mechs life points to 0. When this happened the black mech exploded and the pilot appeared unconscious on the ground. Macaru appeared back on the stadium.

“Congratulations. You are our newest Mecha-Duelist. And what a duel, I thought that the black mech had you there for a second. Well here you go.” The announcer handed Macaru a Mecha-Spell Pack and the small box that was the prize.

“Wait, but what happened to Meloo and the other duelist?”

“Not sure we believe it was a malfunction in the system. They are in the infirmary if you want to see them.”

“Thanks.” Macaru walked out of the stadium and walked towards the infirmary. Once inside he looked around. On one bed was Meloo with a lot of people crowding around him. On the opposite side was a duelist with a black pilot outfit. Macaru walked over to him. “Who are you?” The man sat up.

“That doesn’t matter.”

“Yes it does. And I want to know what happened out there.”

“Simple, we lost. It’s only fair that we are harmed.”

“No its not. And you still haven’t told me your name.”

“Fine, my name is Max. I came here to test you.”

“For what?”

“That.” Max pointed to the box that Macaru was still holding. “Open it.”

“I can’t it doesn’t open.”

“Have you tried yet?”

“No, but the announcer said…”

“I don’t care. Open it.” Macaru took the case and pulled at the top. At first it was stuck, but he kept pulling and it opened. Macaru reached inside and pulled out 5 cards and 4 card decks.

“Wow, these look powerful.” He looked at the cards. “Spacebound Immortal Drathus Imanis, Enar Xanius, Ira Vehementi, Sors Artmatha, and Veni Venias. Weird they don’t have any pictures.”

“Take Enar Xanius and hold it up to the sky.”

“Okay. I’ll be right back.” Macaru ran outside and held Enar Xanius up to the sky. The ground started shaking and the sky turned black Macaru looked up and saw a star constellation appear in the form of a swordsman. The stars started glowing very brightly and a beam appeared that shot down to the card. The ground stopped shaking and the sky went back to normal. Macaru looked at the card and saw a blue mech with small wings a curved sword and a laser gun. “Wow.” Macaru ran back inside and went to Max. “Look.”

“Amazing, so the rumors are true. Take this.” Max reached into the box and pulled out one of the decks. On the front was a picture of Enar Xanius.

“Wait the deck was blank before.” Macaru took the deck and set it aside. “What about the other ones?”

“Nope see.” Max held up the box and Macaru looked inside and saw that the other cards and decks were still blank.

“Oh well. Why did Enar Xanius work then?”

“It’s your card.” Macaru opened his deck and looked through the cards.

“Hey these are the same cards you used.”

“Not quite, the ones I used were fake look.” Max held up his deck

“Wow.” Macaru looked at the deck, which had turned into dust.

“They were only to test you. Now you won and have to make a team.”

“Why make a team, I can easily get sponsored.”

“Yeah, but you have to form your own team. You need to find the other people that use those cards and get them to join you.”

“How will I know if they are the people that use these cards?”

“They’re called Space Vigils first of all, and they don’t know that they are. You will know because you will see a constellation like before, only this time it will appear on the person.”

“And what do I do when I find them?”

“Duel them, win and when you do give them the card. It will awaken and then you will give them their deck.”

“Okay, what if they are already dueling and what if I lose?”

“If they are dueling do what I did, jump in and interrupt the duel. And if you lose then you will have to try again.”

“Okay, but what if they don’t want be on my team.”

“They will don’t worry about that one.”

“Anything else I should know about then.”

“Two things first let me see your normal deck.” Macaru handed Max His deck. “Sorry about this.” Max took the deck and threw it into the trash.

“Hey, what’s up with that?”

“You have to use that deck. You can add cards to it and modify it, but that is your deck now. And the other thing, there is a group of people who use cards like these called the Corebound cards. They are self righteous and will do anything to stop you from getting all of the Space Vigils.”

“Great. Hey what’s up with the outfit?”

“The real Space Vigils have this as a uniform, when you use your Mecha-Card Void Mech V.3 you will get this outfit and you’ll always wear it while dueling.”

“Okay. Well, I guess I’ll be seeing you.”

“Probably not.”

“Why?”

“I broke into a stadium and caused a disturbance in a duel, odds are I’m probably going to jail.”

“I guess, why don’t you come with me.”

“Really, you’d take that risk.”

“Well, if what you say is true then I might have to mess with some duels as well.”

“True. Lets go then, wait I don’t have a deck.”

“Yes you do.” Macaru went over to the trashcan and pulled out his old deck. “Here.” Macaru handed Max the deck.”

“Thanks. Lets go then.” Max got off the bed and together with Macaru snuck out of the stadium.

 

Duel IV: the Rival (Again)

 

 

Macaru and Max had snuck out of the stadium and were looking for the other Space Vigils. They went to the underground duel arena. Inside a man in a black cape approached them. “You, I challenge you to a Mecha-Duel” He pointed to Macaru.

“Okay. I’ll bite.” Macaru and the hooded man walked over to the duel field. “You can go first.”

“Lets go.” The hooded man activated Mecha Colosseum and Macaru activated Spacebound Colosseum. The hooded man played his Assault Mech V.5 and Macaru activated Void Mech V.3. Both duelists jumped into their mechs and drew 5 cards. “I draw and summon Dark Blade in attack mode. Then I end my turn.”

“I draw and then I summon Follower of Space 1. Play two facedown cards and end my turn.” The green mech and the black knight appeared between the two Mechs.

“I draw, know Dark Blade attack Follower of Space 1”

“I activate my Trap Card Sakretsu armor.” The Knight disappeared.

“Fine I end my turn.”

“My turn I discard Magic Cylinder and tribute Follower of Space 1 to special summon Spacebound Mech: Spy.” A black and purple Mech with a sniper rifle appeared. “Then I activate Spy’s effect. By discarding this Spell Token card from my hand you have to randomly discard a card from your hand.” Spy shot one of the hooded man’s cards and sent it to the graveyard. “Then Spy will attack you directly.” Spy shot another bullet which hit The Assault mech lowering its life points to 6000. “Then I end my turn.”

“I draw. Then I summon this card in defense position. And I end my turn.”

“I draw and summon Follower of Space 1. Then I activate its effect by discarding this spell counter card I can tribute Follower of Space 1 and special summon Spacebound Mech: Blind. I activate Spy’s ability and discard this Spacebound Immortals Blessing to discard one of your cards.” A white mech with a rifle appeared and then Spy shot another one of the hooded mans cards. “Then since there are six spell or trap cards in the graveyard Blind’s attack and defense are 3000. Spy, attack his facedown card.” Spy shot the facedown card sending it to the graveyard. “Blind attack him directly.” Blind raised it’s rifle and shot a beam of light lowering the hooded man’s life points to 3000. “I end my turn.”

“This is bad, I draw and then I end my turn.”

“I draw, and then I tribute Blind and Spy to summon Spacebound Immortal Enar Xanius.” The two mechs disappeared and were replaced by a blue mech with small wings a sword and a gun. “Enar Xanius, attack him directly.” Enar raised his gun and fired a blast lowering the hooded man’s life points to 300. “Then I end my turn.”

“Fine I draw and place this card in face down defense position then I end my turn.”

“I draw and summon Follower of Space 3. I activate his effect by tributing him to special summon Spacebound Mech: Gale.” A black mech with wings and a energy sword appeared. “Gale, attack his face down card.” Gale flew and slashed the face down card. “Now Enar Xanius attack him directly.” Enar appeared in front of the other mech and slashed it. When he slashed the mech exploded in a ball of fire. The hooded man appeared unconscious on the other side of the field. Macaru’s mech disappeared and he ran over to the other duelist. “Are you alright?”

“Dang I lost again.” The hooded duelist pulled off his hood.

“Joseph! Why the secrecy?

“I’ll beat you next time.”

“Wait you didn’t answer my…” Macaru didn’t get to finish his answer before Joseph had run off. “Or not.” Max walked up to Macaru.

“You know him?”

“Not really. He was my second duel in the tournement.”

“I see. Be careful.”

“Why?”

“He might be one of the people who use the Corebound cards.”

“Why do you think that?”

“Just a hunch.” Macaru and Max looked around. Macaru’s duel seemed to have caused a commotion so they had to sneak out of the underground duel arena.
