How old were you when you first started to listen to metal? (If you listen to metal)

That's hard to say. I remember really liking Rob Zombie's "Superbeast" on the soundtrack for Twisted Metal 4. That was in '99, so I was five at the time. Then I was addicted to Linkin Park's "In the End" for a while when I was 7.

That was it until I was maybe 11 or 12, and I was more formally introduced to Linkin Park by a friend of mine that was fond of heavy rock groups. After I decided I like them, He showed me System of a Down and Disturbed. From there though, I sort of shot off on my own. I discovered Mushroomhead, and was a huge fan of them for a while. I delved off into Mudvayne, Drowning Pool, etc. before I went through a J-Rock phase and then got into Gothic and Symphonic Metal. I still listen to a ton of that, but only in the past year or so have I begun to open up to Nu-Metal again, as well as the more extreme genres. (Melodeth, Metalcore, etc., though I still hate straight up Death or Deathcore.)

I started listening to Metal at around 12, but I didn't like it that much. I've been listening to some soft metal and soft rock songs, but I can't make my way with hard metal and hard rock. It's just people screaming.

But the use of Satanism is cool.

Satanism only really has a part in black metal and some thrash metal.

I don't do deep classifications, just hard and soft. So I'd probably put black and thrash into hard.

When I was 10, I was really into rap music. Until one night my brother brought home two Metallica CDs (Master of Puppets and Ride The Lightning). As soon as I heard them I left rap behind and got into rock/metal. I didn't get REALLY into metal until I was about 11 or 12. That's when I discovered the more extreme metals. It started out with like Children of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, and Cradle of Filth.

So yeah... I was about 10 - 12.
