The warm, glistening sun's radiance shined through Akihiko's silk curtains, inviting him to a bright, new day. Unfortunately, Akihiko didn't see it that way.

"Grghh...", he groaned, squirming, wrapped in the beige bedsheets. "It can't be morning already!" The cold silence of the bedroom depleted Akihiko's attitude further. "Great. Just fantastic," He grunted, after crawling out of bed and glancing at the cherry wood grandfather clock that stood across from his bed. It presented the time; ten thirty. Class started two-and-a-half hours ago. "I'm so screwed!" He blurted in frustration, gathering his books in a rush. "I missed first and second period entirely! I can't afford another tardy."

Akahiko set off, adorned in a blue polo, acid washed jeans, a pair of skate shoes, a thin olive-green jacket, and of course, his worn out jet-black backpack. He raced down the sidewalk, brushing past several passerby. His mind was set on school, a little too set. Akahiko's foot cought on the curb of the sidewalk, causing him to lurch forward. He plopped into the cold, hard concrete, his face grinding against it. Akahiko lifted himself up, brushed the dirt off, and kept jogging along.

---

After a mile of jogging, East Ridge High School materialized into Akahiko's view. "Finally," he sighed in relief. He glanced at his wristwatch. "Ten-Fifty, eh?" He mumbled. "I'd better hurry in."

"Ah, Mr. Misure, late again?" boomed the voice of Mr. Haiga, the school principal.
Akihiko busily scooped up the messy assortment of thick books, floating papers, and spiraled notebooks covered in doodles. The eigth period bell rang loudly in the air, signaling him to move on, into detention, wich he had earned for being tardy yet again. He shuffled quickly out of his Algebra classroom, dodging the other students.

Akihiko made his way to the dark, dim, purple & white lockers just outside of his History classroom. 232, his rusty old locker, edged closer and closer. He fumbled with the combination lock, then ripped open the locker door. Akihiko exchanged a few books, and rushed himself down the hall and into the cafeteria, where Detention was held.

---

The black hands of the round, shiny wall-clock struck Four Fifty-five, and the students naturally prepared themselves to leave, to escaper from the horrid dungeon known as detention. Akihiko only had a few algebra problems to do, and completed them with ease. Afterward, he read a few chapters of "A Personal History of Thirst". He quickly shoved a few papers away, deep into a textbook. he shoved a few items into his bulky backpack, and slung it over his shoulder, Akihiko raised, and paced toward the main cafeteria exit, along with fellow students of all sorts. He was the first to push open the purple double-doors, engulfing himself in the bright sunlight. Finally. The weekend.

Akihiko set off into the outside world, returning home from his long, dreadful day. He jogged along the curb, the same one he ate earlier that day. He past the local Methodist church, a Subway, and a food market. He reached the apartment buildings two blocks from his own apartment. Akihiko felt a sudden jerk on his right arm sleeve, pulling him into an alley, between apartments.

"Woah, the hell?!" Akihiko shouted in slight panic, stunned by the swift suprise. The first thing to pass his eyes was a hooded figure.

"May Setheran be with you!" the figure boomed. "What are you talking aboiut? Unhand me!" Akihiko struggled to break free of the strong, bony grip, but it was futile. "Bless this soul, Setheran! Bless this soul!" the strange man repeated. "Who in the hell is Setheran?" Akihiko argued, "I demand you to leave me alone!" Akihiko shivered slightly, in confusion and fear. Then, all of a sudden, Akihiko fell to the ground, paralyzed. He screamed in fear, shaking and twisting, sprawled on the ground, hopeless.
"Ah, god damn it!" Akihiko shouted in pain. He sprung to his feet, and his head it something hard. As he fell over, he realized he was no longer in the same alleyway, but in the beige-toned bedroom he awoke in earlier that day. How is it still so bright out? Akihiko thought to himself. His eyes darted to the grandfather clock yet again. "Eight Thirty-Two," Akihiko called out, as if answering someone else's request for the time. He scratched his head, near the root. At that moment, his left hand flung to his right elbow, as if a reflex. Akihiko gripped the arm in pain, and flopped back in the laying position he awoke to. "What in the devil?-" He started, but gazed at his arm, long and hard. Akihiko felt as though slivers of lead traveled through his veins. Searing, hot white pain flowed through his arm, forcing him to groan. His hand moved over, revealing a deep, but pencil thin, scar in the form of an 'S'. "What happened?!" Akihiko addressed.

He fished around in his small, cramped closet for a decent outfit to go about in. He found a football jersey, and immediately chucked it away in disgust. He came across an interesting teal 'Ambercrombie' tee, and a baggy pair of khaki shorts. A sun visor, his leather wallet from the nightstand, and his sliver cross necklace completed the outfit. "Thank god for weekends," Akihiko sighed. He slipped on his 'Etne' skate shoes, and headed out the front door, nibbling on a piece of toast he scrambled to make in a rush. He finished the bread, and hopped on his rusty, green bike.

Akihiko peddled off, and around the corner, toward the food mart. "Loaf of bread, two packages of instant rice, jug of milk, and a 3 cans of chicken noodle soup," he mumbled toward himself, perfectly naming every item on the list. "A can of spinach, 2 sticks of butter, ........" his voice trailed off into the siren prudoced by the locusts. But somehow, a shrill scream managed to break the barrier of the siren. Akihiko launched his foot unto the concrete, and squeezed the brakes on his bike handle. "Where did that come from?" he panicked. "Stop it! Please, HELP!" the voice drilled into the air once more. Akihiko hopped off his bike, (witch wasn't the best idea) and barreled down the sidewalk in the direction in witch the screams came from. "Please, stop!" the feminine voice rang out again. "I'm coming!" Akihiko bawled out.

Don't worry, I'm just lazily getting things done, enjoy what I've put out so far.

too late, i alredy answered it! XP XD anyway, i'll start reading now.

edit: pretty interesting so far. seems like the chapters are going to be pretty short though. were you maybe thinking that the chapters would be segments in parts of a book? you know, like so many chapters in part one, and the same for 2 and 3 and so on. like that?

but yeah, quite interesting up to this point. looking forward to what comes next.

well good luck with that. however, in actually publishing it (if you get that far, which i hope that you do) you may want to condens the small chapters into larger chapters, know what i mean? anyway, i'll be keeping an eye on here, and awaiting your next installment. oh, and by the way, when your not busy with your writing, (or typing, i guess <.<) maybe you could check these threads out?

if you like them, you could join them and liven things up a bit. also, you could tell everyone there about your book. ;) that way, you can gt more people reading, and more opinions as to how they think it is.

That's wonderful, I'll tell you what. If you get a banner for your fanfic, I'll put it in a spoiler with a link to it. You can do the same if you want. I'll get to reading. And yes, Condensing chapters is what I might do. But I like books with small chapters. 1.) Suspense. 2.) They make you feel real smart.

Hey, dude! I just read 17 chapters of "The Legend of Spawn" in five minutes!

Really? Woah, you read fast![/exaggeration]
