This girl is kinda scary, if you ask me.

She had those eyes that kinda lure you in and disarm you... almost like a serpent waiting to strike. I didn't trust her, really, but why would I trust anything in this dude's mind?

Fuzzy was silent as his paws tapped the ground next to me. We were walking, following the young'un at a slow speed. I felt uneasy, and I could tell at least a few of the other members of our little group felt the exact same way.

The Twilight Zone music was playing in my head on an infinite loop the whole time we walked with her.

James didn't trust this girl. Her eyes where... well... strange. They lured him in and made him want to follow. James suspected something was wrong and felt as if he and the others would be attack at any moment. "Still anxious?" Vitex whisppered in his ear. "I don't think you have anything to worry about."

"No, this seems like a trap or something."

Vitex sighed. "James when will you learn to relax?" James had stopped listening and was focusing on the girl, waiting to see what she would do.

Akashic looked at the girl. She seemed unhumanly harmless, the true example of innocence, which was a tad bit unnerving in itself. And what was all that about a queen? Wasn't this a guys mind? Regardless, he decided to follow the green leaf haired girl to where ever she was taking them. After all, they had just taken down a giant tree monster. He was pretty sure a little girl, leaves or not, wouldn't be to big of a problem. "Well i'm game. Could use a bit of relaxation after all that. But then we should probably head back to the real world. Don't want the good doctor getting worried."

The girl giggled as she skipped a little while walking. She seemed impeccably cheerful, even when surrounded with the drab, contorted trees, some of which still showing signs of damage from the earlier battle. She moved between them lithely and quickly, as if she had done this a dozen times already.

Markus felt the back of his neck prickle. He felt...things... watching him. Eyes that peered from behind the trees, and disappeared when he turned to look. He shivered a bit; it made him wary, but the eyes weren't doing anything but watching, so he supposed he didn't need to do anything.

After a short bit of walking, the girl led them into a grove of different-seeming trees. These ones were also contorted, but all were a soft, tan-color, that embraced eachother as if they were hugging giants frozen in time. They all had massive, olive-colored leaves, each bigger than the girl that led the group through them.

Eventually, she giggled when she got to a small hollow in the ground. Markus blinked; he swore he could hear the tune of some wood flute somewhere in the distance.

Heikichi followed the girl, oblivious to the suspcious feeling that everyone felt. Kipo followed close behind, looking around. She knew she was being watched by someone or something, but she can't seem to catch one in her field of vision. She looked around with a cautious face. Heikichi stopped when the girl reached a small hole in the ground.

"Um...Miss? Is this where you live? It seems a bit small..."

The leafy girl giggled and smiled coyly at them, flicking one of her leaves. "Of course not! It's much too small..." She giggled, and plucked a seed from the base of one of her leaves before dropping it into the hollow. There was a pause, before a cracking sound was heard as a tree surprisingly sprung out.

Markus blinked and took a step back as a piece of vegetation appeared before him- vegetation that, if he weren't imagining it, had GOLDEN LEAVES.

The tree grew tall and big, easilly dwarfing everything else, with massive canopies of trees, each leaf surpringly made of a shiny, yellow substance that looked for all the world like golden leaves.

There was a rustle of leaves as more small people emerged from the bushes, very similar to girl, but with eerilly glowing red eyes that looked everywhere at any time, like wary beasts. They growled a little at the Espers, the tips of their long ears twitching and their leaves swaying a little at the end, but didn't do anything else.

The girl giggled as she was caught up a branch of the tree as it growed. Encircled by the leaves, her figure was obscured for a few minutes before she seemed to lightly float down from the tip; every leaf growing from her was at least four times as long, and glowing a brilliant gold. Her hair had changed to, into a bright, firy red, with her eyes becoming purest silver.

She retained the youthful innocent look, Markus noted with distaste, but gathered bright colors as if she were a painting. She smiled coyly at the group, showing off her newly-grown tiny fangs. They didn't seem threatening- in fact, they even made her look a bit cute- but he could tell they could rip flesh if they needed to.

The girl giggled. "Heya. I'm the Queen." She said sweetly, no change in her voice from before. She waved an arm around the area. "...and this is my Kingdom."

James followed the girl to a small hole in the ground. That can't be where she lives, it's too small James thought. She giggled, pulled out a seed and dropped it. A tree sprang out of the hole. James took a step back and saw the tree had golden leaves. This is so wierd. The girl was caught on a branch and pulled upwards as she was covered in leaves.. The leaves then swung away and the girl now had leaves over her body that were twice as long and glowing gold. She also now had blazing red hair and fangs.

The girl giggled. "Heya. I'm the Queen" She said. James was so mesmerised by what had just happened that he hadn't realised the things coming out of the bushes. small people emerged from the bushes, similar to girl, but with glowing red eyes. They growled at the ESPers and James put his hand around his sword and pulled it out a little, exposing some of the blade.

"I have no clue what just happened," David muttered, his mind reeling from all the strange occurrences. Even if this was just a dream inside a man's head, it was so strange and surreal that the only reason he had decided it wasn't a dream of his own was because everything prior to this made sense. A little. Kind of.

David mulled the events over in his mind. So that strange girl was the queen of some sort of kingdom of strange eerie creatures with red eerie eyes. Okay, he could handle that. What role did they have in his purpose here? He glanced at James, noticing the fellow ESPer had touched his sword with a note of paranoia.

"Dude, don't do that. If she's the queen and they're her subjects, you'll look like you're threatening her or them and they'll have a reason to attack," David whispered. "If she has any power over them at all, they wont do anything."

This world is supposed to be a dream? James thought. This guy has some wierd dreams. First there's killer trees, then a little girl and now we're supposed to believe she's the queen?

"Dude, don't do that. If she's the queen and they're her subjects, you'll look like you're threatening her or them and they'll have a reason to attack" David whispered. "If she has any power over them at all, they wont do anything."

James glanced at David and let the sword fall back into the sheath. He said "A while ago we were fighting trees and these guys look a lot more dangerouse than trees. I don't want to take any chances" James still had his hand on his sword and eyed the small people around the tree suspiciously. I really want to get back to the real world He thought.

Okay, as far as I know, things with glowing red eyes is never a good sign.

"Katy, don't panic... as long as you don't provoke them, we're safe. I think."

Fuzzy wasn't exactly doing his best at trying to reassure me, that's for sure. The dagger at my side flailed around in the holster.

I hadn't used it yet in a fight. This weapon was unique to this odd dream world, and it seemed to be mine, but it was too wild for me to even dream of trying to control it. I kept it in its sheath, watching the mini-queen and her subjects, awaiting the next move.

The Queen giggled and seemed to walk up them, walking lightly on her feet; It was almost as if she were a leaf, brushing against the ground. She paused and gave a large flourish and bow. "I, and on behalf of my people, would like to thank you kindly for your help." Her eyes glinted with mischeif as she looked again. "That beast-like creature has been creating problems for us for ages. It strikes us down when we try to get too close, and we've never been able to destroy it, as it kept growing back."

Her eyes glinted in the back. "But happy day, now you've wounded it, at the very least! We can once again traverse the forest without fear!"

She giggled a little more. "Well, actually, there are two other creatures that keep getting in our way. Or were, anyway, we managed to capture them on our own. Unfortunately, we can't kill them, they seem to grow back too."

Her eyes glinted. "Or did, anyway. We think they were connected to that big thing you destroyed... And since you've made him a problem no longer, we're sure that they've lost their regenerative capabilities! Finally, we will be slowed by them no longer!" She said triumphantly. The red-eyed humanoids howled and jumped up and down with excitement when she finished, evidently excited. The tone of bloodlust could be seen in their crimson eyes.

Heikichi watched as the queen descend from her golden tree. He wasn't startled by the red eyed creatures that cheered as the queen announced her request for the ESPers to destroy two more monsters.

"There are more of those things? That's not good! We should go get them after we go back to Seinheim-sensei. He might be worried..."

Kipo looked around at the jeering figures. She could sense that their intentions for killing these monsters was impure. She got a cold sweat and tugged on Heikichi's arm.

"Let's get out of here Hei-chan. These guys are creepy..."

Something ached the very back of Akashics mind. There was something very odd here... Something didn't quite match up. Mabye it was the pure bloodlust evident in the little mens eyes, or mabye it was the queen herself, and her bluntness when it came to this matter. Regardless, he needed answers before he continued with this unusual journey. "I don't mean to be rude your "majesty", espically with all of your people around, but what do you mean when you say slowed? And how exactly did you capture 2 of those things, yet still have problems with one? Would you mind showing them to us, perhaps with much less attention then now."

This little midget of a "majesty" was starting to get on my nerves. I didn't like the little queen. Her words irked at my conscious, and I knew something was up.

Of course, as Green Day once said, "or maybe I'm just paranoid". Something along those lines.

The little creepy red eyes stared at us, revealing the seemingly unquenchable thirst for violence and blood.

"Um, Fuzzy..."

"I know, Katy... just stay calm. I don't see anything bad happening yet."

It was a relief hearing Fuzzy say that. At least I don't have to wor--

"Have I ever told you my precognition is limited to a little less than four minutes?"

Real assuring, cat.

The Queen giggled and curtsied a little. "From spreading, of course." She said politely to Akashic. "This is our forest, but those mean creatures kept stopping us from intruding. It was really annoying; All we could get is this far, until they started attacking us."

She giggled. "We have some abilities too. I doubt we're as strong as you brave people, but we managed to stall the other two. Sure, you can see them, but we'll have to kill them soon. After all, they are still a threat, technically."

She giggled cutely, with innocence that didn't match her words. Her eyes lit up when Heikichi spoke. "Oh, would you destroy them for us?" She said, smiling. "We could do it on our own, to be sure. But we're nowhere near as strong as you are, and some of us might be hurt..."

James felt very uneasy. He could see that these people were not as kind as there queen made them out to be. James tightend his grip on his sword, thinking about what he should do. These people wish to kill the other creatures for some dark purpose, so I shouldn't help them. I wonder...

"What will you do once we kill the two creatures?" James asked

Oh, yeah. Totally not scary at all. Little plant queen girl talking about killing some big ol' trees.

"Um, hey, Fuzzy? You SURE that we're not in danger?"

"Not yet. The current course of actions taken by the personalities here do not lead anywhere particularly life-threatening. Of course, that is only if nobody makes any random decisions within the next four minutes."

"....you suck."

I looked around, noticing that there were a lot of living organisms in this forest with us. I kept thinking to myself, At any time, we could be ambushed...

My muscles tensed at the thought. I simply sat back, listening to the rest of the group converse with Little Ms. Psycho Queen.

David kept his silence, scratching his chin thoughtfully. He couldn't put his finger on it, but something seemed off. He was not normally one to believe in stereotyping an entire group because of looks or first impressions, but the whole thing seemed...convenient. Yes, that was the word he was looking for. The subtle way the queen had mentioned the adversaries, the way she seemed to be urging them to help, while at the same time insisting help was unnecessary. The way she kept mentioning the ESPers' superior strength was particularly suspect. All of it could easily be accounted to the rest of the story, such as their own protection but if this place was part of a man's mind, natural defenses were to be expected. The tree had attacked them potentially because they were intruders to the mind.

David frowned. Could these creatures also be intruders to the mind, possibly the root of the man's stress? Was he just thinking into this more than he had to? It would be like trying to guess the twin headed snake's gender based on what they said.

"Male"

"Female"

"Wait, you're female?"

"No, you are."

His point exactly.

The argument of the queen was relatively true. That and her still remaining youthful(if creepy) innocence seemed to create a nearly flawless persuasion. Still the feeling remained, but now it was half untrust, and half aggrevation: 2 more monsters to deal with. The first was hard but 2? at least they were restrained, that would make it a bit easier. "Alright," Akashic said trying to sound as commanding as he possibly could. "Take us to them. then we'll decide the best coarse of action."

  • 2 weeks later...

OoC: I actually like this, too... And if we don't mind, I'll move the story ahead a little.

------

My feet were silent in the growth below us. The little Psycho Queen girl led us through the foliage, through the trees, and through many different paths. I could feel the eyes of all of her little minions all over us.

Looking to Fuzzy for assurance that we'd be fine, I wasn't pleased to see his hairs standing on end. Some of the others in the group lookd just as suspicious as I felt; others seemed to want to go along with the Queen's idea.

"I still don't like this..." I thought I'd whispered it to Fuzzy alone, but I was proved wrong.

"If you don't like it, then we could always just feed you to these monsters and see if they'll go away. Your mouth's big enough to feed one, eh?" The Queen looked back at me with a sneer, as if she knew I wouldn't do anything to her.

I was tempted to prove that preconception wrong, but second thoughts stopped me.

We walked into a clearing soon enough. I saw that monster again, and I felt my muscles tense up at the sight of the behemoth. However, it looked contained... for now. Who knows if it would break free or not?

I heard a hiss from Fuzzy as we stopped. That can't be good.

(OC: Apologies to everyone. I've been busy lately, and Mindscape sorta fell by the wayside.)

- - -

Two creatures laid moaning and growling at the bottom of a bit, apparently dug out from what had one been a simply gargantuan tree. The first appeared at first to be a massive hawk, or bird of some sort, until one looked closely; It was covered in brown leaves that resembled feathers, with a wooded mask across the head that formed the beak, the large branches reaching backward like stag horns of some sort. It's bramble-like claws still clenched together now and then, as if it were trying to regain its strength, but it seemed drained and tired, as if it were moments away from death.

The last one was perhaps the most interesting. Unlike the first monster and the gargantuan hawk beside it, this one was barely bigger than the Espers themselves. It was a centaur of some sort, though the horse portion was larger than any known horse, and had six legs. The man portion was groaning, and seemed like it was having a nightmare; Its skin was a dark, dark green and had massive stag-like horns that resembled the hawk beside it.

The queen chuckled a little, looking at them. "Look at them now. They used to be so high, and mighty." She pouted. "Once upon a time, when we just wanted shelter, they tried to destroy us. And now, look at them! They're in our old places now, shriveled, beaten, nearly dead!" She chuckled and looked back at the espers. "Well? Will you do it, or shall we?" She said with a smirk. "You got rid of the first one, so I suppose I could confer upon you the honors."

Zenon had been doing nothing but hanging back and tacking in all of the happenings of theses strange people. Their queen was especially odd. All of her manorisms and such were so diabolical, and yet she looked like a little child.

After being given the option to slay these beasts, who seemed helpless and weak, Zenon spoke up saying, "What's the point in trying to kill them if they don't fight back... How do we even know these two are anything like the one we fought. That centaur like being bears almost no resemblance to the other two, and the tree monster we just defeated had control of the forest around it. I see no such similarities."

James Was tense, ready to spring at the queen. Whatever reason they had to kill these creatures was wrong. What if these creatures are not the source of this guy's stress, what is these little things are. James thought.

He pulled his sword out of it's sheath and rested it on his shoulder. The queen looked at him with anticipation. There was and evil glint in her eye as she said "So are you going to kill these monsters?" James looked at her and sawthe glint.

"You still haven't aswered my question." He said "What will you do if we kill these creatures?"

David remained near the back of the group, looking around at their surroundings, rather than at the creatures in the pit. One could almost say he looked bored, disinterested in the present task.

"Here's a riddle," one of the snake heads murmured in David's ear, causing him to twitch a little. "If someone kills to save his own life, is it wrong?"

"And," the other head hissed, "is it wrong to kill something when it's no longer a threat, solely on the basis it COULD be one?"

David was silent. What a riddle indeed.
