Post Count Disabled in Role Playing

Yes, it is time. Role Plays are text-based games, just like the ones in the games section. It's true. Yet I see members daily that spend their entire time online in the Role-Playing section with 6000+ posts. They are just word games, like all the other games that are relocated to the games section. The advanced clause is supposed to stop 10-word posts, but even detailed posts are still part of a game. Just because someone posts an incredibly detailed post in a 'Fool's Game', does that mean that post should count?

There will be a lot of mixed reactions to the disabling of post count in the RP section. People will start rebelling, and getting angered at mods.

 

In order to prevent this problem, I must say no.

 

What we should do instead: have more people report the posts that do not follow the advanced clause, and have the mods deal with them.

 

Posts that follow the advanced clause take up at least 10-30 seconds of a person's life and attention span, so that should be considered alright.

wow this place is becoming more and more of a restricted forum. I disagree with the post count being disabled. The whole point of Dealer Umbra adding the Advanced Claus was 1: to make newer and not so good members become better. 2: To help stop the spam use of this section in order to gain post count.

 

Now if that was implemented for those reasons why the hell must we restrict the post count on it as well. Their are a lot of members who spend their time here just for the few good roleplays. I myself was never into roleplaying for the longest time. But now that I've started and ever since that is where most of my time is spent. Why should we, The few members who are intrested in roleplaying here suffer because of the members who cannot follow rules/ Along with those members who post in it just for post count. Yes I'm not denying that I want a higher post count, but I understand that I must earn them with good quality posts, not one word statements. I believe I speak for most when saying this WILL cause a huge uproar and WILL cause many conflicts/Banning/Flamming/everything anyone can think of.

Your wrong, It does effect me, I like my post count going higher but I don't mind posting quality posts in the RP section to get them, it only makes for better roleplaying. I am not only here for RPing this is just where I spend most of my time. So yes it will affect me as I will no longer be gaining post count. Also yes Post count is important to some people other then just trying to get it the highest. I myself believe as long as the post is of good quality and your not intentionaly trying to spam to recieve a higher post count, then it shows that your dedicated, and that you put great effort into what your doing. I do not wish to argue about this so I will leave it with this, This is my Opinion and everyone else has their rights to their own. Thanks.

Oh yeah, I am a Postwhoar. I didn't want to sit here an argue but your incompetence of understanding that it was my opinion just shows how smart you are. Further more I've been on here for a year an yet I still have under 2500 posts. So yes I'm so posting just because I can. Wow grow up, seriously I'm sick of people on this forum flamming, and being so egotistical. I certainly don't mind my post count growing when I make good quality posts, I on the other hand do think people who Spam and this and that should be punished, as is why the Advanced Clause started. So enough of this arrogant fight and allow people to post their Opinions. Degrading other members opinions also shows that you have no respect nor follow the rules yourself. So I'm going to leave this thread behind before I do something I will regret and get banned.

Roleplaying is far different from the forum games in that you are actually trying to write a story. It's more like a fanfic written by multiple people than it is a game that is detailed. The Fool's Game were in fact moved to Games, and they stay there. Due to your inability to find any good reasons to back up your cause, I must say no.

I've been on here for a year as well, and I have over 5000 posts. I've simple been more active then you, although nowhere nearly as much as some of the other members. In no way do I indicate that I'm better than anyone else with that above comment. Well then, whoop-de-doo for you. You should know, though, that the mods can't promote or punish specific individuals when it comes to post count and the like; it's all or none. From my personal observations, I believe that the quality of the RPing on this site is still not good enough to warrant an increase of post count, especially from the period from before the mandatory clause, which still remains, and what I project to happen after the clause expires and if Umbra doesn't keep it enforced. So enough of this arrogant fight and allow people to post their Opinions. lol. Who's fighting? I'm not; I'm only posting my opinion. :/ Degrading other members opinions also shows that you have no respect nor follow the rules yourself. It should be a restricted forum. That, or people need to learn respect for others. Also to have more patience. People are getting horribly made fun of, and if we are so unlucky (because this is possible, yet will most likely never happen) as to have someone important in society's son or daughter, could possibly tell their parents (which I said are important, like president important) and shut this place down.

 

Possible, but not likely and will never happen, but could.

 

As for the topic, no. Sure, most people don't care about post count, but the idea is about as useless as post count.

I dont see a big problem with getting rid of post count there, but if we do that then we should do the same for clubs, seeing as how those sections are spammier than games most of the time anyway.

 

But due to the Advanced Clause, posts should be becoming more meaningful and with such posts deserve to be counted.

Restricted Post Count in more sections = less YCMers and much less activity in those sections.

 

Even though it's quite spammy there, I still have to say no.

I wasn't around when it first got implemented, but from what I hear, it's supposd to encourage good quality posts in RP's.

I've seen that people are pretty good about reporting those who don't follow this standard, and the RP'ers I do participate a lot with do an excellent job of not wasting Post Counts with meaningless, spammy crap.

If YCM were to stop counting posts in the RP section, then to justify it they would have to stop counting posts in the Fan Fic section, because any comments to those are just random praise saying "This is good", and the like. Just as "spammish".

They would also have to stop in the Clubs section, because Clubs are more like private little chat rooms for certain groups, and certainly usually don't count to anything in the General scheme of YCM.

Personally, I haven't checked my post count in the longest while. I don't really care. But there are those who do good RP'ing, and there are those who like to see that hard work reflected in their post counts. True, there are some rather bad spammers in that forum, but most of my RP'ing mates do really good jobs. Why take away the satisfaction of seeing their hard work in number form just because a few spammers choose to be idjits?

But can anyone deny that RPs are games? They are interactive story-telling games. If there was a rebellion, then surely the Mods have the ability to stop it. The only reason this hasen't been implemented yet is certain people's petty fear of the backlash. I go on a Forum where the entire site except me spend almost their entire time online role-playing. They would never agree with this due to their devout views on role-playing. I think it is ridiculous that people even think Role-Plays aren't games at all. Oh, and GET THE F**K OUT OF MY THREAD CEDEFIA. IF YOU WANT TO SPAM, GO RAISE YOUR POST COUNT IN THE RP SECTION.

 

 

I also find it absolutely ridiculous that certain Moderators feel the need to mock this thread openly. Go write Emo Poetry or something. This shouldn't be reported because it is a formal suggestion. I did not mean to offend or degrade anyone when I started this thread. It is a personal choice and this thread is filled with angry postwhores desperate to supress even the slightest suggestion that could harm their legendary status.

There's nothing wrong with games getting post count, there's just generally an opposition to giving post count to many games that require very little thought and time.
