Story: Don't read if you want to see the movie.

The main character, David Kel winds up with his kids because his divorced wife is off in a business she has to catch up with, so David is with the end of the stick so he plans to go in a camping trip with his kids. His wife, Steph, as she is referred to, ends up alone at her home because the business she had to catch up with was a meeting to discuss her place in the firm she was working at, she got fired. Stranded and desperate to go and try to make amends with her husband because she feels empty in life, she finds out about the Mayan prophecies while making lunch and watching tv. Thinking it is a load of crap she starts laughing. A whole scene is dedicated to explaining about the prophecies but then it is cut short when the power goes out. It all turns dark. The world was, ominous... Clouds open for some day light but then rocks the size of mountains are shown in an angle to go to collide into Earth. A scene is shown where David turns on the radio and hears about the prophecies as well. He then sarcastically says, "ooo, what a coincidence" Then chuckles. As he is about to make a turn he checks his rear window and sees the giant rocks hit Earth. When signs of such marvels are seen, all are shocked by the awesomeness of nature. Natural forces plunge Earth and the story unravels from there on. It's basically a "War of the Worlds" concept where father with kids goes to the ends of the Earth to the mother of the children to reunite. Graphics were ok, but it wasn't epic.

Hope I didn't spoil too much if you read it.

Well, I'm kinda worried. I mean .. this is just what we need. You know some people are gonna see the movie and then panic for the next 3 years. It's gonna be like all others. It's gonna be like a new mini Y2K for some people. Let's face it, there are always gonna be the end of the world prophecies .. i mean how many times people said the world was gonna end. (every millenium, random dates). People aren't good at reading prophecies. And all this movie is gonna do is make more people aware of this prophecy, but is anyone gonna do the research bout it ... yeah right.

I think this was overall a bad idea. Also ... all these apolcalyptic movies are starting to look the same (armageddon, day after tomorrow, etc)

But I can't conclusively say. I haven't seen it, and probably won't. The movie may be executed well, but i still say the idea was a little risky.

Also ... aren't the crystal skulls paired with this prophecy. Are they mentioned anywhere in the movie?

The trailer scared the crap outta me, cause I was only listening, not watching. When it said something about a website my heart went berserk.

Then I saw the movie stuff on screen I was like "wtf".

btw I think the 2012 theory is just...well another theory. It got blown outta proportions and here we are.

It is risky promoting things like that.

I'm not going to watch it even if they tie me to a seat and keep my eyes open with glue or something.-.-

OMG I CANT WAIT FOR 2012 TO COME OUT THE GRAPHICS LOOK AWESOME AND ALMOST EVERYONE KNOWS THE IDEA BEHIND IT BUT STILL' date=' WHAT WILL YOU EXPECT?

[/quote']

A POT-POURRI OF METAPHYSICAL/PSEUDO-SCIENTIFIC/MOSTLY ASTROLOGICAL THEORIES COMBINED.

Sorry but I don't see what the big deal about this is.=/

Haven't seen the movie yet but I probably won't cause I think the prophecies of 2012 are a bunch of bullcrap. If the Mayans could predict the "end of the world" why couldn't they predict the end of their civilization?

It's not only about the Mayans but a lot of theories seem to coincide with the year 2012. Just like 2000.

The end of the Mayan calendar is associated with 2012 though I haven't found a source which tells me that it is 100% what they meant to say' date=' and so are the planetary alignment (oh really? and if yes, so what?), the rise of the Schumann waves (mind my English ._., I think they're called like that) and a bunch of predictions of people who think they have alien senses and more awesome abilities than everyone else.

It's not even about the end of the world but rather a new era of the Earth.

Mother Earth, sorry.

After humans have wrecked the face of our planet, our current era reaches its climax in 2012 before entering a new, [i']better[/i] one.

The planet gets the time to regenerate itself (which of course doesn't work without sacrifices) and some theories talk about aliens coming to Earth and activating the 7 chakras of everyone, etc.

Mostly it's the New Age movement which has pushed the whole 2012 business. Actually their moral values are exemplary but I don't know if they're aware or not that they're causing a lot of panic, trouble and idealist pipedreams with that... A lot.-.-

Of course if people want to believe into that they can but for me, I noticed there are so many theories around that I stopped believing into anything I read about.

Oh, my, God.

2012 is complete bullshit.

The world will not end in 2012.

The world was supposed to end in 2000.

The world was supposed to end in 2008.

The world was supposed to end in 1000.

The world was supposed to end in 1.

The world will not end this time.

The Mayans could not have predicted our demise.

This movie is not based on a true event.

I haven't seen the trailer, link please?

My comment on the movie:

Let me get this straight. Hundreds of meteors will randomly pop out of the sky, kill us all, rape our dead bodies then Earthquakes will come along and "rock us" all night long.. 0.o. If the comets really were coming, astronomers would have found out months, if not years earlier than it was meant to happen. So this theory = Fail.
