Enma Ai
Okay, This will work on most Images, I find it has a better effect On Photographs.
I will be Using the Above Image for this Tutorial This tutorial is Done on Adobe Photoshop CS4. If you try I think you can Transfer it to GIMP. Any Questions? Just Ask. This is First in a Series of Tuts done By Me. This is a very Easy and Basic. Even a Nub could follow this.
Open your Picture in Photoshop. Do this by going to "File > Open" and then Select your Picture
When your picture is Open Duplicate it Twice, Do this by Right Clicking your Images Layer and pressing "Duplicate Layer". Then Delete the Original Images Layer.
Set the Blending Style of the Top Layer to "Overlay". Congrats you have now Upgraded the Color of your image. This should be your result (look in the Next Spoilers)

Doing this with an image is a base for around 10 Different tuts, so its handy to have around. I hope you enjoyed it. I would like to see peoples Results. Remember this is the Basic of Basics, I know that so please do not make any comments Based about how Basic it is.

Enma Ai
Gradient maps arent that basic, I didnt know how to use them for like, 2 weeks since I got Photoshop. But I just prefer to do it this way, its only a 5 minute thing so no biggie. Also, thanks to everyone that liked it.
Skippy Canoe
I love this tut. Normally I bring out the color in images by increasing the Saturation. This looks a lot better, though. ^_^
