Emo started in 2006-2007 and these guys were banded way before that (thats how I got title). Anyway, discuss, give opinions, etc ^-^.

Personal Opinion -

The lyrics really speak to me. The lead singer, Jacoby (as he is called), has an outstanding voice which perfectly suits the music they produce. Many people call them "Emo", which is NOT true. Evidence of this is that these guys banded way before "Emo" started (2006-2007). However, I see them as the trendsetters of "Emo"... [/b][/i][/align]

These guys simply rule. They do look like an Emo band to me.

Agreed ^-^

Jeff Buckley was emo before they even fathomed a band.

Difference? Buckley ain't no corporate cocksucker.

Never heard of Buckley >.<

Bullshit' date=' Emo formed in the 90s with Sunny Day Real Estate, the godfathers of Emo.

I also find Papa Roach to be anything but Emo. Their music fits in no way to the Emo genre. Give me one good reason to call them Emo?

[/quote']

Lol, I wouldn't know much about the Sunny Day Real Estate, they were around when I was born so I wouldn't remember them..... >.<

Listen to them. You'll see what I mean. They're better than that bullshit "Emo" music you hear today. Emo is always used wrong, it puts me to shame.

To Sin:

It's Buckley' date=' not Sunny.

Sure, Wikipedia classifies him under alt-rock and folk, but Buckley defined what emo would become in latter years.

And, no, if Papa Roach is emo, then President Kennedy, I am a Berliner!

[/quote']

On topic, when did this go from music discussion to debates about the meaning of emo?

That is true. Buckly orginated Emo, but SDRE was the one that turned what Emo was today.

I'm not emo, but these guys are cool! My favorite songs is Last Resort and Blood Brothers.

It's in our nature to destroy ourselves,

it's in our nature to kill ourselves,

it's in our nature to kill eachother,

it's in out nature to KILL, KILL, KILL!

That line is just so true and epic.

That's one of the 3 or 4 songs I enjoy by them.

That song, Between Angels and Insects (which if you listen closely, they stole a melody from Iron Maiden), Dead Cell, and Broken Home.

Broken Home sucks >.<

The beat is terrible and what the song is based on is just the same
