@ Anyone: The second half of "A Sinister Test". The first half is on the last page.

A Sinister Test
4.]

Turn 4

Aki

Aki looked behind her at the smoldering remnants of her dragon as they disappeared into the distance.

“Draw! I Summon Hedge Guard in Defense Position and Set 1 card face-down.”

“Running low on options are we?” Taunted Akira. Aki remained silent.

Turn 5

Akira

“Draw. I activate Speed Spell-Card of Demise. I draw until I hold five cards. Then, in five turns, I have to discard my entire hand, regardless of its size. Very well.” Akira drew and grinned at the drawn cards. “I activate the Continuous Spell, Speed Spell-Convulsion Nature. A simple effect with game-changing applications.”

“What?” Aki asked, rather impatiently.

“We both turn our Decks upside down.” Akira replied. Aki was shocked at the bizarre, perhaps unique effect, but like Akira, inverted her Deck.

“Now, I activate Speed Spell-Archfiend’s Oath. Once per turn, by paying 500 Life Points, I can declare a card’s name. If that card happens to be the card on the top of my Deck, then I can add it to my hand. If not, I discard it. Let’s do this!” (Akira LP: 2900 → 2400) Akira simply glanced at the card on the top of his Deck, now revealed. “I choose Zero Gravity!” He said quickly, before drawing the card and in mock surprise, confirmed it to Aki.

“And now for your monster. Demon Dekoichi, incinerate it!” Another torrent of dark fire washed over Aki’s Hedge Guard, reducing it to ash. “I Set two cards and end my turn.”

Aki

“Draw! I-“ Aki started.

“First, one of the cards my Avatar of the Illuminati removed returns to your hand. And secondly…Trap activate! This card, Drop Off, forces you to discard the card you just drew!” Akira sadistically interrupted. As Aki sent the card to her Graveyard, Akira decelerated to draw alongside his opponent once again. Looking down at the top card of Aki’s Deck, he grinned and accelerated ahead again.

“I Set 1 card face-down and end my turn.” Aki softly said, still recovering from the power combination of cards her opponent continued to use.

Turn 6

Akira

“Draw! I activate Speed Spell-Archfiend’s Oath’s effect, declaring Speed Spell-Unity!” (Akira LP: 2400 → 1900) Once again, he simply picked up the card and added it, starting to relish the torment he was putting his opponent through. “I activate my face-down card, Conscription. I pick up the top card of your Deck, and if it’s a monster that can be Normal Summoned, it is Special Summoned to my side of the field, while if it isn’t, it’s added to your hand.” Spinning around to face her, Akira’s tone became more insulting. “Unfortunately, I already know the outcome of this endeavor, after all, your Deck is in plain sight. The top card of your Deck is Rose Witch, and it can be Normal Summoned, so it comes to me!” Aki’s Deck glowed momentarily, before a beam of purple light shot upward, arcing over and landing in one of Akira’s Monster Card Zones, forming into her monster.

The newly-formed dragon swooped down to carry Aki’s D-Wheel, before soaring into the sky. Both duelists’ marks burned strongly as the power of the Crimson Dragon bore down on the duel.

“Majestic Rose Dragon is unaffected by Spell and Trap Cards, so your face-down cards won’t help you! And now my dragon negates the effect of your Avatar of the Illuminati, reduces its ATK to 0 and switches it to Attack Position. This will end it! Battle, Majestic Rose Dragon attacks Avatar of the Illumanti! Triumphant Rose Flare!” The dragon accelerated, becoming cloaked in a dark red aura, lunging towards Akira’s monster.

“I’m sorry.” He said quietly, before activating his two face-down cards. “I activate Zero Gravity! It switches the battle position of all monsters on the field. Your dragon won’t change, but my D.D. Trainer and Demon Dekoichi are switched to Attack Position while my Avatar of the Illuminati is returned to Defense Position.”

“Then, I activate Speed Spell-Unity. During this turn, one face-up monster I control gains DEF equal to the DEF of all other monsters I control. Both my Demon Dekoichi and D.D. Trainer have 2000 DEF, meaning my Avatar gains 4000 DEF.” Aki’s eyes widened at the sudden futility of her actions, but the power of the Crimson Dragon drove her to continue. Akira watched as the blazing dragon slammed into his monster, which grabbed the opposing force’s four wings with its own four arms, before throwing the wyvern to the ground.

The Rose Dragon slammed into the ground and rolled numerous times, before its outer shell collapsed and Aki’s D-Wheel emerged. The dragon’s body drained of colour until it became a husk and reformed into Black Rose Dragon. (Aki LP: 400 → 100)

Wobbling slightly on her motorcycle, Aki weakly spoke, “Turn end.”

Turn 8

Akira

Looking back at his opponent’s burnt and damaged D-Wheel, Akira knew that this turn would finish it, in more ways than one.

“Draw! Demon Dekoichi attacks Black Rose Dragon!” As the monster charged its attack, a D-Wheel shot over the flames that lined the duel track. Hiro’s. Riding alongside Akira, he said simply.

“End this. I’ve seen enough.”

“But I’ll win! Isn’t that you wanted?” Akira asked, confused.

“No. What I wanted was an indication of your strength. And now I have that.” Hiro replied. “You have no grudge against her correct?” Akira nodded. “She killed me, not you. And this is my fight. You have helped me, but you’ve done all I need of you.” Akira relaxed, causing the flames to die down and the monsters to disappear. Hiro slowed to drift alongside Aki.

Looking across, and seeing the fear he’d seen the first time, he smiled slightly.

“Our fight is yet to come. You will pay for your crimes.” With that, the two Dark Signers accelerated into the night, leaving Aki cruising slowly along the highway.

She stopped, and stared into the black sky. Questions flooded her mind, with one appearing over and over. Why were these Dark Signers so different to the originals? What set them apart? Certainly, they seemed more determined, but why? Something was different this time round, but what? Aki didn’t move as the heavens opened, soaking the area in dark rain.

@ Striker: Those Newb Pot donations are so out of date (even Lrovani didn't update them) I have no idea how many points the Newb Pot actually has. I can provide a rough estimate of 6250 points, donated by over 25 different people, but actual amounts are completely unknown and cannot be recovered.

Welcome to N.D.L., sporty.

Enjoy your stay.

I am so sorry I haven't been mmuch online, but school has been way too demanding lately. I've spent my entrie weekend, as you know, practising to tests on both Monday and Tuesday, having two performances of Ten-Sing's revue, and I'm going to have a half-day test today as well.

How are things going?

Necro, did you figure out this thing with the girl, whose name I cannot at the moment remember?

@ Ursus: What's with the humble apology? None of us are on enough to throw stones (spot the overused reference), so why? We know you've got a busy life so chill.

Also, as for the featured card on the first post, I was thinking of changing it regularly with contributions from you guys. Send me a good card and I'll consider posting it.

I do suppose you are talking about Sarah's cousin. Well, Sarah's cousin pretty much ignores me, so I guess problem solved.

Accepted.

max that card conscription isn't it for your opponent?

No.

An example. It's my opponent's turn and my field is empty' date=' except for "Convulsion of Nature" and a face-down "Conscription". As such, I can see the top card of my opponent's Deck is "Kuraz the Light Monarch". I activate "Conscription", picking up the top card (Kuraz) and Special Summoning it, since it can be Normal Summoned.

I activate "Kuraz"'s effect, blowing up two cards my opponent controls and I have a 2400 ATK beat-stick, all before my opponent starts their Main Phase.

"Archfiend's Oath" is equally abusable, since you know which card is on the top of your Deck, removing chance and replacing it with an ability to read...
321244i.jpg
Pay 1500 Lifepoints. This card can only be activated if you have less than 2000 Lifepoints after you pay Lifepoints. This card is also treated as a Quick-Play Spell. During your Standby Phase, you can send one monster to your graveyard from your Extra Deck or your Deck or return one monster from your Graveyard to your Deck or Extra Deck.

First, change to a Quick-Play Spell Card.

Activate only while you have 3500 or less Life Points and by paying 2000 Life Points. After activation, this card is treated as a Continuous Spell Card. Once per turn, during your Standby Phase, you can send 1 Monster Card in your Deck or Extra Deck to your Graveyard or return 1 Monster Card in your Graveyard to your Deck or Extra Deck.

Now...just how broken did you want this card to be? An endless recycle card that restocks not only your Main Deck but your Extra Deck.

"Oh, you just beat my Junk Warrior! No worries!"

(Next Standby Phase)

"Now I've got it back!"

(Main Phase)

"I Summon Junk Synchron and a Level 2, return to me Junk Warrior!"

So, no matter what your opponent does, it can both return your destroyed monsters, or even dump them in the Graveyard for summoning or effect costs.

All cards that return cards to your Deck are either Limited or Semi-Limited and at best they return 2 cards (save for "Pot of Avarice") and are one-shots. As long as you keep this on the field, you have almost complete control of your Deck and Graveyard, something that is incredibly broken.

Suddenly, every single self-mill card is cost-less since you can simply return the fodder to your Deck the next turn...

321244cr.jpg
Activate only if you control "Desperate Times". During your Main Phase you can Special Summon one monster(it cannot attack' date=' apply its effect, be used for a tribute/ritual/synchro Summon until your next Turn) in your Graveyard or set 1 Spell or Trap Card in from your Graveyard(it cannot be activated until your opponent's Main Phase). You cannot activate this card for a card destroyed or sent to the graveyard this turn.

[/quote']

And another endless recycler...

Activate only while you control a face-up "Desperate Times". Once per turn, you can Set 1 Spell or Trap Card from your Graveyard OR Special Summon 1 monster from your Graveyard in face-up Attack Position. (It cannot attack, activate its effect or be removed from the field for a Summon until after your opponent's End Phase.) Cards sent to the Graveyard during this turn cannot be targeted by this card's effect.

I can sum this up in one question: What happened to "Monster Reborn"? Oh yes, it was banned.

527090y.jpg
(This card can only be sychro summoned with 1 tuner + 1 or more non-tuner monsters.) This Card can attack as many times as their are monsters on your opponents side of the field.

This card goes to the graveyard at the end of the battle phase' date='unless this card was special summoned from the graveyard.

You can special summon this card from the graveyard by discarding your hand and paying half of your life points.

[/quote']

*Looks at the DIVINE Synchro and vomits...*

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

This card can attack each monster your opponent controls once. At the end of the Battle Phase of the turn this card was Summoned, this card is sent to the Graveyard. You can Special Summon this card from your Graveyard by paying half your Life Points and discarding your entire hand.

1. It's a Synchro. 2. It's a DIVINE Synchro. 3. You get it out, then let it destroy itself and then during your opponent's next turn, use "Call of the Haunted" to have a 3000 ATK and DEF beatstick that can attack everything your opponent has.

The only other monsters that can attack everything are "Ally of Justice - Thousand Arms", "Asura Priest" and "Berserk Dragon". The Ally destroys itself automatically if it doesn't battle a LIGHT monster; the Priest is a Spirit so returns itself at the end of the turn, and the Dragon cannot be Normal Summoned and loses 500 ATK during each of your turns.

This on the other hand is incredibly easy to summon, obliterates your opponent's field (the Ally and Priest only have 1700 ATK) and then can be easily brought back...

I know these rates probably sound quite harsh, but that's because I am always cynical when presented with Synchro monsters or recycle cards. I see them as broken from the start, so I have an unsympathetic approach to them.
