Every type of Monarch deck needs to main-deck Treeborn Frog.

What about Macro Monarch? I don't really see how TF fits in a Macro Monarch deck.

Well' date=' three things:

  1. You're an idiot if you run Macro Monarch.
  2. There's going to be a good load of times when you've got dead Monarchs in your hand, but no fodder.
  3. It's just one card, and you only bring it back when you need it; opponent nukes the field, you top deck, all set.

Not everybody runs it like you do and not everybody plays against the players that you play.

Opponent nukes the field, opponent wins the game.

That's what happens most of the time after a field nuke.

Yeah, those last two are true. Not so sure about the first one though, since Macro Monarch has a lot of cards that remove other cards from play, so they could do pretty well against decks that need a Graveyard.

Regardless, why would you not run Frog?

macro monarchs.

Doesn't matter how bad you think the build is' date=' it is one and it stupid to use Treeborn here since it will only get removed, unless your unLucky and don't draw into one of your removal cards

Excuse me, but which Macro Monarch variety instantly removes all cards previously in your graveyard?

ITT: Soul Exchange' date=' Dandylion, and other tribute fodder doesn't exist.

How will you get it in the grave before you have your removal card out. Macro builds should be able to get one of their cards out with in the first few turns. Odds of you drawing into this or Foolish before you set up aren't good. Not only that but once you do get them out it becomes next to useless unless your opponent uses Heavy and clears your backrow. Their is also the fact that once you get the removal card out this is a dead draw.

i agree with tea for once.

but its mostly because i feel that any and all macro decks are pretty fail-ish.

given this meta, cards like dfissure and macro are prone to getting blown up.

like, i can almost safely say that one out of 5 cards, if not more, in any meta deck, is capable of destroying a continuous st.

in fact, i'm going to argue that in 90% of all starting hands for meta decks will be capable of destroying a continuous st.

ls are so gay.

anyway, macro monarch is another deck that looks amazing on paper, but doesnt meet those standards irl. like counter fairies.

you have to expect that you wont have removal in place 100% of the time, and that your removal wont hit all of your cards. that being said, its very situational to say treeborn will escape and be useful to you.

anyway, i think its a sidedeck option in macro, if not main deck.

and well, all other monarchs need to run it.

staple.

This is exactly what I'm talking about!

Macro will run 7 removal cards, usually, 9 at the most; they're all very easily destroyed.

Furthermore, once they're gone, you're left with around 6 to 12 dead cards, that's more than 1/2 gone.

Treeborn Frog at least gives you access to Monarchs, leaving you an out.

I love how everybody came into this topic trying to the flame the everliving out of tea by using the response 'lolmacromonarch'.

Most Monarch decks do run Treeborn, yes. With the exception of Macro, most of the time, you should run Treeborn.
