The first Yu-Gi-Oh cards were made in April 1998 by Bandai. The first set released is referred to as Bandai OCG: First Generation. While many of the monsters would later appear in Konami's later version that we know today, the Bandai version contained character cards of Yugi, Joey and others.

 

So the first official cards made were the 42 cards in this set.

 

Release Date: April 4th, 1998

Set Size: 42 Cards (from #001 to #042)
