The Greatness
The Tasmanian Adventure of Bernard Longcape: The Search BeginsLength: 1,336 words[spoiler=Chapter One: The Start of the Journey]I was running, my heart rushing. I couldn’t control my feet, I just kept going forward… faster and faster, I wouldn’t stop. The adrenaline had already token over my body and it was starting to hurt. But I guess it was for the good, because there are warriors chasing me…. Why? Because I just stole their Most Valuable Possession, the duel monster, “Purus of Andromeda”. I just kept my head forward, not turning back to look at the angry, fierce beast. Luckily they were only armed with swords no ranged weapon. But something happened that I didn’t want to happen, I fell. I was running like a wild fugitive, but I was so carried away I didn’t look where I was going, I tripped on the root of an oak tree that had it’s roots spread out all over the place. I fell face first. It hurt, I couldn’t lie, but I had to keep running. But unfortunately that wasn’t the case. My hand was stuck between two branches. They cut up… fast. Pulling wildly, I cried. My end was near. I screamed and pouted, as I still tried to pull my hand away. “Stop! Please! I’ll give you the card!” I said this, but I didn’t want to do what I had just shouted. Oh, and why I wanted this card so bad? Here’s the story: . . . It was the afternoon of my birthday. It was an “ok” birthday because I had gotten a great gift from my mom, a new video game and $20. That might not seem like an “ok” birthday, but my dad hadn’t given me anything, yet. It was the big “1-4”. Last year he took me to see a duel monster tournament, but when I asked to play it myself, it said the game was too dangerous. I was mad and furious and I still am since he hadn’t even given me anything this year. But I still waited. I left the room I was in, the living room, and I went straight outside from there. Calling out to my friend, I see my dad approach me. He took careful steps, which I don’t seem why, because it looked like he was pretending to scare me or be a ninja or something…. “I see you dad, you can’t hide.” I said. My dad replied, “Well, I know you do, I wasn’t trying to hide. If you didn’t see me I would have to take you to the eye doctor, on your birthday. That wouldn’t be so nice would it.” “Speaking of my birthday-“ I spoke in an even-tone getting cut off. “ “Yes, I did get you something. Here it is,” he pulled something out of his pocket in a silver case. He opened it up, and showed it to me. It read, “Validus of Milky Way”. I asked him what it was, and he told me to take a closer look. I stared deeply at it, and after a moment I realized it was a duel monster, an actual duel monster. I snatched it from his hand yelling, “Oh dad! How awesome! Thanks! Thank you very much!” My dad grabbed my shoulder as I said this and leaned in to my ear, “There’s more, but you need to search for them…. And what I mean by that is, that this card is a very rare card. One of the 50 banned cards from Egypt. You see, my dad gave me this, because his grandfather found this and past it on to his son and continued from there. I want you to have it. Don’t tell anyone about it’s secret because they’ll be wanting it.I was in shock, I was speechless. I hugged him. I hugged him so hard and quick that it was like being struck by lightning without feeling the pain afterwards. After I looked at the card more, I asked, “What do you mean banned? Why was it banned?” He responded, by padding me on the bat, and replying in a soft tone, “Because it was. You’ll find out sooner or later. You should visit your family more….” I was mad and happy at the same time. Happy because I had gotten my first duel card and mad because I didn’t get what he was saying and he wouldn’t tell me more about the card. Thinking to myself about dueling, I realized that I need a whole deck of 50 cards. At that moment I realized what he was saying.I ran inside and yelled out to my parents, “I’m going to grandpa’s house!” I scurried back out and dashed to my grandparent’s house. It wasn’t two far, it was just two streets over. And when I was running into the yard and up the steps to the house, I thought to myself the joy of having a complete set. I rang the doorbell and knocked on the door… I did both to make sure they heard someone was at the door. When the door opened, I saw my grandpa. I hugged him and said hi. He greeted me with the grandpa to grandson words, such as, “How ya’ been? I haven’t seen you in years!” or “You grew so tall! How old are you now?” And of course I played along and answered him respectfully and honorably. I followed him through the house and into the living room, but on our way to the room, I greeted my grandma, so it took a while. Anyways, we sat down on the couches and he said to me, “So what brings you down, you never come unless you’re with your parents. What do you need?” I smiled and laughed and showed him the card. “This” I said, as he took it from my hands. “Wow, ‘Validus of Milky Way’ on of the Duel Cards of Tasmania.” He spoke in shock. I replied in confusion, “My dad said that was one of the banned cards from Egypt?” “Indeed it is. When it was Banned from Egypt, the ‘Great Ones’ took them and went off with them. No one knew where they went; the last person to see them was a young man in Tasmania. He was then said to be missing and was never found since.” “That’s an amazing and weird story. Anyways, not to sound rude cutting off your story, but my dad said I would found out the whole story over time, and I was just wondering if you have anymore of these ‘banned cards’.” I said in a rush. “Opened up a drawer and took out a set of cards, “This is all I have… so far.” He said. I didn’t dare to question him, when he said, “so far”, but I took it from his hands and thanked him.So I left the house and I haven’t even looked at the cards yet. But I just scurried home. . . . And now going back to a more present-time, the time where I was stuck by the hands, because of two branches. I cried for help, but no one came or even heard me. The guards all left up their swords around me and the swords glowed. They glowed a bright yellow that soon turned to a great white sparkle. They said an enchantment of some sword, shouting the words, “Great Purus, The guardian of Andromeda and the King of all things pure, Please give us your judgment and give this boy what he needs to endure”. As they said this, the great white sparkle soon became a light brighter than that of the sun. The card glowed in my hand and they suddenly said have it, for 10 gold (which was equivalent to $200, where I was and luckily an elder man gave me 50). I gave them the gold and they left. One of them told me that there was a Field card special for this one and that an elder man had it. I figure out it was the same man, that gave me the 50 gold to survive here. I had to tug the branch for 2 minutes just to pull my hands free and I was thankful. Chapters come out every two-three days. The release date of chapters will be presented in the previous chapter.: Cards presented in this chapter: [spoiler=Validus of Milky Way and Purus of Andromeda]
