Koshej
WiiOmiI so much wanted to mention the refernce to PP - but you did it instead. :DDude, it's time to grow up and feel the difference between fairy tales and real life. And also - real life can be much more fantastic than any fairy tale will ever be... :D
Milk-Chan
What if God/[insert your deity of choice here] created the Big Bang?Pokes a hole in religion AND keeps scientist confizzled.
Koshej
Milk-ChanIn some way, G-d did create the Big Bang - creation ex nihilo is pretty close to it since you have to start with something anyways. But the main point of threads like this one is to put religion and science on opposite sides of the ring.Even if G-d did create something similar to BB, there was nothing before it!BB or no BB, the question argued about is creation ex nihilo, not so much BB itself.I see the sequence like this:STEP 1. There's nothing but G-d. Absolutely nothing.STEP 2. There happens creation ex nihilo with or without BB.STEP 3. We're still living in it.
Darth Duelist
well...bigbang sounds more realistic. i believe in god, but sometimes i wonder: how could 1 person make such a huge place?
Tortoise Kyle
God can't exist because if he did, i'd have died of sin when i was 2.And explosions made from nothing are cool.If god existed though, id imagine him as a dog :P
Milk-Chan
Speaking of sins, who are we as humans to determine what a Deity, real or not, whom we have yet to meet in a real way, considers what is a sin, and what is not? Lest this Deity of your choice comes to our little big planet( Game reference ftw ), and tells us what we should and should not do, I don't believe that sins should be real. A sin is an action or event stated by man that other men should not do. By trying not to commit sins is like worshiping this human being, because you are listening to the rules and laws that he made up. I use the term worship loosely, however. When you do not accept Religion the very first time, and you consider Atheism( which I do not want to do ), you think of these things. I could go on longer, but I think I've made my point.
Dark
*facepalm**headdesk* The reason thinking God created the Big Bang is irrational is because they both explain the same thing. God came to my room yesterday. Guess what he told me. He said I couldn't have godly powers. So I burned a picture of Jesus. I then stuck up my middle finger to a preist. Is that a sin? Where is my punishment?
Koshej
You guys are so primitive sometimes... Darth DuelistOne HUMAN definitely not - but only an idiot would compare G-d to a human. turtleking281That's exactly what we call "free choice".People don't get burned immediately for doing bad things - doesn't mean it doesn't get "recorded" somewhere to be reminded later. Also - you're so "smart" inventing new insults to G-d.He's been confused with lots of stupidities for millenia... Milk-ChanI'll repeat myself - stop confusing what certain people do claiming they are doing it for religion, and what that religion actually tells them to do.Also, do you think that "not to kill" falls under your description???Then you're just weird - or a maniac. :DAlso, G-d DID contact various people through history. The biggest audience until now (min 3 million people) was gathered around Mount Sinai 3500 years ago. DarkG-d IS irrational simply because He's not bound by our logic. Why? Because logic is also a part of Creation and can't affect the Creator. Etc. etc. etc...
Dark
That is like saying (assuming I was female) I give birth to a boy, therefore the boy cannot kill me when he gets older, as I created him. Stop writing "God" as "G-d".
Koshej
DarkThe boy will become separate entity from you - which is not so with G-d and the world.Everything is part of Him even if we feel otherwise. That's exactly how it was "programmed" to work - in order to have a free choice, we need the ability to err because of lack of true information. In Hebrew, world is "olam" and hidden is "helem" - same root words.World is what hides G-d from us - so that we would seek Him through our free choice. And it's my way to write G-d - you can write it however you want.Just remember that there are pagan "gods" but there's only One G-d. :D
Dark
Unfortunatley, your post makes no sense to me. Could you possibly rephrase it?
Koshej
DarkYou speak of A creating B as a separate thing. But G-d didn't create world to become separate from Him!It's just OUR feeling that we're separate - in reality there's nothing except G-d.And by nothing I really mean totally nothing - everything is a part of G-d, but G-d is not only the sum of everything - He's more than that.We were given the feeling of separation to use our abilty of free choice and discover G-d through the world's obscurity.I know it sound weird for someone who's new to this idea - but that's what it is.And that's why the very idea of "proving G-d" is stupid because He made it _physically_ impossible on purpose. We need to find the truth ourselves - but we're able to do it too!G-d is waiting for each and everyone to draw close to Him - we just have to start trying and He will help us to reach the goal.We just need to WANT to try... :D
Dark
So you are telling me that God does not want to be discovered, and he wants more and more people to question his existance? Totally rational. Also, I burned a picture of Jesus yesterday and stuck my middle finger up to a preist. Where is my punishment?

Dark
Right, but we have no proven information about what happens after you die. 100% of that is speculation, albeit the fact you decompose.
Koshej
DarkHe WANTS to be discovered (that's why He created the world with us to begin with). But He wants US to do it - and through strong obstacles of this world. Why? Ask Him!But that's what it is.The second question is not addressed to me to begin with - I'm Jewish. :D OMGAKITTYWell, not 100%.But, yeah, that's what I'm telling for the few last posts - the results of our free choice are obscured from us until it's too late to change anything. But we do know what we should do.It's the matter of free choice - to believe or not to believe. :D

Dark
33% of the world is Christian. I think we should bash that first, and then move on to the less-large religions.
Womi
May I summarize? No god. Big Bang.
Nuchiha101
Big Bang is 100% impossible. There was no oxygen for the explosion. No oxygen = No explosion, And No oxygen = No spark.
Koshej
Nuchiha101That's just lame...BB is meant to be more of a spatial "explosion" from a singular point into 3D - nothing to do with oxidation (or any other chemical reaction).I still say BB is BS anyways. :D
Nuchiha101
Any type of explosion requires Oxygen. If there is no oxygen then the explosion and the soundwaves can't travel. Since the sound waves can't travel a explosion is impossible.
