Here's my new fanfic, Yu-Gi-Oh! Battle Mania! This fanfic sort of tries to lead Yu-Gi-Oh away from the card game aspect and into a little more of an intense enviroment. Anyway i'll probably update a chapter a day.

[spoiler=Prolouge]

The year is 2011, and a new Yu-Gi-Oh craze has taken the spot of the card game. Yu-Gi-Oh! Battle Mania! Duelists buy a scanner, and have a deck of 10 monsters and 5 spells and traps. Each round you choose 1 monster from your deck, and battle your opponent, after each round the loser must swap monsters, and each player can play spell cards. But this game is not cheap, not only does it hurt players, if abused it can kill people. Mark is just an average teenager, long dusty blonde hair hung over his striking blue eyes. He had a small and moderate silver scanner strapped to his arm, a lot smaller then a duel disk all it was was a metal wristband with a slot for a card. Engraved on the side of the scanner was:

Property of Project Icarus.

Mark was testing out a new duel scanner for Project Icarus, supposedly reducing the pain and making the chance of dying nil. Luckily he was the only one with this prototype, and this is the story of his Chronicles as a Battle Duelist.

[spoiler=Chapter 1]

Mark pushed his way through the crowd, trying to get a good veiw of the tournaments current battle. He gulped as he realised he would soon be on the stage, fighting a vicious battle. He finally managed to get a good veiw and stared at the duelist's, it was the final round of the tournament, these matches usually lasted 3 rounds, the best out of 3.

Both of the duelist's look pretty beat up, scruffy, cuts and bruises smothered there body.

"Heh.. It's not over yet." One of the boys muttered as he slid a marauding captain into his scanners slot.

A light flashed over the stage, temporarily blinding everyone. When we came to our senses the mighty captain stood there, his shining sword lumped on his back.

"Let's see what 'ya got." The captain arrogantly yelled at his opponent.

"You will!" The other boy yelled, much more arrogantly.

He held his prized card in the air, a Stardust Dragon. He sent the required cards from his hand away into the bottom of the scanner and threw the stardust into the main slot. He gave a cheeky grin as the same blinding white light filled the stage. We gained our senses much more easily this time, and the magnificent dragon was standing there.

That captain has no chance... Mark thought.

"Let the battle, comence!" The obnoxious loud speaker boomed.

Quickly they sprang into action, Stardust soared into the air, his scales glistening in the noon's sun. Marauding Captain braced himself, holding his sword high up in the air, ready to take on the incoming dragon. Stardust hurled itself towards the captain, straight into his sword, quickly he flew to the side of the captain, and let off a magnificent ball of light. The captain had no chance, quickly it ripped through him, spilling blood across the stage; the smell of burnt flesh filled the air. Both duelists quickly returned to there human form, the Captain's controller was on the floor, severe burns smothering his beaten up body. He was quickly carried out on a stretcher.

"And the winner is Jack Fry!" The loudspeaker boomed.

"Next contestant's, Mark Goodwin Versus Yari Adam!" It continued.

Mark swalloed his fear and treked up to the stage, it seemed like a life time with all of the cameras and lights flashing. He was truley scared, that was the thrill of being a Battle Duelist, every duel was life threatening...

[spoiler=Chapter 2]

He stood there, facing his opponent, Yari Adam. He seemed like an intelligent person. He had delicate black reading glasses perched on his pale face. His scanner was a royal gold colour, and jewels seemed to be embedded into it.

"So your who I'm facing?" Mark tried to joke with the person opposite him.

There was no response, only a snide snigger.

"Let the battle... COMMENCE!" The loudspeaker boomed once more.

Quickly Yari sprang into action, he drew his hand and smiled at it. He threw a Mezuki into the slot of the scanner, but before the familiar bright light filled the stage he played a spell card, Violet Crystal.

"I'm sure you know what this does? It makes it even easier to beat you." Yari arrogantly spoke.

The familliar bright light was replaced by a different sight, a shroud of shadow fell over Yari, an arrogant grin still present on his face. The shroud began to twist and swirl, and when it had eventually faded a fearful beast stood there, a shining halberd embedded with a violet crystal. He pulsated with power as he waited for mark to make his move.

Mark drew his cards, and smiled at them. He had a choice from 3 "Gunslinger" cards, and a helpful equip spell. He pondered his choices, and decided that "Gunslinger Master - Adam" would be his best choice, after all when he played with the card before it was very swift and efficient. He made his choice and held up the shining card in the air, letting everyone stare at it for a brief second before he threw it into the slot.

"And before you start this match, I'm going to play a spell card aswell!" Mark yelled, confident with his monster.

He threw the equip spell "Intensive Training" onto his silver scanner.

"It make's my monster that little bit extra, whats the word... Hmm...Swift?" Mark grinned in a sarcastic manner.

Sand was kicked up around Mark as he began to transform, twisting and twirling around his weak body, transforming him into the chosen card. It lasted for at least a minute, and when the dust faded an arrogant cowboy stood there, a shining revolver in his left hand, and a carving knife in the other hand. His smooth brown hat sat on his dusty blonde hair, and his scruffy trousers were ladened with lots of bullets, shell's and knives.

"Let's go!" The two contestants yelled in unison.

Yuri was the first to make his move, he tried charging towards the cowboy, but failed miserably. The cowboy made a swift flip over Mezuki's head and aimed easily at the violet crystal on his weapon. An incredible bang echoed throughout the arena as the bullet flew through the air, ripping the violet crystal from his now dusty weapon. Mark smiled as the crystal was soaring through the air, Mezuki was trying to recover, he had lost almost all of his power that was embedded into the stone. Quickly Mark leapt into the air swiftly and efficiently grabbing the crystal in his hand. He absorbed the power from it, but by this time Yuri was charging once again.

The blow landed hard as blood drained from Mark's body. The halberd was deeply impaled into his stomach. Mark's cheeky grin faded, but he smiled as he rose his gun up into the air, a point blank shot on Yuri was easily available. And he took his chance, the bang echoed through the stadium, and blood spilled across the crowd as the shot ripped through Mezuki's head, leaving a clean hole and chipping out parts of his skull. They both fell to the ground, they quickly transformed back into there human forms, and both were carried out on stretchers, the only thing was... Yuri had died, Mark had killed someone...
