Cloister
It kinda was that with 6 too, you should have seen all 5 to actually get the most out of 6 since it included a lot of flashbacks
ragnarok1945
that's true, I did see Saw 5 though But the point here is Saw 6's main flashbacks came from Saw 5. Saw 7 will take ALL of the previous
Supreme Gamesmaster
Eh. Saw is pretty tasteless. Psychology does not work that way, and if half the quality of a movie comes from seeing horrible pain and torture... Hopefully, Saw VII will be the start of the Atonement Chapter. Ironically, it's not all that hideously gory, though it did launch the American gorn industry. As usual, American show business demands that any decent concept be stretched out far beyond its limit. There shouldn't have been a Saw II, let alone a Saw VII. Japan and Britain know when to quit; hence, their entertainment is far superior.
ragnarok1945
it actually WAS the intention to stop around Saw 2, but the producers felt there was much more of a story to tell
Cloister
The problem is that almost always the writers and the producers and the ones who works with movies don't know when to quit, and it is becoming so with Saw imo (a bit) since I'm a huge fan, I still am satisfied by the movies as long as Jigsaw is still in it, though I myself find the show has been on too long (hope they will only make like 3 more) or make the traps easier ( like saw 1, just the bathroom)
ragnarok1945
well in Saw 7 the intention is to make the traps REALLY big, like in a racetrack with a race car set to crash into a wall of explosives
Cloister
Lol, that sounds kinda fail, but hope they can make it look good
Supreme Gamesmaster
...failure. If they don't advance the plot by VII, Saw will start failing as a franchise.
ragnarok1945
Lol' date=' that sounds kinda fail, but hope they can make it look good[/quote'] yeah well right now it's just a plan, nothing is set in stone yet
Cloister
Well, they can still make a great plot even without a giant race track, but I think it will be a great movie still
ragnarok1945
the plan is that if you use something involving the race car, Jigsaw's voice can then speak to you via the radio
Cloister
It would be really cool if a trap was in a cinema and Billy appeared on the big screen Always wondered if that would be a good scene or not
ragnarok1945
yeah but the trap better be more than just crashing into a pile of explosives, that's not very creative
Cloister
no, that is not creative at all but since they have made SOO many traps, there are not so many ideas left for them, I think
ragnarok1945
that's just it, and why Saw 6 fell short of expectations now all the traps are starting to look too similar
Cloister
That's the main problem with saw since they rely on the traps, and Jigsaw
ragnarok1945
and that's what at least 2/3 of the Saw fans consist of: they don't care about the story, only the traps
Cloister
Yes, they do, but since the traps are becoming more and more the same, they will lose fans
ragnarok1945
that's why they planned to end it by Saw 7. After all, by the time of Saw 6 virtually all of Jigsaw's work is already complete anyway
Cloister
"The game comes full circle" did not really explain the movie right Since Hoffman and Jill are alive
ragnarok1945
that's because that quote was written when Saw 6's production first began, and back then, the plan was Saw 6 was supposed to be the last in the series
Cloister
I know, and it can be hard to just change it when it's already published, but I never thought about it that much
ragnarok1945
I know what you mean After it was decided that Saw 6 will not be the last of the series, the interviews simply said by the end of the film you'll have a much clearer picture of Jigsaw's grand scheme
Cloister
This movie expressed really clear what/how Jigsaw thinks, better than the other Saw movies and is therefor a movie that could have ended as it did now without a
ragnarok1945
yeah well I didn't feel it was right to have Jill get away with it all even Jigsaw isn't perfect, and he can only protect her for so long
